    I love Kaido as a opponent he was boxing like crazy. I just think as a character he wasn't as compelling imo as other major arc villains. Like Doffy or Crocodile or even Big Mom. I'm never gonna disrespect his ability to throw hands that last fight is probably my favorite in the series, but I expected more character wise from someone with 10 literal years of hype

    It is quite refreshing to hear someone criticize Oda. People seem to deify like he can do no wrong in writing but his quality has taken a series dive after the time skip. I 100% agree with your video also how did Kaido get stopped by Shanks and his tiny crew at Marineford?

    Yeah don't get me wrong I love Oda, but yeah people act like he does no wrong. He does miss for me occasionally. Like all the fake deaths and bringing back unimportant characters from the brink of death for no reason. I'm also very interested in seeing how Shanks stopped Kaido from doing something that he wanted to do

    I don't think this take is the worst, but I do think it'll age poorly just because of how well the story ties plot points together later down the line. We probably will learn a lot more about Kaido when we see more of Rocks' era

    I definitely agree. People who say he’ll be expended on when rock gets his backstory always forgot about big mom. Kaido’s backstory is bland, rushed, and wasted. Rock’s story is just a couple years of his life, there’s so much we could’ve seen. Look at Big Mom, we learned everything we need to know about her in 2-3 episodes without spoiling anything about Rocks. Kaido as a fighter is great (minus him killing less people than Kanjuro), but as a character he’s a giant letdown

    His motivations and backstory were withheld by Oda because Kaido and Big Mom are not dead. Big Mom said it herself that she was not going to let that kill her. They will return, and Kaido's intentions and lore will reveal more truths about the world that were hidden from us.

    I was expecting characters like Kaido and Big Mom to never be defeated tbh. Just outsmarted, Luffy getting their Road Poneglyphs and barely escaping with his crew intact, as being the Pirate King isn't about being the best fighter in the world. But oh well.

    I liked kaido character he wanted to die in a way like WB,roger or even oden but not only that he wanted to be remembered like them when they all died people remembers and morns over they death but by the way that kaido was brought up and ruled it would have been impossible for anyone even his own crew to be anything but relived if he was to die it is very ironic that no one saw kaido die when everyone else who I’ve named died in front of countless people while entrusting they will to others and the next generation

    I actually disagree, I get what where you are coming from, but you gotta look at it from two perspectives Story wise: keeping a character as big and as strong as kaido alive would pose a huge writing problem when the war starts, as Oda has to get someone or someones from whatever group kaido chooses to fight and dedicate them to him, which wouldn't make much senese narratively,as it would take the spotlight from character with unresolved conflicts and you can only fit in so many characters Secondly, he got what he wanted, his character arc was resolved, he gave up hope on changing the world after seeing someone as big as rocks fail at it, so he wanted one thing, to die spectacularly, not because he wanted to die, but because he wanted to be remembered, to see people care about him and respect him not out of fear, just like roger or oden or whitebeard, but luffy showed him that in order to be like those men, it doesn't matter how you die, it matters how you lived, and sadly for kaido, he doesn't get to live much longer to fix his mistake Cool video though, keep up

    I agree that Kaido should die before the end it was a huge moment for Luffy and propelled him into proper yonko status in the eyes of the world. That's interesting too that you think Rocks is the reason Kaido gave up on changing the world I've never heard that one before, but I disagree he died the way he wanted to. WB, Roger, and even Doffys death impacted the world. Kaido died in a volcano with nobody to see it, his crew wiped out, the world barely cared. They moved on quickly since Luffy filled his spot anyway. Why did he want to die? Why did he want to start the biggest war ever? Why was it so important for him to find and be defeated by JoyBoy? Why did he give up on being JoyBoy? I think it's silly that he's dead and we still have to wait to find all this out,Arlong and Crocodile were complete as villains since their motivations and reasoning were known within their own arcs with Kaido I don’t know why he’s doing half the shit he’s doing, he is not complete as a character or villain.

    @@imJB23 that's what I meant when I said luffy showed that his ideology is wrong, cause he died in battle, like he wanted, but he's not remembered or respected like the people he aspired to die like, hence luffy showing him( or I guess dead him), that the way you die doesn't matter as much as the way you lived, and roger and all these others ar remembered and respected because of how they lived and the bonds they created

    I felt like Kaido lived up to what i wanted til now. I know we will get more from him later anyhow during a extended rocks backstory. Kaido was first seen in the series jumping from a sky island, crashing into the ground. Leaving a crater. I loved that this was the end of him wano wise at least as well.

  • @Kcobra99
    @Kcobra9919 күн бұрын

    Bad take imo… Kaido entire character was a man born to believe the only thing that mattered in this world is strength. He couldn’t understand why weaklings like the CD’s and his former King got to make the rules when they are weaker than him. He didn’t see himself as JoyBoy, King did. Kaido believed if JoyBoy is real, then he would be the one to defeat him. Kaido, unlike every other villain in the story actually fulfilled his dream. He found defeat at the hands of the current JoyBoy. He lost knowing the person who is actually destined to cause the Great War that he wanted(JoyBoy) actually exist. Also, Kaido wanted Wano because it was a strong isolated nation, and a natural fortress. We also know he found the Ponglygh there as well. The man was depressed because almost every pirate he respected died a grand death. Everyone he felt was strong enough to destroy the current system ultimately failed while he continued to get stronger. Thus, he felt it was his responsibility to bring the world war himself as the strongest, or play gatekeeper for the only person who could defeat him and start the war (JoyBoy).

  • @imJB23

    @imJB23

    18 күн бұрын

    I don't think Kaido fulfilled his dream, I don't think losing to Joyboy was his dream. If anything his dream would have been starting the war against the CDs himself not losing to the person who would after his death. He didn't spend all that time amassing his army wanting someone else to start the war But even your theory on why he's depressed is just headcanon, it could be that. Or that he realized he wasted his life, or he's just sad because he hasn't been tested in years. Or that he couldn't be Joyboy. Plus when he told King he wanted to change the world, and start a war Roger and Whitebeard weren't even dead yet

  • @Kcobra99

    @Kcobra99

    @@imJB23 how is it head cannon when we are told through narration that Kaido sought death. He shows jealousy over how WB and Roger died as well. After knocking Luffy off Onigashima he shows disappointment after stating Luffy wasn’t Joyboy. Go reread chapter 1049 - Kaido congrats Luffy but tells him he can’t change the world. So we know Kaido wanted to change the current system. - In that chapter he shows frustration at why his King has to listen to the CD’s. - In the chapter he agrees with the old hag’s thesis that humanity history is one of solving the world’s problems through brutality. To which Kaido agreed, and as a victim of humans himself he clearly adopted this mentality. - In the chapter Kaido tells his army he wishes to make war against the Celestial Dragons specifically. So again, he states his goals. - In the chapter he literally states that he knows JoyBoy “will” be the man to defeat him while talking to King. Mind you, he says this while smiling, he enjoys the thought of losing. So, again, Kaido wanted to start the Great War to topple the CD’s. While hoping to find the defeat he sought by either losing to JoyBoy or dying gloriously in a great war against the World Government. So how is it you can’t understand his depression? From his perspective, the man saw nearly every pirate who could possibly be JoyBoy die before they could fulfill JoyBoy’s war against the CD’s. Why do you think he remembered his conversation with King only before receiving the final blow from Luffy, it’s because that was his goal, to find the man who could defeat himself, and destroy the world order. Rocks crew failed. Roger was executed. WB died at MarineFord. Oden lost after nearly defeating him. The man couldn’t find joy again until Luffy proved himself to be the real JoyBoy, which is why he actually did achieve his dream.
