virtual desktop has a pretty nice way of watching 3d movies, and you can find a lot of 3d movies online if you sail the seven seas

I highly recommend the 3d movies in Bigscreen - it really pops in VR

Yeah I'm kinda baffled. All these videos should start with that since all other players are utterly deficient in the main reason to even watch movies in vr in the first place - stereo 3D!

Virtual Desktop helped me get the highest video quality for my movie streaming out of all the apps available. If you've got a good wifi connection, it's just as good as being at your PC.

For me it starts and ends with 4XVR.. it's the only way to watch full quality 3D Blu-ray movies. all the others require lower quality since they can't decode MVC

I bought Heresphere media player. It will play back a sort of 3D VR that Bigscreen can not handle. If you like having a shitload of parameters to tweak Heresphere is your toy. One thing I don't understand is : when trying to play a local file, and the player/quest3 doesn't have the codec to play it, how do you install the codecs?

The beauty of the Quest 3 is the large choice of apps we have to watch our videos. :)

On Skybox, if you choose the "Void" background, you can use the controller trigger button to move the video around and use the thumb stick to zoom in and out to get the best viewing angle/experience. This is my default setting as it gives the least distractions around the video.

Is the updated version of BigScreen available on Quest 2? I checked it a few months ago, and it was pretty unchanged. Still great

also use the questoptimizer app - set resolution to hd+, cpu and gpu to dynamic, and foveater rendering off

What was the last app you were using that let you watch from an IMAX Theater? Does anyone know?

I been trying to watch movies and things with the streaming apps I have with mates over the internet in big screen but can’t ever do it. Don’t know why. Any advice? I can watch on my own fine and they can get into my cinema space. But they don’t see what I’m seeing. How do I make it so they do?

Where can you buy 3D movies? The only legal way to do it is to buy a physical disk and burn it into your pc right? Or is there a website where I can buy and own a digital version?

I don’t think I’ll ever want to just chill in a headset for that long but it is cool. I might watch a short episode but I feel like I’m always wanting to be free to do something else or walk around while watching stuff.

For watching movies or TV in Quest, solo or with friends, it begins and ends with Big Screen. It's ALL you need. I have used it as much as any game I've played on it. I stream my desktop to it to watch all of my personal movies too.

For Bigscreen, I find it causes too much glare in quest3. Using players where you can move the screen up, and also you can create some light around the screen background, really helps get rid of glare.

Totally best way to watch movies ever. I prefer it anyday to going to iMax even. Heavy Bigscreen user here but always stream remote desktop from PC.

Skybox will also play video files from a USB C portable jump drive. Just plug it into the headset and you can then navigate to those files in the app.

See my most glaring issue though is how are 2 people locally supposed to enjoy this "home theater" i have a quest 3 and a quest 2 for friends + my partner has 1 as well so i'm wondering how it can be possible to do locally. the audio is always so much of a killer for it that she generally can't watch anything through. if i'm on link to PC and use bigscreen so i can open a browser and stream anything without bigscreens restrictions suddenly i have 16ms latency and she has about 600-1200ms of latency since she is joining the room so it's already hard enough to do let alone if i wanted to be able to do it with someone else too. i feel that it's an AMAZING feeling to experience but only have of the experience is there.

if you want also home theater like sound, get the grado sr80x headphones witht the VEVER replacement earpads for the grado gs1000i. oh it sounds just like my home theater system

virtual desktop running streaming services through firefox and you are set. One thing you didn't cover, orientation in the environment. Virtual desktop allows custom orientation, so, for example, if you chose to watch movies while laying down on the couch, or while in bed, you can orient the viewing angle to be directly in front of you even though you are looking at the ceiling.

Bigscreen and spatial have a strange problem with supporting BT headphones on quest 3, after connecting to quest 3 the sound crackles and the image seems to play a little slower, but with Jack headphones it works fine. Can anyone confirm this?

I have a similar problem on my quest 2 everytime I connect my Bluetooth headphones the audio gets slowed and disoriented….this is very annoying

i use skybox vr for local movie files... i filled up my 512GB with movies there... the only thing is that you cant search your library so you have to scroll through tons of content if you fill up your memory like i did....

Love big screen, the karaoke is hilarious and it's great for sports events.

Try turning off bluetooth and starting/hosting your big screen room. After it's up, you can re-enable Bluetooth and use your headset. Should work from there.

When I use BigScreen and enter a social random room with others, all i see on the screen is a dark gray screen with BigScreen logo on it. I do hear the audio but not the video part.

4xvr is by far the best 3D movie player on Quest. Hoping the other ones catch up, but it's a no contest here so far.

Yes... Quest 3 and SkyBox is Great/Phantastic! AND since the last Update it Support OVR-USB Support, you now need not to Copy the Movie to the Quest, only connect a USB-Stick to the Quest (it actually support until 1TB !) and you can see all your Movies (inc. 3D) from the USB-Stick! 👍😀

I really like Skybox. Im creating 3D movies and it is perfekt to test it out before it is send to the cinema :) It is so easy just to drag a file to your desktop application and it is ready to test out in the headset. Do you know how to copy files to the headset? When I want to show friends the movie I have been working on and Im not at home, et would be nice to be able to store the movie on the headset itself :)

as soon as the quest weight as much as a normal sun glasses, i can see myself watching a full length movie comfortably.

Skybox is definitely my favorite.

After you reviewed Bigscreen, you switched to some sort of "local" app that you spent the rest of the video on. I rewound the video several times and still could not figure out the name of the final app you were raving about. So maybe a little bit of a fail there? or maybe I'm just tired? Anyway can ANYONE enlighten me as to what the final app he said he preferred, for local files viewing?

that netflix app on the quest... is the same they shipped when google daydream and samsung gear vr came out in 2016.. same environment same app... it looks the same.... thats probably why is in 480p... because those headsets were smartphones in a vr goggles case... and the screen is too close to you even when you make it bigger ....

Interesting how options really haven’t changed much since Quest 1. Only thing different today is that Virtual Desktop has been thrown in the ring. Bigscreen has a lot to pick from but have always had issues with streaming quality esp. in user rooms. If you have content on a file server, nothing still beats Skybox on the daily, hands down.

Your right, he didn't say...but it's Skybox. Most I've seen cost something, but not much. I bought Heresphere, it's the more costly one at about $30 If I remember right.

Big screen is definitely worth it to watch movies in VR with friends!

Damn, Prime Video VR still works? I thought that the application had been dead for over a year, throwing the code 4107, earlier it could be deleted in the device's memory, but then for a year only 4107... even changing quest 2 to quest 3 did not help, judging by the current comments, I was not the only one, and yet this video shows that logging in still works for some people

Bigscreen beta worked great on my quest 2. I bought quest 3 yeaterday, and the clarity is amazing, howewer, bigscreen always messes up my floor level and spawn me in a chair, not on it so I can't see the movie screen... Dkes anybody have the same problem or a solution to this?

@@cn9296 If you can, buy quest 3, however its not ideal for watching movies as displays are LCD and resolution isnt as high as typical smart TV. I have Quest 3 and im satisfied with it when watching movies, but I dont have OLED display or TV, so the blacks dont stand out to me at all

@@cn9296 Absolutely. The quest 3 has different lenses than the 2, it has a better resolution, and actually a separate screen for each eye, while the 2 has only one screen. The lenses are better too, so there is a much bigger "sweet spot" in quest 3 than in quest 2. It means you don't have to always adjust the position of your quest in order to see the image clearly. The performance is also better, the menu feels snappier, faster. The only thing that is worse than the quest 2 is the battery life, but youbcan extend that by external battery pacs or battery straps form 1.5-2 hours to almost 5.

Every time I start BigscreenVR the menu is at my feet. To be fair I should say I am lying back in bed. I need to reach down deep with the controller and click over to settings, then raise the menu and screen with the positioning buttons. Pain in the royal ass. And many times the qwerty keyboard is way down there where I can't get to it!

I prefer the Quest Pro because the colors and black level are better in a theater setting.

Still don't have a quest 3 yet. Still enjoying my quest 2.

It's too blurry to watch movies on Metaquest, especially when it's dark, even after cleaning the lenses perfectly.

I think the quality of streaming for Disney and prime is trash... It's way better in the actual Prime VR app for some reason. I hope a fix come soon. Maybe it does exist yet, any advice to improve video quality ? Thanks

But you can do this with quest 2 for just 200.00 how much better is the quest 3 for watching movies? If you can wait then maybe quest 3 lite would be better value, so for me don't get quest 3 if you just want movies, get it for all the other things it can do.

Well with the Quest 2 you have way more god-rays and it's more exhausting to watch because you only see clear through the center of the lenses. So if something happens on the edge of the big screen you'll have to turn your head. Quest 3 has way less god-rays (only some faint glow) and it's actually pretty sharp from edge to edge so you can just move your eyes instead of your whole head. Above all that the screen is quite a bit sharper on the Quest 3. So it wins over the Quest 2 any time. But I wouldn't buy a headset if you are planning to just use it to watch movies. The whole experience isn't THAT good yet, audio isn't great for movies and using great headphones in combination with a good headstrap (which you'll need) isn't really possible. So you'll end up having half the movie experience and then you'll probably start noticing that it isn't as comfortable as watching a movie on a real screen.

I watch movies on Skybox the most but Bigscreen is great. Let’s hope Disney+ comes to Quest with proper 3D. Ain’t no way I’m paying £3500 for an Apple Vision Pro.

Worth a look as it can play MVC 3D isos directly so no need to compress videos as SBS anymore. It is a bit expensive tho.

Quest is best value for money. Meaning the 10% quality improvement from AVP, is not worth the 600% added cost

Ultimate VR Home Theatre! most can afford. Heck, even Quest 2 has good visuals (minus some 'god rays'), I watched many a movie in Bigscreen VR when I had one. AVP is a great piece of kit, no doubting that. The company has loads of experience with high-end mobile electronics and they can afford to use the best they have which results in a very stellar output. That said, it's overkill for what can already be achieved for a far lesser entry fee. Of course, competition is good to drive some innovation and lessen stagnation, so it's good the AVP exists so people can see what's in the high end but also appreciate what they can afford. Good to see that the Quest has great media consumption apps for all tastes.

No there is an app called 4xvr it supports otg means you can directly play movies from your pen drive and support iso files which are direct rip of 3d blurays no need to convert into FSBS or HSBS

DeoVR's been my video app of choice for many years over both of those other problems. Tried that one yet? Or if you have, have you tried it lately? They're always updating it.

I watch plex via the dlna but doing this i cannot watch this in a public room as a host.
