Well they completely butchered it, changing the way the bottom panels work, removing some of the brick layers, completely removing the top interior sections, etc.

The hammer is for pounding large plates in, they're included in most Mould King sets. They have a place to push in technic pins as well as a brick separator

Tbh I’d like it if Lego also had a hammer. I had to make pressure against the wall while building the panels in the UCS ISD, it’s so tedious and takes too long

If they sold the Death Star as sections that you could collect and then put together to make a complete Death Star then that would be really cool. Each section could be played with individually. It would solve the weight and storage issues.

@@MandRproductions An idea for a “Death Star” mod build I have is to use four current sets, plus additional bricks, to recreate Kenner’s power of the force Death Star. It’s basically four levels. The top level is the tractor beam controls and Death Star cannon, which could be recreated using 75246. Second from the top is the bridge scene, 75229. 3rd is detention level controls. The bottom level is the trash compactor, where 75339 could be used.

Looking at this build is like witnessing an OSHA violation.

I could see it being done, but it needs a lot of refinenent, specially with stability Perhaps with an official model, either half of it is paneled, so you can display either the interior or exterior side, OR they make removing the panels easy, so you can pick if you want it displayed covered or not.

QD panels would be an amazing addition, LEGO frequently takes hints from MOC sets and improves things like that and ease of build. I wait for that, THEN buy LEPIN and save 50% off the good builds :P I buy all my small sets LEGO tho

Id love to see this except the panels are hinged from the top, and are just remoable, so the whole top hemisphere removes, not to mention lego would for sure not give this a base due to stability, and it would just rest on the ground by itself which is perfectly fine

I think if you want panels for a UCS Death Star, they should make the panels something like the ATAT where you can take it off and attach it back on relatively easily. That’s what I think should be done if you want to include scenes from the movies.

Lego would do better than the panels with large gaps? You do have every play scale Millennium Falcon before the current version...right? It would probably be better if they had removable panels instead of the ones that fold down. Now, regarding Mould King, copyright issues aside, their sets are usually pretty good. They use "gobricks" brand bricks that are actually really good quality "knock off" bricks. The feel and fit are usually pretty close to Lego and much higher quality than the traditional knock off bricks which are often a slightly harder plastic. This is also why Mould King sets are a little more expensive than other Chinese brand sets, because they use higher quality bricks. I have the Empire over Jedha set from them and it is outstanding (yes I know it's from rebrickable). It looks amazing. The build process was a little tedious with the layered plates, but the end result is absolutely fantastic.

It seems Mould King changed the set a little which compromised it's stability.

Making great videos while still moving/transporting sets is amazing.

That's less a problem of it being fake lego and more about the design, but pieces being of lower quality doesn't help lol

I built the lepin (mould king) set and had no issues. It has all the rooms from the movie and a couple extra ones. Great play features, including a chute where you can fall from the detention block into the trash chute! It is a hard build and not for beginners.

I feel like Ryan could have just tapped it with his bat and it would have broke even more. 💀

I would love a lego set where it is a purely display set, of the DS, but with a removable panel that would transform it into the DS2. If there is any other differences other than the non completion, you could include dual option mini builds such as the sequels antenna on the UCS Falcon.

I feel like a good work around to access the inside could be done by making the top and bottom panels removable by taking off two separate big pieces, one for the top and one for the bottom, well actually it’d probably have to be two big pieces for the bottom due to the stand holding it up would be in the way, but that’d be far more effective, instead of folding out each panel one by one

I’ve got an idea for you, create a Death Star hanger mock using only the pieces from this😂😂

I think a Lego Death Star with Panels could work in Micro scale form. Kinda like the Lego Hogwarts with Microfig scale interiors. And the panels come of like the Millennium Falcon where they are hooked on and can be taking off.

I think that it would be a good idea if Lego were to make a u.c.s Death Star, that was modular like the Ghost Buster Firehouse. You could take it apart in layers, but still be able to access the interior with removable panels on the side. The different modules would also be accessible through the top.

legit MK uses GoBricks most of the time and those Bricks actually have better quality than those from Lego at the moment especially the colour and the gate points

If Lego did one like this, the top panels could be lifted off in one go like a lid. Although you probably wouldn’t be able to easily get the bottom half off (unless you can lift out the internals, but then there wouldn’t be enough stability), and would still be too heavy and look bad

With open top, the MK model looks like a (giant) "Protea" flower. So, a design of a covered DS should create a liftable dome (top cover) instead. Another approach could be a rotating dome, with a quarter open (or a window), to reveal section by section when spin around.

I don’t see where that is a knock-off. It’s a competitor. Mouldking is amazing. Bought the Jedi Temple with 3.5k pieces for 130€ and I was overwhelmed. Amazing quality, way better colors, better fitting and overall quality of the bricks. Also I found the Hammer super useful. When stacking plates over plates you don’t want to miss out on that thing.
