That special 4 count, feel me? The 1st and 4th are on the 3rd beat of the measure, but the middle 2 are on the off beats. Count 1 AND 2 AND 3 AND 4 AND for this. the "AND" is the off beat, not to be confused with the DOWN beat. place the snare on 3 4 AND 1 AND 3

To start off your basic structure Kick on 1 Snare on 3 and 7 Clap on 2 and 4 Then go from there to make more complexity to your joint

why you even want to sidechain? i dont get why everybody want to sidechain the kicks. just use a good kick and level them with the 808, softclipper on your master and thats it

BusyWorks is great for beginner stuff, but my issue with his channel is that he keeps the intermediate to advanced stuff reserved for his paid courses and that's fine, but hearing him talk about how he "went to school for music" but he "doesn't wanna confuse ya'll with advanced stuff" is super obnoxious. I'm trying to learn advanced stuff, so gatekeeping it really makes me not wanna watch his videos. He's got ONE video where he dropped some sauce on how to make realistic sounding guitar melodies recently, but every other time i've watched him, i just didn't learn what i wanted because the explanation was extremelyyyy rudimentary. I like how BroBeatz gets into it cuz that's what we actually need. I can't tell you how many times I've heard BusyWorks brag about his knowledge on music theory in his videos and how he went into college for it, but then doesn't expound upon any principles outside of basics and that's an issue for me because I watched a lot of his videos when I was just starting out, but I been at this for 6 years now and I need something beyond those basics.

I honestly think it's unfair to equate BusyWorks and BroBeatz in any way. Not fr a slam against BusyWorks, but BroBeatz is leagues above him in terms of showing, teaching and explaining more in-depth techniques n such.

C3 I think. Whatever is the root note and sounds normal. Just pitch it up between the different c notes and listen to what is the original sample. If you do tune your kicks it may sound better. It's easier to tune them if you pitch them up to c5 since you can hear the "note" of the kick easier.

Kick is not used all the time bc some 808s are just meant to be on their own
