Thanks for the compliment! Parrying is a pretty niche topic, so I wouldn't be surprised if the view count stays pretty low on this one, but that's fine. I just wanted a video out there that compiles all of this information cause parry vids I've seen kinda just say "Parry when their arm is raised." And end it at that!

What got me was you taking the time to show us that you've made shortcuts in the video, I just thought that was really clean and well polished. Amazing video bro thank you. Another tip with carian retaliation you can parry almost any magic/incantation projectile ash of war. The only one i found that it doesnt work with are the triple rings of light. Soo many ashes, you can parry the black knife, lightning bolt, malikaths blade, moonveil, reduvias daggers, etc along with projectile incantations even Elden stars.

This channel is great! A mountaintop-high thumbs-up and a sub!

Another thing, there is actually another ash which can parry that no one has ever noticed: Thops Barrier. That can block magic, incarnation AND weapon! This is my recent discovery. Can Carian Retaliation block incarnation? I am not sure. But checking the time I feel that the frames data is more closer to a medium shield normal parry, unlike Carian Re/Golden. Can you add Thops Barrier into your research? I do vids myself and I understand what it feels when I found I missed one thing when I actually want to cover everything in the game!!! So no worries. There are so many things to explore in this game so even this one is missed I still like your vid.

I think the literal ONLY issue with the video is writing off weapon parry’s. With the ability to dual wield weapons (a double curved sword bleed build for example), with the added option to parry has potential to outclass a shield parry based on the use, however parrying itself is worse. Just a thought for those wanting to still use a weapon parry. (wakizashi also can be dual wielded with katanas, and has much better active frames than curved sword or thrusting sword. Edit: I know I’m late as hell to this party but I’m trying to learn how to do this now😭

Really helpful video thank you. And did any of the shields with ash of war get nerfed? Like less parry frams or something? I know that carian revelation got nerfed but only damage wise if im not midtaken or did they give it a tighter parry window too now?

I played “Baby’s first dark souls” aka Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom Coming into elden ring feeling confident about “I’ll just parry everything like I did to Lynels and Ganon!” I felt disappointed that it’s a lot harder and I can’t have a safe parry and a good blocking shield But this changes everything! Thanks so much, anything to try to give my elden ring parries as similar frames to Link’s Parries

My bad on that one. I covered a bit the timing on when an attack needed to connect at the shield section and the frame data visually shows when a hit should land, but I suppose I should have gone over the timing a bit more in the early section. Thanks for the suggestion! I find timing to be more of an experience thing that can't be absorbed through a vid. All of the information on the ways to make your parry window 2-3x larger I feel are the best ways to drastically help with parry success.

OK this helps somewhat. Although presents things extremely confusing. Especially early on keep mentioning medium shield vs buckler or small. But never mention buckler vs small. So yes the info is good to know which shield to use. But still never explains how to use parry at all.

Going through a perry only kills run . Golden parry ash of war helps

I only use parry on my cleric, that way I can miss a parry and recover from it no problem with heals later

It should not affect as your game is slower even though you have less frames to work with.

Do Storm Wall and Thops's Barrier have the same frame data as Carian Retaliation?

Nope. Storm wall is like a medium shield parry and Thops' barrier is slightly worse. Carian Retaliation is by far the best parry tool(along with golden parry if you roll that way)

You and me both! My parries are low-key trash 😅

I for some reason parry better with the parry ash of war and parry worse with carian retaliation. Felt like I was never getting parry when using it in melee.
