Getting haircuts in other countries is something that’s become a tradition of mine over the past few years. I knew I wanted to experience a true Iraqi barber experience in Baghdad, so I headed out to an unnamed barber shop that only locals know about!
I wanted to get my facial hair trimmed the way the locals in Iraq get theirs. I was hoping for a nice fade. It was really late, though, and I was exhausted! I almost started falling asleep as he trimmed my beard with the clippers!

I try to get a haircut in every country I go to now just to compare and contrast them. Each one is different! Also, they’re extremely relaxing. It’s like you’re getting pampered, and a lot of times, they also give you a head, neck, or back massage!
I liked the way the barber faded my sideburns and into my beard. It felt so good. I loved being able to just sit back and relax. Then, he used the clippers on my head and then applied aftershave. My beard looked like those of the locals!
Then, he cleaned me up a bit with the straight razor and trimmed more off of the top of my head. After that, he trimmed my eyebrows with scissors.
Next, a new guy came in to give me the facial and massage. He put a creamy mask all over my face and massaged the top of my head, my face and the back of neck. It felt downright orgasmic!
Then, the barber shaved a bit more using the straight razor and then it was time to wash my head and face! I felt so refreshed!
Finally, he sprayed some liquid on my face and head. Altogether, it cost me $15 USD, as opposed to the $100 the same experience would cost me in Miami! What a deal and what an incredible haircut and massage in Iraq!

Olive Grace: no name. Probably cheaper to not have towels because of the cost of cleaning and washing. Will have to hire a washer. And probably that's why the price was so cheap for what David had done.🇹🇹🇨🇦
