I remember something similar happened to me, Listened to a song half asleep and could not remember the name at all. Finally found it after painstakingly searching Godsmack - Under Your Scars

I was obsessed with this song as a boy. I first heard it at a sleepover. The four of us watched cable all night seeing who could stay up the longest. I was the winner and decided to flip the TV over to Much Music to watch the late night music videos because they were usually punk and metal. Stuff they wouldnt show during prime time. The music video for this came on and it kinda creeped me out but I became obsessed with the song after. Thinking back it feels like it was a perfect moment created in space and time just for me. The isolation of being the last one awake in a quiet, dimly lit house. The glow of the TV screen illuminating that living room only enough to make the shadows dance around the corners of my eyes. The scared feeling the video inflicted on me made me feel even more alone in the moment then I was, if that makes sense. Somehow though I didn't mind, I was absolutely transfixed by it and I felt oddly tranquil despite being afraid. It's a kind of feeling that I chase now.

You know i use to feel like everyone hated me.. these lyrics hit so home.. i would cry in the back of the school with no friends literally no one. And no kids would ever come up ti me and ask i was. It only got worse growing up.. i use to hear voices in my head. Kids only bullied me and embarrassed me i was fat and ugly. I never had a gf. And I was riduculed as a kid. Your a freak a loner a creep a weirdo.. these words still haunt me branded on my chest like a disease.. all he know is if he can't relieve it it grows.. those words make me feel so alive. The used has saved my life more then I can remember. Standing over bridges listening to this song blaring in my eardrum. Tears in my eyes just got cutting my arm bleeding and I think.. life has got to get better.

Music speaks volumes like when you listen to love songs but find out its about their mother or a sibling or aunt. You give it personal meaning. It doesn't matter if its about one thing or another.

I was just finishing high school when this came out, I just turned 34. This song will never die. ; ) : )

So, I’ve been trying to remember this song, for weeks. I’m 29 and I used to listen to this ALL THE TIME, in high school. I couldn’t remember anything, not even the band. All I remembered was the emotion behind the song and that the title had “the worm” in it. I’m so glad I found it!

It's crazy how a lot of us in the comments had the same urge to find this song again. I had a flashback of nostalgia for a minute and i remember i was listening to this song, bits and pieces of the lyrics or the music video popped up in my head but for the life of me i couldn't remember what it was called. Finally found it after going down a My Chemical Romance memory lane of songs.

Ah the beautiful middle school teenage angst days! Such a powerful song.

I've lived a sheltered life and as a result many bands like this have just slipped past me. I'm catching up nowadays, but goddamn this song...this hit me hard. If I had heard this a couple years ago It would have broke me entirely. I had those feelings... being scared of losing yourself to the demon inside. We all have scars and demons that we have to overpower.

I heard the lyrics of this song in a TikTok a couple days ago, and I instantly remembered the song. I googled it, anxiously, and eventually found it here on youtube, standing still, 14 years later. This literally brings me back to my teenage years. Back to when I was 14. This band, and this genre moulded me and helped me out of my cage in SO many ways, at SO many different levels. Nostalgia hits HARD. I was so sad, yet so lucky, and I didn't realise. Oh, I miss good ol' 2000s.

I remember discovering this music video one day on Comcast OnDemand, I'd go through the videos every time they refreshed, first it was Atreyu - Becoming the Bull, The Dillinger Escape Plan - Milk Lizard and a lot more but these guys sank their teeth in me and I've been hooked ever since.
