Thank you. I found this on my own and been using the 400 HMA and decided i needed to actually look this up. I don't take a long until the HMA400 crosses below price action and curls up, and to wait for the HMA 400 to cross up through the bottom of price action to close a position is too late, I use a HMA20 instead. I just find that in the event of a reversal of descending price action it tends to reject and continues down when under the HMA400 and curling down. I just need more self-discipline to stay on higher time-frames

The Secret Mindset yes you are very right. I find those settings, especially the 7 period very confusing on the 15 min chart. It changes a lot from director (color) and gives falls enteries. I f you could share your opinion for, for example scalping or day trading. What would it be? Very kind regards

you can find customs indicators in the "public library" of tradingview, look for "Hull Suite" or "Hullma Strategy". both give colors depending of Hullma's direction.

Just started using the hull this week.... I don’t use it the way you do,nor do I use it the way you said most traders do..... I guess I made my own way, but I use it in conjunction with a 9,21,and 200 ema.... I know I know, it’s a lot of lines, but I use em to confirm strength (along with a macd). I’m a noobie by the way

You have to determine this yourself. I like 200 HMA, but depending on your style, you may prefer other period.

So how do we identify a trending market? The HMA alone doesn't do that for us.

How different is ham from Vwap?

With the HMA, as it uses square route, shouldn't using numbers outside of this as inputs have a negative effect? the 7 x 50 HMA is what I noticed. My understanding was that you should use 4,9,16, 25, or at least in this example 9 and 49. Does anybody know more about the technicals?

I use the 3 and 10 crossover and it works so well for scalping

The HMA in trading doesn't seem to change in colors

I didn't catch what the best settings are for a day trader who uses lower time frames.. 15min..30min..1hr.

Of course not, use the one that works for you.

Good video, but the second half regarding two Hulls is not correct. Instead of using two Hull MAs, pair the Hull with a 20SMA. Why do I say using two Hulls is incorrect? As you described the Hull eliminates most of the lag, basically they're too fast. If you want to use crossovers, you need a bit of lag. Because the Hull is faster than the 20, it can bend the 20 (either up or down) based on the speed and duration of its move. Because the 20 is slower than the Hull, it acts as a confirmation of the Hull's direction. Also, if you want to pair the Hull with the 20, try setting the default length of the Hull to 15. Where do I find that this helps? You have a stock that had a fairly long slide down, so how do you know when it's bottomed? The Hull will give the initial indication of a turn when the color changes and begins to curl up. However, by the time it crosses the slower-moving 20SMA, the trend has developed.

I disagree. I use the Hull 3 and 10 for scalping. It's like cheating! When the 3 crosses up on the 10 with ONE FULL CANDLE, I get long (as long as there's volume of course) and when that 3 crosses down past the 10 w ONE FULL CANDLE, I exit. I also do the same for shorting w obviously the opposite trend. Hope this helps. Test it out!

Many people adopt the EMA 200 to draw a trend "indicator" and consequently focus on either BUY or SELL based on the price location in relation to it( above or below it ). Would it be better or worse to use HMA 200 instead for such approach?

The 200 is way too far off to indicate a buy or sell signal. If youre going to use the 200 EMA then it must be used with the 50 and 21 and I like to add the 10 as well. However I have switched from the 3 or 4 line EMA I just mentioned to the Hull 3 and 10 for scalping. It's like cheating! When the 3 crosses up on the 10 with ONE FULL CANDLE, I get long (as long as there's volume of course) and when that 3 crosses down past the 10 w ONE FULL CANDLE, I exit. I also do the same for shorting w obviously the opposite trend. Hope this helps. Test it out!

200 HMA is way too large. I use the 20 HMA on the daily chart (I actually set my 20 HMA to only the daily time frame) as my trend filter for buys or sells a on the 4H. In a downtrend, ignore support zones, and in an uptrend, ignore resistance zones. I also use the Stochastic RSI to find the optimal entry points within a trend (enter on overbought in a downtrend, and enter on oversold in an uptrend).

RSI, if it's trending, you can set settings to 10, if it's swinging put settings on 4 to 7.this will give you a good filter, Hope this helps.

Back testing using the HMA50 and HMA 7, it seems to me that you can miss out on some large moves by following a strategy of not going against the HMA50 trend. Several times the 50 trend was up, the 7 hooked down and the price continured to drop. The hook serves as an excellent 'exit the trade' indication, but as a trade entry it can get you into too many losing trades. What sort of entry filter should I be looking for? I've experimented with MACD, ADX, Aroon and RGI. None of them seem to offer any protection against bad entries. Should I be looking to use a volume indicator-i.e. if the volume is not there then do not enter> I mainly use day charts, although I have seen in backtesting the HMAs work on shorter time frames, but the entry problem remains. Any suggestions to point me in the right direction?
