I suggest to add a telescopic seat with this bike. It makes getting up the bike much easier (low position) and gives optimal push power for high speeds (high position). With just a small button on the steering wheel you can adjust the height. Good luck!

Mein S3 muss alle 2 Monate repariert werden. Hinterrad/Bremsen/Firmware/E-Shifter, alles extrem fehleranfällig.

Never ever Vanmoof!!! Gott sei dank gibt’s derweil genügend Alternativen!
Most People , including me , prefer a removable standard easier to replace BATTERY Pack to a Battery wich is permanently fixed inside the frame. I hope VanMoof considers this common e-bike demand. Because that makes charging and replacing the battery pack much easier.
Tf was that? You create all that hype just to announce a prototype that will eventually come later next year? I waited with my E-Bike purchase in case you might announce a new bike and I get to see THIS.

What is the torque on the motor? San Francisco has some really steep hills, 20-24 grade and a few even more. Can this bike go up to such hills? I have ridden Gazelle, R&M with Bosch 85 nM of torque and it is struggle to get it up the hill.
I’ve tried the X2 here in Stockholm a few years back. But this seems like the VanMoof I can actually use here. Get it here!

Too bad, missed opportunity to introduce an S4/X4 or a new model in the same line. In the design I hardly see the unique vanMoof stealth signature. If they don't do anything about durability and quality, sales are not going to continue to grow like this.

Love my S2, but my height is right on that bubble and I wish I had got the X. Also, here in LA, the hills absolutely zap the motor, it's almost like they turn off at a certain grade. Even if I don't go for the higher speed license / regulations, I hope in 20mph mode that it can actually hit that level of assistance on hills. Dual motors should make a big difference there.

Hub motors unless large, don't have the torque a crank drive motor has. VanMoof design lovely bikes, but it has to function first, looks, aesthetics second. This geofencing is a gimmicky feature, folk already ignore speed limits set for e-bikes, buying unlocked bikes
Excited to try this bike.
Just put down my reservation. Only thing I wonder about is if you can raise the handlebar. As a tall guy, I need to put the seat up high and a taller handlebar would be nice haha!

To be fair, right now that's not an issue only with them
That looks like a great bike. I am already curious about the technical specs.
HOPEFULLY it comes with thru axle instead of QR
I made the mistake on the preorder for the S3. Out the box it didn't work. FB forums also reporting issues with the gear system and cartridge. I like the brand but what assurances do we have that the quality control (QC) have improved. My S3 was returned in the end as a replacement cartridge couldn't be fitted due to a 'star' screw being chewed up during production hence it couldn't be removed. Has QC improved, that's the question. I fear that a more technical bike will only bring more issues particularly if you are using cheap non branded components like you have on the S3.
楽しみ!
Is there a way of unlocking it so it can go faster than 25km/h?
This bike looks great and I would love one. The only down point is at this current time in the UK where I live all electric bikes are subject to an assisted speed limit of 15.5mph. This makes this bike pointless. I cannot see the law changing any time soon as they currently have a high focus on the amount of serious accidents occurring on electric scooters. 484 people injured in the uk, 1 person, an e-scooter rider, was killed, and 121 of those injured were children and teenagers under 19. I understand that these stats are for scooters but as long as these continue to rise ebike users will suffer. Passing legislation in the uk to allow a version of this bike to be shipped unlimited looks worlds away and I would not buy a product that I cannot legally use. However, looks great would love all this technology bar the speed and dual motor to be put into your other two bikes.

Great bicycle. I'll see what I do, although I would like to know its price before deciding to buy it or try it on the streets of London, UK which are very difficult to ride a bicycle due to the aggressiveness of the drivers and the high speed of the cars, which makes it very dangerous ride a bike through its streets. I use my Vanmoof x3 every day in San Francisco to get from home to work and back every day. Round trip takes 160 minutes on average and consumes most the battery. I’m honestly dissapointed with this bike, we don’t need a faster bike that is unsafe, we need a cheeper or better built current tier version. Of course they have that in the works but I wish they realized how much of a pr mess this would be if they did not release both bike models at the same time to the public. If they make a Vanmoof x4 with full suspension, slightly bigger or better breaks, slightly better battery I’d be set. I guess if they have something that works it does not make sense to change it but there’s such a huge gap between the 2 current models now.

What a cooooool design
Let's goooooooooooo!
Best of luck, this is an idea past its prime; this is why I built a dual motor, 1100W DIY e-bike from Grin Technology kits. The result tops out at about 34 MPH, but also crushes hills without overheating, produces ~120 ft. lbs. of torque and can haul hundreds of pounds of cargo via trailer. Even towing my 60 lb. dog, I managed to catch a little air on an *uphill* jump the other day in a dirt section of a local park. I refer to it as a 'California class IV bike'. This class does not exist of course, but it should. Unfortunately, it is not legal so I have to rely on the fact that Bay Area police officers no longer enforce traffic laws for some reason, and that I can reconfigure the bike into a street-legal mode in about two seconds, so they wouldn't be able to make anything stick if they stopped me other than standard traffic violations. It's honestly an amazing experience to ride. I now pass class I-III e-bikes and fast roadies with the same ease with which I used to pass regular bike traffic on a class I. Since the throttle on an e-bike is the rider pedalling, I still manage to average about 500W of human power on most rides, so I actually get more exercise than on the class I most of the time, but it can also be ridden in modes emulating class I and class III riding if I want to ride more slowly. My main criticism of the V: it is great for speed and hills, but the rear axle is completely covered with proprietary bits of plastic, so it looks it won't be compatible with hitch hardware for Burley, Surly, or other popular bike trailer manufacturers. I also don't see any way to mount any front or rear racks, as there are absolutely no bosses on this machine. That restricts it to being purely a rich person's bomb-to-the-coffee-shop bike, which is frankly a waste of potential. This could easily be a bike tractor like my bike when configured with the 1000W option. My second criticism is your approach pushing for geofencing. We don't do that with cars, so I'm confused why a cheaper, slower, more environmentally friendly form of transportation, which should have priority given the global climate crisis, would require the government to constantly track every place you go. If this is your main strategy in the US, it will never pay off. I will never allow this kind of tracking on the part of a government or corporation, even if it is anonymized. I do have a Boomerang system on my DIY bike to track it via GPS in case it is stolen, but that is on an opt-in basis only, and that data is not shared with other corporations or the government. I'm surprised an EU company would promote this given the GDPR. Just promote the bikes; leave the Orwellian aspects out of it, it's unnecessary and a deal killer for many would-be consumers.
