Hey, it's nice to listen to what you have to say. I like your presentation skills, and the length of your vids is always good. Some things take longer than others to explain. You don't waffle, so you shouldn't worry about length. I've just finished my BSc as a mature student (35). Will start a Master next month. I wish I could apply for the Clinical Doc but I don't have AP experience and by the time I might get it I'll be 60...🤣. Counselling Psychology would be more reasonable for me in terms of actually getting in but... I can't afford it.

Haha aww thank you! And, it won’t take that long for sure!!! I know many who have had career changes at 35 and now are wonderful psychologists, best of luck x

You don’t actually need AP experience to apply, it can just be advantageous. You can gain mental health experience in other roles like support work, definitely apply!! Good luck 😊

This was so helpful as per usual, thanks Aika! I wasn't planning to, but I'm going to do a "practice" application this year with the aim of making a more competitive attempt next year. I'd be really interested to know what your process was for deciding which courses to apply for (if you haven't answered that already!). I've been through the alternative handbook and university pages and have managed to rule out a few which I don't stand a chance at due to limited experience/ poor A-Levels which unfortunately happen to be the ones that are geographically nearby. The rest which I meet the essential criteria for are blurring into one in my mind!

Thank you for the video Aika! Would it be possible for you to do a video on what opportunities/internships undergraduates can do to gain clinical psychology experience?

How much emphasis do you think they’d put on a level results? Mine weren’t the best but if I got a first would that still be something they consider?

Can I ask how important is research experience for the application, if you have not had any experience with research except undergraduate level then what would you suggest we write? That part is always scary to fill out.

I keep seeing people recommending 'Becoming a Clinical Psychologist' by Steven Mayers and Amanda Mwale and 'How to Become a Clinical Psychologist' by Laura Golding and Judith Moss and I don't really know this difference or which one is best!

Hello, from your opinion, you think there is any opportunity in clinical ( psychology) practise for automation or innovation in the new digital age, where everyone is trying to learn to code!! 😂😂. I know it's hard to automate a psychologist but outside of that, can the field be technologicaly advanced? Thanks for the videos.

Yes! I worked with a startup that automated at least the initial engagement - NHS IT definitely needs improvement, and who knows what Musk’s neuralink will do in 10 years time ...

Why don't you have 100 times more subscribers? I just watched someone whom I would very generously describe as less competent, doing a similar video. Yet that person has about 50 times more followers. You Tube is very peculiar.
