The Ultimate Laptop Stand Tier List: Find Your Perfect Fit

Ғылым және технология

These are not the official names of the laptop stands, I just came up with it to explain the builds better for the tier list. I am not that awesome. Yes, I know I am sweating, I live in Southeast Asia give me a break.

This list is so hilariously bad, guy doesn't even realise you're not supposed to use the keyboard on your laptop when it's on a stand 🤡

One of the criteria for a "good laptop stand" is portability. We can't always use a keyboard on tight spaces like coffee shops or airports when work needs to get done. Not all of us sit at home to work or play bro.

@@JosellClark I'd say that without external keyboard even if you are at home to work or play all day it still might actually be better. I currently have the back of my laptop propped up with a book and I much prefer the slightly angled keyboard to it just being flat.

I use a vertical laptop stand where I just close the laptop then dock it vertically to help save space. While using this I connect the laptop to a monitor with external keyboard and mouse and speakers/headset. The vertical laptop stand actually is decent for cooling as the temperatures in the vertical stand are actually on par or even better than those active laptop coolers.

I used a laptop stand like you mentioned, not recommended at all for gaming/heavy tasks and/or if the vents are at the back of the machine (like gaming laptops). Read somewhere, that most laptops dissipate heat through some vents near the lid and keyboard so it's recommended to use the laptop open.

You need to try out the iets gt500, or even the iets gt300. They allow air to flow directly into your intake vents/ grills. The gt500 is considered to be one of the best (you showed it), it actually lowers temps and stops thermal throttling. You could check the klim kn01 (specifically the 4300rpm version). Check your temps and clock speeds if your going to test one like these. I used the gt300 before and it actually works.

Np, just remember, the higher that wattage your laptop uses, the more heat it creates, so you may need a more powerful cooler. I use an MSI GF63 i5 10500h (45 watts max, hits 50 when rendering) + GTX1650 Max Q (40watts max), with a klim kn01, it works well without thermal throttling unless I'm rendering something (Just that it'll take longer to thermal throttle and by the time it does, the render is completed). Love your vids, I already took some inspiration for a laptop desk setup with placing an SSD and Muktiport adapter at the back of my laptop with velco. Looking to get a right angle type c adapter to angle the multiport's cable along the length of the laptop rather than just having it sticking out. I'm also using a phone as a secondary monitor for smaller tasks, gonna attach it like those magsafe mounts for laptops.@@JosellClark

At home, my improvised laptop stand is the two foam packaging for my laptop that I would place below the left and right side of the laptop. But at my boarding house, I just positioned the laptop near the edge so that the air vent is sticking out from my very small foldable table.

I'm using a 360 rotating stand from Ugreen. I have yet to find a use case for the rotation feature, but it's nice to have nonetheless! Rotation is smooth and tactile, it has a satisfying feeling. Actually I do find myself adjusting it a tiny bit (few mms) depending on how I'm sitting, but that might just be an OCD thing. Quality on the stand is top notch, but that's to be expected from a 50$ stand.

Generic stands for gaming laptops are a bad idea, they don’t support in the right places and can even block some air intakes. Gaming laptops are designed to sit on all of their feet to stop motherboard warping that causes cracked solder. Do NOT stand the rear feet on books!! It bends the chassis. No stand on the market supports my ROG G18, which is HEAVY and has 5 feet plus several support beams under vital parts of the chassis, all of which need to rest on a rigid surface to keep the chassis and motherboard from bending in the middle over time. I had to build my own bespoke stand in the end which, although not pretty, supports the whole laptop and drops CPU temps by 5 degrees.

thanks for the great tip! Unfortunately, not everyone has the time or patience to build their own stand. Especially when people replace their laptops after a few years or so. But thanks for the insight!

I play on Southeast Asia server which I haven't encountered cheaters. In East Asia servers there are a lot and they are open about it 😂
