yeah they did, it was revealed later on but i couldn't think of another point in the show and the video was too short before that

omg i've been thinking that. maybe wei ying took the sword as a sign that jiang cheng wants him gone, as well as the 'go to hell' soooo possibly he let go because of that?

someone actually explained that scene on tiktok, I was confused why wei ying yeeted himself off when jieng cheng stabbed the rock. The person on tiktok said that when jieng cheng stabbed the rock, he was intending on making both lan wangji and wei wuxian fall by forcing the edge to collapse. I don't believe there is an acutal explaination because lan wangji was never there when wei ying died in the orginal version (the novel) so therefore we can only assume.

In the scene both lwj and wwx were at the edge of the cliff, because in the book jc killed wwx, it would be odd if it wasnt jc who killed wwx in the adaptation cause that is one of the reason why jc's hate has persisted for so long ,he justified his guilt for killing his brother by blaming wwx for all the trouble he caused , it was his coping mechanism. When jc stuck the sword into the rock and twisted it , he intended to break that part off , so that both lwj and wwx would fall to their deaths, thats why wwx pulled his hand away so as to not have another person killed because of him. Hope this helps, this is kinda my interpretation of it.
