I forgot how much I love this game. My ideal blend of satisfying action combat, puzzle solving, massive boss battles, very diverse level design and platforming, all brought together with an interesting reimagining of iconic names and mythos. Top tier Castlevania game overall and the best 3D one imo

It's kind of crazy how well this game holds up.
Descending into the dismal depths of the deadly dungeon, drowning in droves of diminutive demons. The new tongue twister of 2024
My favorite about this Castlevania remake that it was a deep grounded and pure Shakespearean story. Making who's the tragic hero become a tyrannical evil vampire. Thanks for Sir Patrick Stewart's voice as Zobek, he literally narration his story like a myth.
The ending was a huge twist
Great to see you back my boy
That looked like a pretty good reboot adaptation. I haven't had a chance to play too many of the newer Castlevania's so it was good to catch up on the story. Thank you for the Recap series, they are awesome!
LoS 1 and 2 both have their problems, but I love them both. The combat was satisfying and approachable. I also adore the music composed by Óscar Araujo. I wish MercurySteam was able to complete their story.
Yaay! I haven’t seen people talk about Castlevania in a while!
In hindsight, we really should have seen the ending coming given how Impalement seems to be Gabriel's go-to method for finishing his enemies.
This game was impressing for its time and it aged quite well. I love how the story is presented (and narrated by Patrick Stewart nontheless...) and the way we are incentivized to revisit old areas to unlock more upgrades. The only downside for me are the odd controls that took me a while to get used to.
GLORY BE TO THE LOCAL BLACK MAGE...
Great way to end a Friday
Welcome back man!
Perfect timing❤
Wooo more Castlevania
I think these games get a bad wrap. Sure I love the SotN/gba/ds games more than the NEW/SNES ones, but these and the 64 games hold a special place in my heart
I love this game. It’s definitely a hidden gem. I didn’t care for the sequels though.

Yeah same
For Recaps, can you try the JoJo's Bizzare Adventure video games? Particularly Phantom Blood PS2, Heritage for the Future's Super Story Mode and Golden Wind PS2?
Ah yes, this attempt by Konami to reboot the Castlevania franchise. Admittedly, this first entry wasn't bad. It's the 3DS tie-in, and the actual sequel that was extremely underwhelming, which squandered this franchise until the Netflix series happened.

Yeah, despite how great this reboot was, it's a shame the 2 sequels could not keep the momentum going, but I feel a large part of that was them trying to pander to playstyles too hard.

@gravityshock7283 There was the DLC that explained how Gabriel became Dracula. A 3DS tie-in game that showed Gabriel/Dracula first defeat against Simon Belmont and the origins of Trevor Belmont becoming Alucard. Finally, there's Castlevania Lords of Shadows 2.
I played it and, while not bad, just.... didn't scratch my Castlevania itch as much as I thought it would....
hello i had a request could you also recaps older games like gta games or marvel or call of duty games or dc games
Hey Oni. What's your most anticipated game this year?

Whoop!
Devs don't do this plot heavy action games anymore. Genre slowly died over the years. There were so many in the PS360 era. Only God of War lives nowadays. Thanks for reminding me how great was this game. I played it on release and that's it. Never played the sequel though.

Exactly, the era with substantially written campaigns for action and shooter games is basically over and is SO rare now. It's like action/shooters now either have little to no formal story, or extremely long, boring cutscenes trying to be dramatic TV shows or movies.
Robert Carlyle is a brilliant actor but he feels completely misused in this game and its sequels
I personally prefer the classic franchise. However, that's not to say I dislike the Lords of Shadow franchise. Heck, Lords of Shadow has a lot of ideas which I think could be worked into the main Castlevania timeline somehow.

Nothing important for the story was excluded
I didn't like this one. It felt more like it was feeding off shadow of the colossus and devil may cry than improving upon the strengths of the series

While it is true 3 bosses can be directly compared to SotC, the comparison literally ends there. The combat is closer to original God of War, and while that was a common comparison back in the day, the reason why people did not dismiss it as a GoW clone like Dante's Inferno is because it DID focus on being a Castlevania game first, with a focus on challenging action, platforming, huge boss fights and rewarding exploration across a 'journey'. It it honestly one of the best representations of the pillars of what makes Castlevania games 'Castlevania'
