Alright, the idea of the boulders with red veins being seals for the underworld is super interesting, and resonates nicely with the "ring stones" connecting to the sky.

Reminds me of the Shintō Legend, were Izanagi plugges the entrance to the underworld with a boulder, to trap his now zombie ex-wife Izanami in there. With all the Shintō inspirations behind the sky islands, it wouldn't surprise me, if this turns out to be indeed another reference. ⛩️📿🧧🙏🧘‍♂️

The way she falls and Ganon surges reminds me a lot of the Abduction of Persephone. Where Persephone was abducted while gathering flowers in a field, where the ground split open from Hell and Hades surged forward and brought her down with him. After the kidnapping, Persephone went from being the goddess of spring to also becoming the empress of the underworld. Plus the vaguely greek aesthetic in some aspects of the game. It's just some parallel I noticed.

It probably isn't what you were going for, but this carries the funny implication that Ganondorf and Zelda actually enter into a pretty well functioning relationship and the Zelda's Mother comes back from the dead to get angry at Ganondorf whenever Zelda isn't around.

I saw huge biblical symbolism with Skyward Sword so I like that your seeing more parallels with other ancient stories in this game. Makes it seem more epic.

I can always count on MM and Zeltik to drag me deeper and deeper into my Zelda obsession. I swear, your videos are addictively high quality.

I believe simple mortals can actually reach the underground because this game is open world, however there has to be a side effect… what if the huge amount of red substance affects our hearts? Maybe when we get hit, we lose hearts without the opportunity to recover them as long as we are stuck in the underground

I've been predicting this for quite some time now. It'll be incredible if it's true. Also, those sparkling lights in Hateno belong to the torches. This effect is present in BotW at night if you move slowly horizontally (say from the tech lab). It's a rendering artifact.

Aah good to know. I thought it was a bit peculiar that these flashes were not visible in any other shot so far. But this is the first view we have of a proper town. So it would make sense for artifacts like these to show up. They are a bit more erratic and noticable than I remember them in BotW though

The Hebra and Death mountain argument is really convincing and the upgraded Shiekha slate really makes me think we might still have underground sections where we can play as Zelda. (not to mention her design change which screams playable character.)

​@@MonsterMaze That would be cool but it would also be kind of weird seeing as the slates are made of "technology" (as far as we're concerned) which doesn't fit very well with the supernatural part of the Zelda universe. Maybe the slate will only allow her to find the spirit flames but without the ability to talk to them.

Gonna call it... The upside down looking guardian with the spool of cable in one of its legs with "Transport" written around it is one of many locations that work the same as an elevator down not up. If there is a really large explorable area that is an underworld there will need to be load points for it. It's one thing having a continuous area from sky to land but an underworld would need loading areas. It's also possible that those "elevators of decent" are part of the new towers we have seen in the trailer. The room we have seen certainly fits the size of the interior of a tower. So maybe the towers are duel purpose. Their height allows for opening up of the map in the overworld but they also double as mineshafts to the underworld.

I remember that feeling when I first started botw. I felt like I didn’t know what to expect and I couldn’t wait. I can’t wait to have the same feeling with totk. I can’t wait for that feeling when I grab the game card from the box and stick into the switch. I literally can’t wait!!!!!

Your description of underground really matched Commonwealth Realm’s theory on the three layers of Hyrule if not the Triforce in Tears of the Kingdom.

I've had demon underground world/hell ideas for a while. I could imagine that some areas of the underworld are more darker and terrifying depending on the demon world's influence.

I must say the writing and presentation on this video is superb. I can see you're both on the same wavelength, both compliment each other perfectly. I hope you do more collabs in the future.

This is just an alternate interpretation of the mural on the steelbook, but the mountains could just be forming a horizon line that the people in the image are standing in front of. They’re not underground just in the foreground.

I respectively considered Zeltik and Monster Maze the 🐐's of Zelda I'm 42 years old and in 1987 I started playing Zelda became my favorite game You guys have reminded me that this is the greatest video game franchise in life

You should revisit this theory. The tallest mountains are the deepest valleys. The lowest plains and canyons are the highest cliffs and plateaus. And each and every river, lake and bottomless pit (minus the chasms) have become impossibly high rock faces that reach up to the very overworld itself. The depths is a literal mirror of its above surface twin. So given it's inverse nature my theory is that depths is none other than Lorule itself, or rather the result of it's inevitable collapse. In fact I would argue that it's the collapse of this realm that ultimately caused the convergence of the three timelines.

I have watced a bunch of your videos and the way you structure them is so nice and easy to follow. I appreciate the slower pace of them as well like some of the other theory channels. You've earned a sub. I hope you continue to grow as a creator :D

In regards to the little blue flames in the underworld, it seems most people are instantly reminded of the spirits in Twilight Princess, but I was actually immediately reminded of the spirits from Four Swords Adventures, when you find little blue flames like that and then see the actual ghost when you get closer.

Her powers, or even the triforce of wisdom, could protect her similarly to how the triforce of courage protected link in tp, but without transforming.

What's the possibility that the yellow objects in Hateno are Poe's? They appear to be cloaked, have an odd looking body and are lit up but without the lanterns. Nintendo seems to have altered some of it's enemy predecessor's like the ReDead's mouth, the three headed dragon and some not so familiar. Obviously Nintendo's strategy is kick up the enemy competition especially since the Guardians are no longer a threat on the land. The Poe's being in Hateno where Links house resides is a given, and the lights floating around maybe something similar to the spirits of light which were once the Hateno villagers.

I'm thinking the green spirals are charge points for your green canisters. You will need to drop them to the ground from the sky islands. you wont be able to attack Gannons minions or underground camps without being able to charge your weapons etc. So you need to explore the sky islands, drop the charge points, then break into the new territories below by charging your cannisters and exploring and repairing underground areas. Thats why you see the deactivated stones on the sky islands.

Interesting idea, but I personally don't think they'll be bringing ammo for major items back. With Link Between World's and Breath of the Wild they decided that major items no longer need ammo as it hinders progression. That said, it's possible they've found a way to make it in a way they consider fun!

Going up to the sky which is the realm of Divinity aka, the Goddesses, and imbuing Link with their power makes sense if you want to tackle Hell and it's demon hordes..

@@Keanine It wouldnt be ammo as such, but the power to run items and create vehicles and weapons. Looks like you need the green energy to build cars, drones and the green lights up when the weapons go off (that dragon head)

I don’t know if the village glowing is related to the “mushrooms”. The reason is when I was playing botw I saw the hateno village flashing lights and glowing . I thought I would just share that.

I’m super excited for the release of this game! I fell in love with BOTW a while after its release. I played a few of its predecessors while I was waiting to get access to it, and liked them a lot, though some of the 3D puzzles were tough for me 😂. BOTW is one of my favorite games. I didn’t even realize a sequel was in development until 2020, and I’m so happy it’s almost here. I’ve never gotten to be a part of the buildup to a Zelda release, and experiencing all the hype firsthand is a ton of fun. I can’t wait to figure out a new game, with no guides or anything! Big fan of this channel, love the awesome quality of content. It’s made waiting way more bearable!

Maybe the Zonai inhabit both the underground and the sky? That would explain why we didn’t see them in Breath of the Wild. Either way, I’m hyped for May 12th!

I have theorized that in the end game you must go below Hyrule on I giant Maze to find Ganon. Like a dungeon the size of Hyrule.

Yes! That came to my mind too when I was doing research for this subject. There's even an entire episode devoted to the underworld if I recall correctly ^^

I really like this theory. Awesome video.

I'm always excited at the idea of skyward sword being tied into more deeply! It brought so much to the table in terms of zelda lore, and being able to bring some of that into future games is so exciting!

That underground section with the metal crates next to where the bokoblins are mining along with Zelda’s official art showcasing a new upgraded sheikah slate almost seems to confirm her as playable and being able to use magnesis and other runes. While links powers will be new and different since they are coming from his arm. I can definitely see them both being playable this time around.

@13:50 We have had portals into a netherworld: the entrances to Lorule in A Link to the Past and A Link Between Worlds.

I love this theory ! But about those flickering lights in Hateno, I think it's just a sort of glitch from the switch, because I saw those same flickers in BOTW when coming down from the lab (and in daylight)

Totk is gonna be massive, I am so excited.

I assumed Zelda might explore the underground for a while now. I don't know if they would add character switching though. Perhaps they went back to SkyS and are going to give us the ability to unlock the adventure from Zelda's perspective?

Yeah character switching seems possible. Unless they want to do it in seperate chapters but... that kinda goes against the whole "open world" freedom philosophy. Getting locked into a character specific chapter would be cool, but also restrictive.

The mushroom is an absolute distraction lol

I really like the access point theory of this. The idea that there are green sky access points, and malice covered underworld entrances

I seriously can not wait for this game.
