The Ultimate Spotlight Test & Comparisons | Spotlight Max

Фильм және анимация

4 Spotlights. 15 Projection Lenses. 15 Lights. 115 Pairings.
The Aputure team went hard at work testing dozens of spotlight combinations to bring you comprehensive comparative data on how each spotlight looks, from the falloff to abberation to color shifts.
Read the accompanying blog post for comparative analysis on the Spotlight Max with other ellipsoidal lights: www.aputure.com/spotlighttest-2/
Download the data and stills to make your own comparisons: 1drv.ms/f/s!AqKpraTRyR6ig5lNI...
In this video, you'll see how the center brightness compares to the edges and how much the spotlight and lens pairings shifts in CCT and G/M. Many of these changes are subtle, and it'll inform you as the filmmaker/technician on the best choice of spotlights for your next project, depending on factors such as budget, accessibility, and compatibility.

So this is really optimized for the 1200d. Looks like there’s more output with the 1200d than the 2600 in most cases! 😮

Yes, the spotlight construction pairs well with the 1200d Pro! You do get really nice clean beams with either pair.

There are some inconsistencies with your data. Specifically in the comparisons between the spotlight attachment on the 600c, 600x and 600d. The 600d’s lux reading doesn’t change between the different lenses and don’t match the initial readings before the comparison. Looks like a copy and paste error. Hopefully that’s the only issue but I would recommend rechecking all the data.

Good catch! Thank you for your understanding. [ sinds we talking about spotlight, why the hell are the amaran spotlight iris rings almost halve the price of the new amaran 150 light 🤔……. Something of with the pricing here !!! Did ask the question at ibc Amsterdam how ever head of sales department was to busy to adress it himself. Don’t blame him tho, what’s a busy few days 😏 ]

The amaran spotlight SE iris is $45 and the amaran 150C is $305 (on sale right now) but typically $345. Do you mean an amaran 100d? That's $169 on sale $199 normally... Or did you mean the amaran lenses which are $135 each(on sale $169 normally)? If that is what you meant, well that is the cost of optics, precision glass optics are not cheap. A more apt comparison is to compare the spotlight SE lenses with other lenses; the new spotlight Max lenses are $690 each, almost half the cost of a full spotlight max w/1 lens. Aputure Spotlight classic lenses are $259 each. A nanlite lens for their bowens spotlight mount is $279, the projection lenses for their 60W light are $149 each...

@@danielcolmenares5608 [ nah bro I mean the iris in the Netherlands goes for anything between 65 and 119 euros in europe if you can find one . That’s fucking crazy!!! If it’s not amaran / aputure but the sellers in Europe that got the price way of, then their should be a different way to get the items over seas for a cheaper prizing. Or the iris should be in the package 📦 since there is a slot in the box anyways. Anyways …. What I’m saying is , I need the iris asap man !!! ]

I'm sorry, I'm quite confused about these readings. Please correct me if I'm wrong, according to the data you provided: LS600D (spotlight mount 36 degrees) Center brightness at 3m = 9109 lux LS1200D (spotlight max 36 degrees) Center brightness at 3m = 8829 lux XT26 (spotlight max 36 degrees) Center brightness at 3m = 9920 lux LS300d ii (spotlight mount 36 degrees) Center brightness at 3m = 8117 lux These comparisons show similar brightness levels, which seems a bit odd. Is it correct to say that the LS300d Mark 2 is mostly the same as the XT26? Additionally, if the LS600D with a spotlight mount of 36 degrees can achieve 9109 lux, why would someone bother getting a bigger fixture like the LS1200D with a spotlight max that only reaches 8829 lux?

The data wasn't copy and pasted correctly. Here's the correct data: LS600D (spotlight mount 36 degrees) Center brightness at 3m = 9019 lux LS1200D (spotlight max 36 degrees) Center brightness at 3m = 8829 lux XT26 (spotlight max 36 degrees) Center brightness at 3m = 9920 lux LS300d ii (spotlight mount 36 degrees) Center brightness at 3m = 6230 lux Comparing the center of a single lens between the LS300D Mark II and the XT26 doesn't tell the entire picture. 1) Check the other lenses. with a 19deg, the XT26 outputs 23,140 lux, whilst the LS300D Mk II outputs 8532 lux. 2) In addition. it's a much more even field in the Spotlight max, so although the middle doesn't seem as bright, the edges don't fall off as much. The original spotlight mount has ~1.2 stop falloff to the edges, but the XT26 + max at 36deg only falls off 0.4 stops. That's where the "output" goes. So, center value reading doesn't mean everything-that's why we've supplied all the photos of the field, as well as edge measurements as well.
