    Once those tires cut a trench and that axle grabs you're done. I'd bet an eighties model Toyota souped up would make this run due to how light it is. Hell, put big tires on one of those little Toyotas and it'll float.

    Daniel Robinson turning is hell. I am not sure if they make an ARB locker for the rockwells. I ran a Detroit locker in the front and that helped and a spool in the rear. I miss my truck and that's why I watch these!

    not true. I am in the video at 5:43 and I have a grizzly locker that only locks when one wheel starts spinning faster than the other. So I can navigate very well, however, the turning radius of the 2.5 ton axles suck with these tires. "Have A Nice Day"

    so I'm not trying to be a jerk, I'm truly curious. why do most of these guys seem to run open diffs? Given that I suspect most of these arn't street driven even a welded diff would do the trick.

  • @jeremyeaves5678

    @jeremyeaves5678

    7 жыл бұрын

    Generally, it's because of the massive tires. It seems counter-productive, I know. But the hundreds of extra pounds of weight puts a huge strain on the differentials as it is. An open diff allows there to be some give, and you need that extra give with tires this heavy. If the diffs were fully locked, they'd be snapping axles and shearing ring/pinion gears left and right. It's much easier to get pulled out of the pit than it is to be rebuilding your diffs every weekend!

  • @gpfdrizit

    @gpfdrizit

    7 жыл бұрын

    That's fair, I am used to things under 40 inches. I just tend to think in terms of bigger tires, bigger axles ;) but I could see where you would get to the point of deminishing returns following that logic.

  • @jeremyeaves5678

    @jeremyeaves5678

    7 жыл бұрын

    Yep, and the tractor tires, engine mods and custom subframes already cost enough!If it were up to me (and NOT my wallet), I'd just slap MRAP military axles under 'em. Military-grade, full planetary gears for gear reduction, you'd get 4-wheel steer out of it, plus bomb resistant! Now if you can break one of those, you deserve a medal of honor!

  • @gpfdrizit

    @gpfdrizit

    7 жыл бұрын

    Jeremy Eaves anything can be broken, with enough horsepower and big enough tires, and the will to use em. I suspect it would start with "hold my beer, I wanna try something." ;) I'm betting whatever it was would be spectacular though.
