@@kimboslice5053 😂👌🏼. It's just frightening to see how many go straight to that particular brand for a watch and then treat it as such...the only brand. I try my best not to be a watch snob but rolex guys of the kind that replies"yeah, it's a rolex." When you tell them "nice watch dude" really make it difficult to me not to see them as the watch world's flat-earthers. I don't condemn wanting nor getting oneself a rolex in itself I mean they are technically solid pieces, but the people who tell you a personal story to it are as hard to find as certain steel sports watches are hard to get. My first reaction was "I don't like the look of that at all." but then as you explained the different features and the way that it worked I was increasingly impressed by the ideas and micro engineering which went into this design. 7 days power reserve in a wristwatch is very impressive. I still don't think I would buy one but as an engineering marvel to admire it is impressive.
@JimIBobIJones

The engineering is much less impressive in the 21st century than it would have been the the 20th or the 19th. 3d modelling and technology assisted design means that its pretty straight forward to design an impressive, highly complex movement. That said, even with CNC and other precision manufacturing techniques, physically manufacturing it and making sure it all works is still pretty damn impressive and a feat at the size and scale that it has been implemented.
@owengoodspeed5763

@@JimIBobIJones But we also need to set it in the context of the time and technology it was made in.
@JimIBobIJones
2 жыл бұрын
@@owengoodspeed5763 That's sorta my point. The engineering behind the freak isn't really impressive for a watch designed in the 21st century. It is basically a standard single axis tourbillon but where the escapement/cage rotates every hour rather than every minute. This isn't particularly innovative or difficult. Using the same modelling technologies, 3d printing hobbyists have designed and printed working bi-axis and tri-axis "3d" tourbillons at home much more complicated than this.

Doug's the man! Even though his Reviews are 20 minutes plus, it is always interesting and so is WATCHFINDER! 😁😁😁😁
I swear, this is the single best niche interest channel on KZread. I truly hope, Watchfinder appreciates your work, invisible hand man. Keep on!
I love how the 2 blue/green escape wheels create an optical illusion, because of their shape and movement, and with a bit of concentration you can see them rotate one way or the other

By far the best watch related channel on KZread. Quality, references, everything is top notch.

The lack of a crown really makes this design for me, that simplicity and symmetry is so aesthetically pleasing.
extremely interesting. i dont really like the "design" (if we should talk about how it looks) but i understand the watch is made this way for showing how revolutionary the movement is and i fully respect and admire its amazing engineering. great timepiece.
