Fry is obviously the lead in this sketch but Laurie's contribution is so underrated. To be able to deliver his lines with the frustrated tone and perfect timing while not getting affected by Fry's punches deserves something! I know they are professional actors and trained for all this but still it is not as easy as he makes it look!

Not to burst your bubble, but I heard John Cleese say they spent an hour editing each minute of Fawlty Towers. I rather imagine this is the same, as one has to take longer pauses for a live audience than works on TV. Just saying...

I suppose... It's built into the sketch though; it's not exactly on the spot comedic timing. It's a rehearsed piece 🤷♂️

As has been said, this is immediately apparent as a ripoff of at least two Two Ronnies sketches - the Your Nuts m'Lord sketch and the in the pub sketch where Ronnie Barker keeps finishing Ronnie Corbett's sentences. Fry and Laurie are very talented nonetheless.

Why? It's nothing to do with you how funny Fry and Laurie are, just because you were born on the same approximate lump of land they were. Doesn't mean you're clever or funny. Where's the pride in that? You were born in the same political division as Fred and Rose West, does their skill at getting away with horrific sex murders make you ashamed of yourself? Does Harold Shipman bumping off dozens of grannies mean you ought to do a month or two in prison for murder by association?
"She laughs at my..." "peanuts?" I love Stephen Fry : )
At first I thought "ok, the 2 Ronnies have been here", but to be honest, the punchlines go further, and dare I say it funnier than the 2 ronnies would have (due to their family audience). And even though I've never agreed that Taboo necessarily means funny, the line about how the best Hugh can hope for is a "savoury finger" is just brilliant.
Their timing was superb. Beautiful work from two great actors.
