I’ve tried the new Bosch SX, and its a really powerful motor… but you have to spin like on a road or gravel bike. Mtb single trails are a very different context. On the uphill trails we are forced to stop pedaling for the proper timing with obstacles , or because the hairpins are very tight or simply the trail is to steep to spin a 34x52 gear at 90 rpm. In these situations the SX motor drop 80% of its power and at that time you find yourself on almost analogic bike that weight 20 kg… restarting with the SX motor needs 2 or 3 pedals revolution to get back to power delivery. This is unacceptable on tight steep trails. A fantastic motor for Road or Gravel bike where you can spin all day long at over 90 rpm. Not a good MTB motor for rider that is not limited to traditional MTB uphill trails but wants to do some more technical stuff…

I’m a full power, big battery kinda guy. Always have, always will. “And I’m gonna stick to that for now.” 😂

I'm on my second second spectral on, no one can convince me that a bike with 1 to 2 kilos lighter but on 55nm is a good choice, climbing tech and the decent is what its all about, and when you are spending big bucks buy a bike you came grow into, your skills will definitely improve.After riding DH for more then 20 years I never thought I would get a kick out of riding tech climbs.

Depends on where you live. I'm at sea level, so a lighter bike with a smaller motor makes total sense. I have a 60nm motor and I rarely have it in turbo because it's too powerful.

I prefer the lighter bikes for XC riding, assist when you need it, doesn’t feel like a tank when the motor cuts out at 16 mph on the flat.

I love my Trek Fuel EXe. It just feels like a normal mountain bike, and i love it's agility.

you are right you have to get used to the E bike, I am still getting used to my brakes, I always brake late because I forget all about all the power and weight of the 2022 Giant Reign E+, lots of fun!

Yay! I have the 160 version, which is essentially the same bike with a tiny bit more travel, but, crucially for me, 27.5" wheels, which is why I decided upon buying it! Definitely awesome machines, especially when you do the mandatory derestriction, and unleash the potential of the Bosch CX motor. If you have not done this, I advise using a device called the "Planet 3" which is a mechanical derestriction device, that doesn't cost the earth and allows your motor to assist you up to a theoretical, 47ish mph! So, great choice good Sir!

I’m thinking in buying E-MTB to help me go faster uphill and then enjoy the downhill (with small jumps and technical stuff) the last time a tried a e-bike I think that was to heavy and I can’t play around… To you think that the fly is a good bike for me?

I buyed the Spectral because of all the good tests and reviews but its EP801 just lost the battle in every aspect against my Specialized 2.2. Im riding a Kenevo Pro now and this bike is so much fun even on the street. Feels lighter, even more agile.Maybe this will change with the new Shimano Software upgrade.

Excellent video! The Neuron:OnFly is very nice but the Neuron:On (CF 8 in particular) for me is the best choice. 61 years old, 92 kg, 30 years riding a MTB. I want all the power, full ahead!! And the price is great, best of the market

Full power @16.5 kg!? That sounds awesome, my full power is currently at 60lbs I love my Bulls Copperhead but only con is the weight.

Full power , big battery all the way. Also the SL versions seem to be more ££ - less for more ? That route looked like an awesome adventure where is this Brecon area ?

Forgive me, but why would you rather chose the ever so slightly lighter bike that lacks the power of the other bike, which is barely heavier anyway?! 1-2KG difference will not even be noticed on the full power bike, however the lack of power will be noticed on the barely lighter version, I'm thinking?! And if you want to work out more, just change the torque values in the scary big brother Bosch app!

I agree on 2kg. But my SL is a very different experience to my Turbo Levo. For my physicality and skill 6kg is very noticeable. I'd sell them both for a sub 18kg full power bike. Just need better energy density with lighter batteries.

Its a shame the Neuron On Fly is only 140mm and 130mm......it it was at lease 150mm that would be my next buy!!!

Canyon is asleep at the wheel still, its about time they dropped the Derailleur and added the Pinion-style system. In those rocky trails its even more import to ditch it and Raise the Bottom Bracket !

Motor is rattling so loud.. I really don't like this.

Would love to try out a lighter e bike. My Levo is an absolute unit!

I have a Turbo Levo and the gen 2 SL. Different use cases. But roll on lightweight with high torque/power, range and an mgu. 5 years? Need battery tech to advance.

Not sure 2kg is noticeably different. 6kg sure.

I never understood bikes with range extenders, just get the higher battery life, your not getting the max output from the range extender, and you will wind up needing it anyway.

A light bike without the extender is perfect for after work rides where you not riding miles and miles or if you are riding with analog friends. An extender and accepting the heavier weight is for longer weekend outings on your own or with other e-bikes.

Ohh, you have almost hidden all that rattle.

simple choice: get a Spectral

The thing you dont hear on these videos is the horrendous rattling, my strive on rattles like a bag of spanners. Its the most annoying thing, kills the ride experience, i really wish they would cure this horrific noise.

I'm a 240lb fatass, testing an Orbea RIse now, with the weaker shimano motor. I gotta use turbo on that for the steep uphills! xD

I have an older Orbea Rise and weigh the same. Highly recommend it, just go with the bigger battery option 👍

Rattling noise from the frame and whirring noise from the motor… disappointing 😮
