As someone who has the Turms, 2s38 and now the T-80UD, I would choose the UD every chance I get. It is awesome, better mobility than the turms, same round with a good reload and the ct5 armor is insanely good

As a russian main i wont buy it, 10.0 Russia suffers to much from teammates leaving after 1 life . Much rather put a talisman on my T-80U or BVM

10.0 russia is the most ridiculous line-up in the game at the moment... Youve got the Turms, t-72b, t-72b 1989, Obj 292, 2s38, bmp-2m, strela, 2s25, mi-24v, mi-24p, su-25k, and now the T-80UD.... i have never seen such BS

I own both TURMS and T-80UD and I have done a stat analysis on some of the KZreadrs. T-80UD performs way better than TURMS and on a short distance even outstats PzBtl123 and KVT. Although I would expect it to even out in the long run (100+ games). Overall it has 2 major upsides: I. 10.0 BR that allows it play in matches without 10.3 NATO competitors. This is where the tank shines because it can't be penned from upfront with a lazy 105mm shot - they have to hit you in the lower front plate, directly into the driver's triplex or gun breach. Any lazy shot that would've killed TURMS won't even pen the T-80UD. This is where you get all those crazy 5+ kills matches shown on YT videos. Make no mistake you can't do that freely in a 10.3 match because 3BM42 is not 3BM46(the one 11.3 T-80U has) and Leo's can tank it. II. Mobility - you can 1st pick T-80UD and try to rush positions along side 10.3 NATO tanks. Unlike TURMS it's never late and therefore has that option and isn't forced to play 2nd line or risk dying during a crossing. Also it can roam the map in the late game quite effectively being able to respond to the situation and play for victory. TURMS is too slow most of the time and on maps where thermals aren't that important is clearly worse in that stage unless you plan to camp instead of winning. Unfortunately most of the matches you will get are 10.3+ ones because of the sheer amount of 10.3 and 11.0 premiums in the match making. T-80UD can't be a bully there but it isn't obsolete like TURMS in most cases. I wouldn't say it's on par with PzBtl123/KVT but has its' upsides. So to answer the question: should you buy it? If you have 1.5+ K/D on a NATO tank then yes. If you are worse then lack of thermals will be a major issue and the only good matches you will have are 10.0 ones. Whatever you do don't buy the TURMS unless you plan to camp.

Still dumb that the T-80B is at 10.3 when it has a 7.1 reload like a T-72 but only has Kontakt1 and worse turret armor .

As someone with everything unlocked in Russia and most of these premiums, i have to say that the situation is not as bad as u think, Russia at 10.0 suffers the same way the US top tier is suffering right now from M1 clickbait 1 death leavers. Most russian players from my experience only have either the T-72AV turms or T-80UD and will leave after 1 life because they havent gotten anything else unlocked or refuse to use a backup. Whats the most op thing at this tier is a squadron of 2S38s, they're usually way more skilled and knowledegable at the game

I just had a game of 15 kills with Russian 10.3 and some persistant german main lv 70 would be insulting me for my op lineup. told him to a custom battle, pointed him where to shot (because he claimed u cant one tap a single Russian 10.0 with Leopard 2A4), he ended up saying "wow, its not as good as i thought" - took 1 hr of explaining

I own 2s38, 72AV, 292, kvt, and wolfpack. Playing 10.0/10.3 is just painful these days, and the situation will be even worse because Gaijin will definitely release more 11.0/11.3 premium vehicles in the future. Maybe I'd rather go back to 8.7 and play the T55AM if I want to grind the Russian tech tree.

Well, essentially this tank is probably more similar to the t-72b (1989) because they both have the same cannon, contact 5, similar mobility, similar armor protection and no thermals. The only real difference i see is that the t-80ud is slightly faster going forward and has the t-80 autoloader, so its a bit faster but also more likely to get bottle opened. It also has better zoom The turms is honestly more of a sniper since it has good optics and thermals but bad armor, so you are better off sniping shit that brawling. So basically when chosing between the turms, the t-80ud and the 2s38 you need to consider what playstyle you prefer. The turms is pretty decent at sniping in big open maps, the t-80u is the best at brawling and the 2s38 is pretty much a jack of all trades. It can engage almost every target in the match if done correctly, but obviously is more of a flanking vehicle.

Indeed...And for some reason players think it's a skill issue behind the TURMs getting penned when it's a T-72A nearly a full Br above the other T-72A's. Its upper Glacis gets penetrated by 105mm DM - 23 when fired from an elevated position. The Kontakt 1 is useless at the Br, it has the worst gun handling and is the Weakest 10.0 premium MBT. The T-80UD is a far more forgiving tank...2S38 needs no comments 😂

5:50 it uses the same transmission, but I believe the engine is from the t64 engine family rather than t72

The biggest issue with Russian armor is the army effect. Your team will never be "all ace tankers" or people that never get surprised and fire a snap shot at ERA because they had 0,2 seconds until the T tank fired back. The army effect means that being able to take a shot from noobs. Means more T tanks survive and get kills and in turn the few skilled enemies are outnumbered 3 to 1.

Turbine I hope other countries add multiple high BR premium tanks so you can roll out the grind when a sale hits

If the BMP2m didn't exist I would've gotten the 2s38 but I got this one instead But this is definitely not a beginner friendly tank If u overextend or don't stick with a teammate, ur dead in this thing But holding W and just tanking hits is a viable strategy, I just recommend tailing a light tank teammate so that if they unexpectedly blow up, u know u need to stop advancing

Cant really compare BMP2M to 2S38, 2S38 is on another tier because its soo easy to punish CAS jets or helis with its fragmentation proxi rounds plus its apfsds auto cannon eat most tank barrels in 1-2 shots . BMP2M is more on par with the BMD-4

The ammo rack is not even an issue it’s just fuel explosions and crew death

Your crew will actually survive a fuel explosion at full vitality+expert crew, as long as the shrapnel doesnt injure them also. Makes the T-series like 40% more survivable in my experience, too bad USSR 10.0 win rates are such trash, if you are good at the game you want to quit every match due to 99% of your team disintegrating in the first minute on NA servers at least.

I think he did the same for the 2s25m which was weird enough for me to notice 90% of the time the atgm is the best round for CQC which is the most common situation Big pen Big HE And all u have to do is kinda account for the tiny travel time I don't get why he skips them

@@Optimusprime56241 nope. 9M119 ATGM is pretty strong, u can snipe turret roofs and hatches and 1 shot tanks , u can even do this to turret rings and by chance u can also kill the driver in the hull and 1 shot the tank (its pretty ez to do this to abrams) but most people will see the atgm and just move, so unless u got insane tracking theres no point using it when u got APFSDS or HE with superior travel speed. only time ive find it useful is sniping helis who are in hover mode lol

If China gets Pakistani sub-tree then they can also get a T-80UD. This ver ingame right now is weak, no thermals and poor reverse compared to it turbine brother. But in the future we could see more upgraded vers.

Did you say Gassers put put the same power as diesels? Bc no.. they may have more hp but the torque is what a tank need and that's where diesels excel.. not only that but the diesel will be more efficient for what its worth when the avg in a few mpg anyways lol Also never understood why diesel cost more when it's a product of making gas

Tbf, since the 80U still uses gen 1 (which is crappier than eyeball mk1 in daylight scenario , assuming you wont touch night battles) i can say massive skill issue For reverse problem, again, skill issue as you put yourself in inescapable path, this thing supposed to be mid range brawler, having 10.0 and K5 is very good , remember that even the earlier 72B with K1 uptiered to 10.0 , same as the 1989 T-72 with K5

WarClock172 4km on the T-80ud compared to the 12km found on the T-80b,t-80u, t-80uk , t-80um2 and t-80bvm is a massive difference . It aint 20-30km like nato tanks but its enough to effectively bait shots, reposition etc. But ill agree on the thermals not being an issue since night mode is separate now

The only issue with this veichle are your teammate.

Because its the T-80U hull at 10.0 , T-80U has far better base armor than T-80BVM if we ignore the fact BVM has relikt era. But i agree with u , i aint buying this because of the terrible reverse speed and also because 10.0 has the most braindead players.
