Just returend from spending 5 full days with my daughter on the Big Island and it is big. She was there to really see Volcanoes National Park and star gaxing from top of Mauna Kea. Made three trips around the island with different guides. All our excursions went really well. We stayed north of Kona and the weather almost always great on the west side. My favorites though were on the Hilo rainforest side seeing parts shown in this video. Great trip.

You missed the amazing Kehena black sand beach and the Pohoiki Hot spring ponds, both a short drive from Hilo. There is a lot to do in the Volcanoes park as well. No less than 2 weeks if you can afford that much time there!

If you go swimming at that spot it’s best to go on the rise of tide. The water is warmer and a lot cleaner. When the tide goes out the freshwater ponds behind that area drain out too which also puts bacteria in the ocean water.

$10.00 for a coconut!! Did I get that wrong? Was it 2 coconuts, or maybe 3? If it was for 1 coconuts, or even 2, you got taken big time. Hopefully, I got it wrong. I’ve recently (for the merry monarch festival & 7 days afterwards) spent 13 days on the Big Island. I know it can sometimes be expensive, but not to that extreme.
