The Valley Lake is one of four volcanic crater lakes originally on Mount Gambier maar. Of these 4 cater lakes, only the Blue Lake and the Valley Lake remain, the others were dried up.
The Valley Lake lookout provides panoramic views across the basalt clifftop of the former Niddrie Quarry, well as the Melbourne cityscape.
