    Megyn, I am an evangelical Christian. I was intrigued by your talk with the Roman Catholic priest. He is awesome. Such a loving man with obviously the love of God within him. I sense that you are really wrestling with these issues and I so appreciate you being very honest about all of this. Your show is wonderful. Again please have him back.     Good show! What about other Religion. They get divorced remarry not go get approved by Catholic church. They will get to Heaven. I am Catholic still married. But dont feel Megan needs it. Or others.

    @@janicemartin3822 Sorry, but you are wrong. This is a point of Canon law and Megyn, as a lawyer, needs to approach it that way. Fr. Chris Alar of the Marian Fathers did a talk on this and outlined the exact points of law. This is not a matter of opinion. The priest was absolutely correct to not absolve her. Fr. Chris (who is Dominican trained) actually taught that if both parties are baptized, even if they marry before a justice of the peace, it is a Sacramental marriage and they may not remarry except of one died or they get an annulment. Other religions are their own stories. Irrelevant to two baptized people. I was in the Evangelic church after my divorce but my ex decided to get an annulment. I also thought it was unnecessary but didn't oppose it. Now tha I am back in the Catholic church, I am so glad he did it. I did remarry and am now a widow. My Ex is alive and kicking at 77 so, if someone else comes along, without the annulment from him, I'd be stuck.

    @@janicemartin3822 Religion is terrible, it’s a set of man made rules. On the other hand true Christianity is having a personal relationship with Jesus. None of us on this planet are perfect. We were all born with a sin nature. But when you surrender your life to God, through Jesus Christ,The Bible says no one comes to the father except through me… Jesus. All you have to do is press simple prayer, asking Jesus to forgive you of all your sins and asking him to come into your life, you want to be in God’s family in Jesus name amen. It’s that simple… Transforming life-changing.

    The question to ask is... Which God do you beleive in...which God are you connected to and how are you connected to God? Because, there is only one true God creator of the universe. You might desagree with me...and that's ok...however, may I encourage you to read my comment below, which I wrote mid 2020, till the end before formulating an opinion on what I just said😊 Blessings to you all🙏 There is something, my youtube friends that is real its that what we are living right now, politically, socially and religiously was already predicted in the Holy Scriptures of the Bible over 2000 years ago! The way I understand and see is that "they" the ones that control the world and its agenda are aware and want the people to rise up and protest. "They" are using this made up p-a-n-d-e-m-i-c/crisis to bring the world's economy down and wait to bring in forced v-a-c-c-i-n-a-t-i-o-n for all. In doing so, the people more and more are waiking up, their eyes are opening to the true corruption and evilness of this world and standing against this tyranny which I beleive in its climax will bring a revolution. "They" are going to use this revolution to say "you see....thats why we need a One World Government with one set of rules, one religion" and bring it all together...so they can rules and control the whole world, they will put a leader at the head of this OWG. The bible predicted it and call that leader "the anti-Christ". This anti christ will rule and brings a false peace at first and tribulations for a period of 7 years where many will die and be torture...than Jesus Christ will comeback on earth to reign and bring peace. Jesus came to save the world from the wrath of God by taking on Himself all the sins of the world. Jesus Christ came to pay our debts to buy our freedom before God... We are all guilty and all deserved to be punished but God, who loves us so very much send His son to suffer and die on the cross in our place. The difference between Jesus and us is that He didn't deserve it because He lives on earth without sin, He was sinless. Because Jesus loves us, because He gave Himself as a sacrifice and took the punishment for our sins when He suffered on the cross, we have now the opportunity to be reconciled with our Heavenly Father. JESUS CHRIST came, lived a sinless life, took the sins of the world upon Him, suffered, died & shed His blood on a cross for us to pay for our debt, after 3 days He cameback to life and was resurrected, lived 40 days amongst the Apostles than ascended to heaven and is now sitted at the right side of our Heavenly Father interceding for those that have choosen to repent and trust in Him, the Saviour of the world. We do not deserve His love... but God is Love, He is merciful towards us. The Hope and the Good News in the midst of this human madness...is that if we recognise that we are sinners, that we truly heartfully repent, recognising that God through His son Jesus Christ forgive us of all our sins and that we sincerely give our life to Jesus, than...something miraculous happens: we will be born again. What that means is that God will change our heart and we will be spiritually reborn, becoming a new creation in Christ Jesus, belonging to God's family and we will have access to the free gift of eternal life...when we die, our body will die but our spirit will be in the presence of our Heavenly Father. The Holy Bible also say that Jesus Christ will return on earth, after 7 years of horrific tribulations, as King reigning over the earth and us (those that have chosen Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour) with Him. This is the good news and the hope that we have in Jesus Christ! When we look at God's ten commandments, we realised that we all are in big trouble with God come judgement day. Will we go to Heaven when we die? Here is a quick test: Have you ever lied, stolen, used God's name in vain, or lusted after a woman or man? If you have done these things, God sees you as a lying, thieving, blasphemous adulterer at heart, and the Bible warns that one day God will punish you in a terrible place called hell. But He is not willing that any should perish. Sinners broke God's law, and Jesus paid their fine. This mean that God can legally dismiss their case: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever beleives in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." Then Jesus rose from the dead, defeated death. Today , repent and trust Jesus, and God will give you eternal life as a free gift. Then read the bible daily and obey it. God will never fail you. Please seriously think about what I just shared, because none of us know when we are going to die. The Holy Scriptures in the bible say: as it is written: "None is righteous, no, not one; Romans 3: 10 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Romans 3: 23 Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned- Romans 5: 12 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6: 23 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5: 8 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. Romans 10: 9‭-‬10 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. 1 John 5: 12

    This priest is nice and I have nothing against him personnally as I don't know him, praise God that he encourages people to read the bible, the infallible word of God, the inspired word of God, the truth, the way, the life🙏 I am just so sad that the roman catholic "church" invented unbiblical doctrine...one of them forced celibacy for priest which is not in the bible, and many others. They managed to twist many passages in the bible and make them say what they want and not what they truly mean in their context, as well as adding to the word, to the point where they teach a work base gospel...meaning Jesus' sacrifice is not enough...you need the sacrements as well to make it to heaven...so wrong...so sad... I was raised roman catholic, going to church and doing all the human traditions invented by the roman Catholic doctrine. Once I started asking questions, after years of searching and once I read the Word of God without the catholic interpretation, but allowing the Word to interprete itself, I came to repentance and confessed Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour. My life changed forever as I know I'm a sinner saved by Grace alone, through faith in Christ alone, I know with certainty where I'm going when I die (amongs other things) Do you know where you're going when you die?     @@corinneperegrini6003 Jesus is the one who built the church, the Roman Catholic Church. It is the only church he’s built here on earth and the rest are man made, inspired by Luther in the 16th century. Why would you believe and choose a man made church over one that was built by Christ himself? “Upon this rock I will build my church” choosing Peter as his first leader aka pope. The Catholic Church whether you agree or not, is the only church that can be traced straight down to Peter and Christ. I understand you were lied to and are very much confused but please study church history and it will give you the knowledge you desperately need. Jesus NEVER intended his church to be divided into 30000+ denominations. Protestantism allows and encourages believers to interpret the Bible as they wish, even Satan himself uses the Bible to backup his claims. There is only one truth and one church. God bless.

    @@mj-rg9kp Indeed there is only one truth, one way and that is salvation in Christ Jesus alone, through faith alone by grace alone. The word of God is the only truth, the infaillible truth. This is why I follow Jesus Christ and His word alone, not man made phylosophy, not man made doctrine but God throught His only begotten son Jesus Christ🙏 I am a bible beleiver christian...not roman catholic nor any others denomination but a bible believer christian 🙏 God bless you🙏

    The day before my daughter had her First Communion, she told me she's excited to receive Jesus. I hope more people would be as excited to receive Jesus as my daughter did. Thank you Fr. Mike for bringing God closer to people and for making The Bible more accessible.

    That's wonderful. My daughter was so poorly catechised, the class didn't even receive First Communion as a group, she told me she didn't want to do it because she didn't understand it. Well, that was better than receiving unworthily but she really went off the path.

    But it's anti Biblical BLASPHEMY. How can Jesus be every one of the billions of industrially-produced wafers made across the world from Peru to Portugal and Australia to Alaska. In the name of God and for the good of your child(ren) please please please read the Bible, especially the New Testament. Begin with the Gospel of John and read and listen to it continually. Then move on to the other 3 Gospels and the New Testament. And DON'T read commentaries or listen to teachers. God and Jesus are ALIVE! Jesus promises in John 14:26 & 16:13 that the Holy Spirit WILL teach and guide you into all Truth! It takes faith (trust) but you can even ask him to help you increase that!

Have you imagined telling God that on Judgment Day?? "Sorry I neglected, dismissed and followed an organization that contradicted your Word but, you know, it was beautiful!" "But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.     @@leenieledejo6849 there’s nothing in the Catechism that contradicts the Bible. The two work together to give testament to Jesus. Please actually go learn the Catechism by reading it and not based on what some snarky Protestant pastor tells you.

    Was a Protestant believer / did a Women’s study ‘Walking With Purpose’ - had a Grace filled gift from God to Seek and become a Catholic and the necessity to Confess😢 all my 62 years of Sins …to a Priest. And now attend Mass w my still Protestant husband weekly and as often as I can… and We are just listening to Father Mike ‘Bible in a Year’ - we can not say enough to say we are learning, seeking and Loving All of it! Thank You, Thank You So Much! Catholics have so many Tools to help us fragile humans in our walk towards Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior! Thank you for your gift of our Mother Mary (given to us ‘all’ from Jesus on the Cross to The Beloved John💗and all of the Saints (mere humans who went through all kinds of human things yet strive to continue towards Christ! I’m relatively new so I might have misspoken somewhere! But we are All on our person journeys! God Bless all of our Journeys - May they all lead to Christ!

    Don't cry over confession, Kimberly. It's a gift. I was raised Catholic but fell away. Got involved in the Evangelical church for many years. When I came back and went to confession for the first time in about 50 years, it was a gift. I was so happy and felt so "light."

    I LOVE Fr. Mike. And celibacy is such a beautiful sacrifice that our Priests make. As someone who is female and fairly attractive, I unabashedly still need a father figure. Having a real person in front of you who you can give you the advice that God might give you and who doesn't have "ulterior interest" in you, that's a truly beautiful thing in a very broken world. I think of Fr. Mike as a father figure and I get he's the hot dad at the school picnic, but for those of us who still need fatherly advice and don't have earthly father figures we can talk to, people like Fr Mike are such a blessing. Thanks so much for all the sacrifices you've made for your vocation, Fr Mike!

    @roselee4445: It’s beautiful because it’s a sacrifice. And it’s a sacrifice because it’s difficult. Also, every single faithful Catholic has to attend to chaste sexual behavior, including celibacy for the many of us who are single and well-ordered intimacy within marriage.

    @@ah3ll0 disagree- she needed that approach bc of her perceived‘ horrible’ confession. Did you hear at the end when she said ‘Get started with that paperwork?’ He handled it perfectly. People do not take cold hard facts easily at all- he would of scared her away like the last confession.

    I grew up in the midst of religious conflict with my Mother being excommunicated from the Catholic church not for marrying my Father but for reneging on raising his kids Catholic. That and stories like this are exactly why I follow no dictates made by man via church power. I follow and love my personal savior who will ever be my Hero. My love of Jesus started as a child in the Methodist church my Mother was also not accepted in because she was Catholic. It sounds like things haven't changed much. I am impressed by Kelly formally sticking with it probably for her husband and kids mostly.

    I am not Catholic, but since the pandemic, have started going to Mass. I found Fr. Mike on KZread while looking for answers to just some of the questions a Protestant would have, and I absolutely LOVE him....bonus points that he is a fellow Minnesotan!

    Such a great interview! My husband and I have been married 17 years civilly. We just got married in the Catholic Church last month after he was granted an annulment for his first marriage. It is amazing how beautiful marriage is when it’s entered into as a sacrament. The difference is tangible. We fell away from the church and started our journey back a few years ago. The scandals in the church caused us to consider formally leaving for another religion. We earnestly researched other religions. Surprisingly we ended up making the opposite decision to come back to the church with full love and commitment to be part of fighting for everything good in ourselves and the church.

    Annulments are religious not Biblical. My ex husband left me for another woman he was cheating. Years later he asked if I would sign annulment papers so he and his new wife could be recognized/married in the Catholic Church. I signed it however, God knows the truth. My ex never took responsibility for destroying our family. He was just unhappily married so he looked outside the marriage. Annulments are not biblical. My ex and I were married in a Christian church & he broke our marriage vows. He is an adulterer.

    Thank you so much for the show Megyn and Father Schmitz - I am far from religious (was raised an Anglican until my early teens) yet I found this episode so very thought provoking to the point where I have been left asking myself many questions about my life, my path and the meaning of it all. I have downloaded a few episodes of his "bible in a year" podcast and look forward to listening to them. I am curious about Catholicism - and not for the first time, so I do feel this may be a "sign" for me to delve deeper and see where this all takes me. Have a wonderful day!

    Just finished watching this I loved everything about it. As a divorced Catholic with an annulment-Megyn I want to encourage you to go ahead and take care of it for so many reasons most especially for the peace of mind. I got remarried without it and it just caused me a lot of angst and worry. It is a much easier process these days and there are people at the tribunal who will help you with everything that needs to happen. Then you can get your marriage blessed in the church as well. I know it sounds judgemental and rejecting and hurtful but I promise taking care of it is such a load off. Love to you and your family and God bless. I watch you and agree with just about everything on your shows you are just incredibly well spoken and so bright! So many talents! ❤

    I agree, I used to think an annulment was just a "Catholic divorce ", but when I met my future husband that I had prayed for, I thought , "why would I not have the marriage God meant for me a blessed marriage and in the church?" So I started the process, and found the annulment process painful, but incredibly healing. It took a long time, and thankfully I had a wonderful Deacon to help me.

    Megyn, I'm not Catholic, I am a Christian I thoroughly enjoyed this program. I was thinking about my friend that also lost her son after your show on Blake.Then yesterday i into her She told me about a dream she had that was so real about her son who had passed. She found it so comforting We call those tender mercys from God. When Christ said he would not leave us comfortless that was his promise and I believe he's keeping that very promise. Thank you for bringing goodness into the world. It makes a big difference. Here's to more than 2 years of success! ❤️

    It is a reality- a majority of comments concerning anything dealing with spiritual issues, separate people of faith into several categories … including “CHRISTIAN” and/or “CATHOLIC” … the most rational conclusion for me is to think of the “CHRISTIAN” community as being comprised of “DENOMINATIONS” such as 1) CATHOLIC 2) BAPTISTS (several divisions) 3) GREEK ORTHODOX 4) PENTECOSTALS (several groups) 5) METHODISTS ( several groups) … am I way off?

    My mom passed in 2015. Every year on my birthday she would call me up and sing happy birthday over the phone. She was not a good singer lol and she would sing it in this funny melody. This year on my bday as I was running to get my 12 year old out the door to school, I was thinking abt her doing this. I was getting a little teary. Then all of a sudden, my son wishes me a happy birthday and starts singing it the exact way that she did. I literally froze in my kitchen and stared at him. He was only 5 when she passed and swore to me that he never heard her do this or heard me discuss it. I truly believe it was her singing to me through him.🙏❤️

    What a blessing! I'm still waiting for a sign from my dad who passed away 62 years ago. Still nothing, not even a nice dream of him. We had such a close relationship, but it didn't last long as I was a kid when he died. I have good memories of him, but would still like a sign or something letting me know he hasn't forgotten me.

    Megyn, what a fantastic interview/episode! You sharing your painful confession experience is courageous. I truly believe that God's grace was with you and Fr. Mike during the interview. Many people will be blessed by this episode. I've watched it twice and know I will watch it again. Those that truly care about us, love us, tell us the truth. Fr. Mike teaches what the church teaches, but he does it in love. This is what St. Paul said for us to do. Thank you and fr. Mike again for sharing some personal private parts of your life experience. It's a breath of fresh air in what seems like world wide turmoil.

    Loved listening to this wonderful interview with Fr. Mike! I am a devout Greek Orthodox Christian, and, the Roman Catholics and we were once one Church. It is so beautiful to hear this loving Priest, who is so pastoral in nature, express the love the Lord has for us all. I also love the vulnerability expressed by Megyn, who is very honest and open. I think she helped a lot of people with her questions, and, I think Fr. Mike helped a lot of people with his answers. It is so wonderful to listen to our brothers and sisters in Christ.     I was born and raised Catholic, but walked away for precisely lack of purpose, or Faith. Now I am old or senior, and I have been trying very faithful to stay the course. Pray the Rosary daily. St Michael prayers is particularly needed in these times. I listen to Dr Taylor Marshall, he goes in a different direction

    Where is "annulment" in Scripture?? You do know that NOWHERE in the Bible does God condone "remarriage"? Jesus specifically calls it adultery and nobody living in adultery goes to heaven (1 Corinthians 6:9-11, Galatians 5:19-21). DOES THE CATHOLIC "CHURCH" IGNORE THE WORDS OF JESUS??? If it does then by definition it is NOT CHRISTian! "What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. And he saith unto them: "Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her. And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery" (Mark 10:9, 11-12) "Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, **nor adulterers**, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God" (1 Corinthians 6:9-10)

    @@maryjoabatt910 That passage does NOT mention "annulment". Annulment is an invention of the RCC (they have MANY unBiblical inventions!). If someone has enough money, they can BUY an "annulment" which states that the RCC decides the marriage "didn't exist". There's a politician in my country (John Swinney) who got an "annulment" (even though he's a professing "Protestant") so he could marry another woman (a Catholic) in church and so she could continue taking the Catholic eucharist. The annulment (apparently fast-tracked especially for him) states that his long first marriage "never happened" even though he had 2 KIDS!! The RCC mocks God and the Bible. [By the way, the word used in Matthew 5 is "porneia", correctly translated in the KJV as "fornication". It is NOT the Greek word for "adultery". The Gospel of Matthew was originally written to the JEWS and so fornication (sex before marriage) was a reason to put away the betrothed before marriage. If you read the accounts in the Gospels leading to the birth of Jesus, you will see that before he was visited by an angel, Joseph was considering "putting away" Mary for her "fornication" - he had assumed that because she was pregnant, she had "fornicated" with another man. In the passages in Luke and Mark as well as Romans 7 and 1 Corinthians 7, there is NO reason given to divorve and certainly NO green light to "remarry". There's no passage in the entire Bible where God condones what the world calls "remarriage". It is ADULTERY and passages like 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 state clearly what happens to adulterers when they die if they remain in their sin of adultery].

    I had never heard of Fr. Mike. Thank you for having him on! As a Catholic School graduate, I find all of this fascinating! And thank you for asking the question about getting signs from a deceased loved one. I lost my daughter 6 years ago. I will forever carry the pain and sadness of her death. I have received so many unexplainable signs from her. Several of them I believe are truly miraculous as there are just no reasonable explanations

    The question to ask is... Which God do you beleive in...which God are you connected to and how are you connected to God? Because, there is only one true God creator of the universe. The way I understand and see is that "they" the ones that control the world and its agenda are aware and want the people to rise up and protest. "They" are using this made up p-a-n-d-e-m-i-c/crisis to bring the world's economy down and wait to bring in forced v-a-c-c-i-n-a-t-i-o-n for all. In doing so, the people more and more are waiking up, their eyes are opening to the true corruption and evilness of this world and standing against this tyranny which I beleive in its climax will bring a revolution. "They" are going to use this revolution to say "you see....thats why we need a One World Government with one set of rules, one religion" and bring it all together...so they can rules and control the whole world, they will put a leader at the head of this OWG. The bible predicted it and call that leader "the anti-Christ". This anti christ will rule and brings a false peace at first and tribulations for a period of 7 years where many will die and be torture...than Jesus Christ will comeback on earth to reign and bring peace. Jesus came to save the world from the wrath of God by taking on Himself all the sins of the world. Jesus Christ came to pay our debts to buy our freedom before God... We are all guilty and all deserved to be punished but God, who loves us so very much send His son to suffer and die on the cross in our place. The difference between Jesus and us is that He didn't deserve it because He lives on earth without sin, He was sinless. Because Jesus loves us, because He gave Himself as a sacrifice and took the punishment for our sins when He suffered on the cross, we have now the opportunity to be reconciled with our Heavenly Father. JESUS CHRIST came, lived a sinless life, took the sins of the world upon Him, suffered, died & shed His blood on a cross for us to pay for our debt, after 3 days He cameback to life and was resurrected, lived 40 days amongst the Apostles than ascended to heaven and is now sitted at the right side of our Heavenly Father interceding for those that have choosen to repent and trust in Him, the Saviour of the world. We do not deserve His love... but God is Love, He is merciful towards us. The Hope and the Good News in the midst of this human madness...is that if we recognise that we are sinners, that we truly heartfully repent, recognising that God through His son Jesus Christ forgive us of all our sins and that we sincerely give our life to Jesus, than...something miraculous happens: we will be born again. What that means is that God will change our heart and we will be spiritually reborn, becoming a new creation in Christ Jesus, belonging to God's family and we will have access to the free gift of eternal life...when we die, our body will die but our spirit will be in the presence of our Heavenly Father. The Holy Bible also say that Jesus Christ will return on earth, after 7 years of horrific tribulations, as King reigning over the earth and us (those that have chosen Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour) with Him. This is the good news and the hope that we have in Jesus Christ! When we look at God's ten commandments, we realised that we all are in big trouble with God come judgement day. Will we go to Heaven when we die? Here is a quick test: Have you ever lied, stolen, used God's name in vain, or lusted after a woman or man? If you have done these things, God sees you as a lying, thieving, blasphemous adulterer at heart, and the Bible warns that one day God will punish you in a terrible place called hell. But He is not willing that any should perish. Sinners broke God's law, and Jesus paid their fine. This mean that God can legally dismiss their case: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever beleives in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." Then Jesus rose from the dead, defeated death. Today , repent and trust Jesus, and God will give you eternal life as a free gift. Then read the bible daily and obey it. God will never fail you. Please seriously think about what I just shared, because none of us know when we are going to die. The Holy Scriptures in the bible say: as it is written: "None is righteous, no, not one; Romans 3: 10 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Romans 3: 23 Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned- Romans 5: 12 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6: 23 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5: 8 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. Romans 10: 9‭-‬10 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. 1 John 5: 12

    I've been a Fr. Mike fan ever since I heard his first homily/talk on an audio CD from Lighthouse Catholic Media. The students at UMD and all of the other places where Fr. Mike speaks are so blessed to have him for even a little while. There's something about him that hits you right between the eyes. His truth is Jesus's truth and he gives us all of the angles! The podcast was a lifechanger for many. Even though Catholic's read the Scripture readings of the day everyday for three years, they don't realize that they get the whole story in the course of those three years. Fr. Mike's explanations after each and every Bible in a Year podcast made all the difference. God bless Fr. Mike for his YES to serve God's people as a priest of Jesus Christ.

    I love Fr Schmitz. In 2019 when God whispered I needed to come back to Him, I began listening to priests via KZread, Fr Chris Alar, Fr Calloway, and Fr Schmitz to learn about Catholicism. I'm in the beginnings of his Bible In a Year... some of what's already been covered (still in Genesis) is like whoa! Because of these priests (thank you all fathers), and my co-worker/sponsor into the faith, they answered questions that spoke to my heart. Thank you, Megan, for giving one of the churches' most loved priests to voice the Church in a love that just bowls me over. God bless!! That St Michael prayer is one St Johns, my parish says after each mass.

    I have a bunch to say about this episode. The first thing I will say is that I am writing this comment at exactly 3:16 pm, which will make sense in a few minutes. Second, this is probably the best Megyn episode I've heard, along with Gavin DeBecker. I'm downloading it so I can listen over and over to Father Mike's words. So, I was raised Roman Catholic, went to Catholic school for eight years. I always had lots of questions for the nuns since a very young age. I would always ask 'If God created everything, who created God?' I asked this year after year and the answer was always 'God is, was, and will always be'. Same answer, no conclusion. So this put me off, in addition to seeing the Catholic priests smoking in the schoolyard and the nuns being sadistic be-yotches to us kids - I'm talking beatings with yardsticks here and demeaning insults in front of the class. None of this made me want to buy what they were trying to sell me and ultimately I became a pretty hardcore atheist. Fast forward to about ten years ago on my birthday - March 16th. That entire day, everywhere I looked - clocks, bank statements, page numbers, a football movie - I kept seeing the numbers 316. I laughed at it because it was my birthdate and I figured it was a subconscious thing. Well, it didn't end on my birthday. It's been a daily occurrence for the past decade - I see 3:16 EVERYWHERE. Eventually I stopped thinking it was funny and I got annoyed by it. A friend told me that a crazy guy started holding up giant signs at football games with "3:16" on them, just for publicity back in the 80's. I looked this up and found that 3:16 is a Bible passage about Jesus being the son of God. So, for the past ten years, I have been very conflicted over this. I DO believe what Father Mike was saying about looking out for signs. I came to the conclusion over the past two years or so that this 3:16 business has to be God talking to me. Prior to that realization, I was a pretty hardcore liberal, angry feminist, very pro-abortion (ironically, it was a video of Megyn on Fox News reporting on the Gosnell case that turned me pro-life), but all that changed when I made this spiritual connection. I can't say that I am eager to return to Catholicism, partly because of my negative experience in school, as well as I think the Church is way too restrictive (as with Megyn's annulment) and controlling. But I definitely can appreciate the Catholic explanation of things and will be looking into Catechism, while looking into other Christian denominations. And no lie, when I started writing this comment, I glanced up at the time on my phone and it was 3:16 and it just made me smile 🙂

    I’m very sorry for the people (religious) that were awful witnesses to the faith to you during your childhood. Know that people like that have existed for all of time (bad parents; bad teachers; bad cops; bad politicians, etc.), starting with the disciple Judas who sold Jesus out. Forgive them, then pray for them wherever they are. I pray those bad memories don’t rob you of ANY more time that you can spend embracing our loving Father and knowing his peace that surpasses all understanding.

    I’m not Catholic but I love bible in a year I love how much knowledge and history the Catholic Church has kept through the centuries. It makes it so much easier to understand why the books of the Bible was written, who they were written to and the overall context of why each book is important. The Bible in a year podcast makes it so easy to understand even the Old Testament and every time I thought something was weird or made me uncomfortable that God did Fr. Mike would always be there and say I know this might sound strange but here is where God’s love, purpose and hope is in this passage and here is why this is good. And it is so great to hear that context

    GO FATHER MIKE GO! I was a lapsed Catholic for over 12 years. During lockdown I realised that I was lapsed because my conceptualisation of the faith was child-like. So recently I've been seeking the truth of life, which caused me to stumble on Fr. Mike's works. He's on fire with the word of God, thanks to him I'm really starting to see why Catholics believe what we believe. I have a long way to go on this journey, if you are reading this please pray that I can walk it well!

    That’s how women get into trouble. The priest was somewhat pained,,,,,,temptation shows up even on the airways.Pray for this priest and although as a Protestant I always thought annulment was an excuse to pretend you never had a marriage or be responsible for children, but I learned something today. I respect that marriage is sacred and when vows are broken we need to humble ourselves,admit where went wrong and ask Gods forgiveness. Evangelicals have become very vague and sloppy and whitewash divorce. Divorce is not the only issue. Before anyone takes communion they are to examine their own hearts and if they have anything against another person they are to make things right with that person first.

    Megyn, Thank you for interviewing Fr. Schmitz. And thank you for hanging in there with the Catholic Faith. My wife listens to Fr. Schmitz's Bible study and enjoy's it very much. Personally, I don't think you'll ever read this, but if you do I'd like to share this with you. I'm a convert to the Catholic faith. Prior to my conversion I attended a church that had only the Bible. I studied the Bible with them for eight years. Years after becoming Catholic I had a revelation about Bible churches. It's called "being lost with the Bible." The fact is, the Bible is not a text book. What can be taught from Scripture is not put in order in Scripture. That is why we have the Church and the catechisms Church. These Catechisms are the document Christians should be reading to understand the contents of the Scripture. (I recommend the Catechism from the Council of Trent or the Baltimore Catechism would be best for most.) The fact is most Protestants don't know the Bible. What they do know is a short list of "gotcha" Scripture they believe disproves the Catholic faith----something they know nothing about. They are terribly wrong. They are "lost in the Bible." Most don't even know where to begin. The Bible is the book of the One Church Jesus founded. As the Bible says, it is not for people to conjure up their own private interpretations. For the truth of the Scripture one must refer to the Church Jesus founded, the Church, which Scripture calls "the pillar and Bulwark of the Truth." It is a grave mistake to separate the Scripture from the one Church Jesus founded. This will get you "lost in the Bible," and one of more that 30,000 denominations who disagree about the Bible's contents. Fr. Schmitz is not being forthright about the new Mass. It is far, far, far from a translation from the Latin. You can find the information you need at the KZread page Mass of the Ages. There you will find the truth about how and why all these changes have been done in the liturgy of the mass over the years. It is a very grave problem. Learn the necessity of understanding the Lex Orandi, Lex credendi, Lex vivendi. This is the authentic principle of the Catholic faith.

    I am on day 50 of bible in a year. I have become so much more empathetic to people who are " screw ups." I see god again and again forgive some of the most despicable characters. I feel so much better about myself too. God knows i am flawed but wont give up on me.

    I totally agree. I listened to the entire podcast last year and one of my big take aways was Gods mercy.

    Grew up in Catholic school, my children went to Catholic college, yet none of us ever studied the Bible in total, especially the Old Testament. I am doing The Bible in a Year and it is all becoming so very clear. Love the podcast so much.

    I know God answers prayers I had three prayers that prayed often on for 10 years those prayers have been answered in time

    1:40 long and I actually listened to the entire thing. Enjoyed the conversation, Megyn getting to ask a priest a bunch of questions a lot of people are probably wondering about. But Fr. Mike’s whole comment on getting the annulment had me crying. So charitable & loving. You can do it Megyn❣️ my husband went through it and it was a powerful experience ♥️

    Fr. Mike is a role model for all priests. He is evangelizes in such a down to earth way. He knows how to connect by just being himself. He communicates God’s love and faith matters in a down to earth way - it’s never too lofty - he brings me closer to my faith every time I listen to him. Thank you Fr. Mike. 🙏

    I am not Catholic, but respect Father Schmitz for his wonderful comments. He hit home so much of what I believe and know to be true. Thanks for being strong in you belief in the Savior and willingness to open up when you shared your experience. I would love to see you interview the Prophet of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (or one of the 12 Apostles) and ask him some of the same questions you asked Father Mike.
