The Valve Index is Something Special
Ойындар
The Valve Index is a very impressive VR Headset with a few problems that make it very hard to recommend to anyone getting into virtual reality; especially when things like the Quest 2 exist. But that doesn't mean it's not for anyone. Given the right person, the Index is everything a virtual reality enthusiast would need and more.

Man, this is high quality content. I love seeing new channels pop up that are as excited about VR as I am. And not only that, put a lot of work and love into said content. It's nice.

Probably my favorite vr moment of all time was when on pavlov, on Hageru, I was hiding inside a house with my group mates, sniping germans, physically wracking the bolt back, yelling at my teammates telling them where the enemies were, watching my comrades get slowly murdered all around me. There were tears, there were laughs, and there were dead headsets. And like you said, when I think about this, I dont think "I saw everyone around me die and then shot everyone" I think "I physically dodges bullets, hid behind bullets, made connections with people, and pulled back bolts."

I love your point about how memories in VR feel like you’re actually there. I think when you’re playing VR, obviously you’re always somewhat aware that you’re in VR. You can feel the headset on your head, your field of view is lower, you can feel controllers in your hands, etc. But when you revisit the memory, your mind kinda filters out the minute senses and focuses on the more straightforward things: sight and sound. So when you look back, it really just feels like you actually experienced it

I love VR. It’s just a beyond amazing experience and just feels more in depth than 2D can ever do. I really hope it takes off and we get more impressive games, like a survival game and a stealth game similar to splinter cell and metal gear solid. I’d kill for that man
God you need more subs this channel is CRITICALLY underrated
I honestly love video essays, even when it's about stuff I already know about. It was nice to see what kind of thought process and the little things I hadn't picked up on that someone else did. Thanks for making suck a wonderful video about vr (I don't own a headset but I will soon since I got a good setup now), and I hope everything goes well for you.
The best part is the steamvr compatibility. The amount of wrestling you have to do with other headsets like the quest to work with steam vr is crazy. Also 100000 steam points
Vrchat is one of those games that i play in bursts, I simply dont have as much time as i used to for it. But man, social vr is really on a different level. I'm glad my index helped me meet lots of cool people and create good memories. But after years of vr, it really still leaves me longing for more.

I have an Index, I got it like week 2(?) of it on sale. I only recently have to replace one of the base stations which actually was really easy. Just contacted valve support and they did a free RMA for it even though i was out of warranty. Other than that it's been great to me
my favorite part of that new years in VRChat... was the servers crashing at exactly midnight, i was with a group of recently made friends, and we were all counting down, i was absolutely trashed drunk, and when i counted down to ONE, i closed my eyes and yelled HAPPY NEW YEAR... i opened my eyes... and got greeted to the steam VR VOID... i had never felt so alone... almost made my feel schizo

Amazing video. Well-edited. Beautiful voice. Easy to follow. You deserve 100k subs. Please make more like these.
Love the video bri. I completely agree with every point you made especially with you remembering vr as you were there and not playing a game or how like vr now is very much the 360 late 2000s/early 2010s vibe. I love it and I don't think many people realize how emersive vr really is. I'm glad I caught this vibe while it's Still in its early stages

subbed, really a great video with plenty of information for people that are looking to get into vr but also people that just got it, imo
Switching from a reverb g2 to index now, I realize that everyone has such a different experience that some people hate a headset and some people love the headset. I’m always nervous picking up a new piece of technology especially seeing all the complaints around the index, but this has been my dream since getting the original reverb g1 in 2018, I’m ready to see what the best of VR has to offer

Thanks for this video mate
I bought an exhaust fan for my Valve Index and it’s literally a game-changer! My initial thought was that it would be a cheap and low-quality product made by companies that wanted to make a quick buck. However, the huge amount of heat it actually manages to deflect is amazing. I can play high-intensity games like Lightsaber, Ragnarock, and Pavlov for so much longer without having to take a break and ruin the immersion because of sweating. Also my joystick got worn out and started drifting on my left controller after 15 months..I contacted support and they sent me a new one even though the insurance was no longer valid! . I love their customer support! Really High tier content my man! you deserve more subscribers! Subscribed :)
Dude, what a great video. Informative, nicely edited, funny bits thrown in. And you were absolutely right about BoneWork and Alyx, every video talks about them, so nice skip. Keep making vids!

You earned a sub today brother. I ordered my kit last weekend after giving up a kidney! In actuality, I have a quest pro.. But, I want to properly experience full body without a bunch of issues. So, the index was a full send for me. Keep up the good work!
Had index since summer of 2020. Never had any issues that people talk about and only 2 weeks ago I got one of my controller to rarely give me "thumbstick drift". Absolute blast of a headset and always gets the job done to immerse me into any game
Well done video. I enjoyed :)

Really great video sir! Keep it up. Im a vr user almost everyday - games and mainly art but, I always wanted Index (Im quest 2 owner) bcs of the budget I couldnt afford it. So anyone who really wants to get some vr Oculus is so far after a year a great choice but index superior mainly in that audio quality and finger tracking as u said. Also I tried Index so I'm not just blindly typing this.
I was hyped about vr since 2017. Vids like this one always make me both excited and extremely sad. Good content 👍
Great video
Great video, I am excited to get started with VR. My quest 2 arrives this week and I think I made the right choice at-least for value for money. But now I think I will watch the valve index for sales in the future when it comes time to upgrade.

I have a quest and man the update glitches are so annoying , I haven't played vrchat for a week no , ever since I updated it , I didn't even wanna update , so I would ignore it, until quest forced me to update , and that's when I got the wifi glitch error , and it won't let me connect to the wifi, I'm updating to htc , total waste of money , due to all the glitches
YESSIR NEW MACROLITH UPLOAD
It's epic that the index is still up there with the best headset even though it's 3 years old.
Holy crap. Your the first person I can relate to that 2021 new years was the best one. I didn't spend it in vr, but I was just at my pc.
That high pitch whine around 0:50 though… as it slowly ramped up I initially thought it was my ear (happens sometimes for a few sec) until it became so loud it was obviously external of nature.
Great video my friend!
Amazing content.

Excellent video. My brother got us a quest 2 recently and I'm gonna take it slow for my next step in VR and thats with the vive cosmos elite kit then get the index controllers as a test to make sure for when I eventually get the index that it arrives etc. :)
Very nice
Massively underrated video
Nice video! I'm personally doing wireless PCVR over airlink with the refurbished Quest 2 I bought before they bumped up the price, alongside third party add-ons and stuff to use with it. I likely won't get an Index (despite some of the really nice features), but eventually I hope to somehow acquire a Deckard (you know, whenever that may possibly come out). Plz gimmie that valve-made wireless PCVR Index successor, Valve!
4:14 Hey the steam controller was cool. Steam machines on the other hand...
The youtube algo has finally recommended me something good.
Just got an index as my first VR. Got it used for $400 for full kit so it was a steal, I think. Having a lot of fun with it.

I love Valve's products, can't wait for their next leaked/rumored Valve Deckard VR headset.
I've been riding my quest for nearly two years now. It's gone from a cool gimic I strap to my face on its own when I'm not gaming on my pc, to a paper weight for a few solid months to something I strap on regularly connect to my pc and hookup up full body tracking and get lost in for hours . I love my quest but I know I'll need to upgrade to a proper pc headset soon perhaps not the index since it's a touch old by this point but something new will likely take its spot.
This is the quality content KZread is lacking these days
Low resolution aside, the major hold up for me, base stations and dedicated play areas. For high visual quality I use a Reverb G2 and all around on a Pico 4.
I've got my first VR headset (the original Vive) in 2018 and since then I've always wanted to upgrade to the Index, but now I'm on a fence if I should wait for the next Valve headset that might or might not be coming this year. I'll probably just buy the Index headset alone as I already have the Vive tracking stations and the Index controllers.
I think I have one of those preorder index headsets. had to rma right controller when it started to drift. good service. After 3 years daily usage it start to show wearing. I hope Valve will come new headset pretty soon because I want to reason for upgrade. Hit few time so hard that my hand didn't work but controller was fine. Only time it needed little superglue was when I dropped it to floor with nice angle and trigger broke it's clips.
been 3 years with my index kit, only changed 1 controller under warranty. Everything still works perfectly fine.
thanks bruv.
Great review. love my Index, I’ve had it 3 years now, and use it regularly. Still not convinced anything objectively better has come along. Also..I actually had to check if my base stations were on for that moment of this video…

Oh, and I have a quest 2, that sits on the shelf until I’m traveling somewhere I want to introduce VR.
I can't overlook Fresnel lenses or low native resolution 4 years in. It WAS a good headset. It WAS worth $1000 when it launched. Emphasis on WAS. Valve needs to get their asses off their laurels. And hell, in my 30s, and the whine those base stations makes permeates EVERY FECKING ROOM it's so annoying. I wouldn't touch the index in 2022-23 for more than $500.
Well put and enjoyed it too.
I loved this! Great Job! Subbed. Do more of these please :3 oh and how about making a group for subscribers on vrchat ;)
I upgraded from spending 1000 hours in a quest 2, to having an index, four base stations, and full body tracking. I love this headset. It may not be a Paimax 4k, but its easily the best investment ive made in terms of enjoying VR a whole lot more. This headset is going to be main way I experience VR for the coming years and I don't see that changing any time soon. Great video. I'm glad KZread finally recommended me something I was actually interested in watching.
