The V8 Ranch Story - Historic Cattle Ranch in Hungerford, Texas

In 1944, Howard Parker from Center, Texas founded V8 Ranch. Named after the Ford Engine, Mr. Parker began raising an elite herd of Brahman cattle and branded them with a V8 on their left hip.
In 1971, rodeo producer Sloan Williams sold his stock contracting business and purchased the V8 branded Brahman cattle, and moved them to his ranch in Wharton County, where they've lived ever since.
To this day, V8 Ranch is owned and operated by the Williams family in Hungerford and Boling, Texas, along the Gulf Coast, marketing over 18,000 registered Brahman cattle over the course of their lifetime, as well as maintaining a large herd of crossbred commercial cattle and ranch horses.
Hear from some of the members of the V8 Ranch family (Jim Williams, Jan Williams Powell, Catherine Williams Neumayr, and Luke Neumayr) as they tell the story of the ranch and pay tribute to the earlier generations.

Thank you for what you do here. My family and I have a small cattle op in DeWitt County Tx. I'm looking to improve my herd. I understand Brahman crossed with certain breeds provide excellent offspring, calving opportunity, and higher market value. Can you please explain which breeds you prefer to mate with V8? Thank you very much.

Hello! That isn't too far from us. We would be glad for you to come visit us anytime and we could visit about this and anything else you'd like to chat about. We've always loved a Brahman x Shorthorn cross. But a Brahman crosses well with many different breeds.

@@V8RanchCattle Thank you for responding and for the invitation! I'm sure I could learn alot from your experiences. Is the heat and dry weather affecting your herd? How is your grass holding up? Luckily we have some green in our pastures despite the lack of moisture.
