You only had 3 of these when last I got on here so I have some catching up to do. But I have realized something about myself today that I wanted to share. I don't like the editing process, even though it is a necessary evil. I'd rather be WRITING! I've gotten myself stuck in limbo. I can't motivate to edit and I feel I cant move on to writing my next book. After this realization, I am gritting my teeth and getting through it. I want to feel free to move on to my next book!

Couldn’t agree more. You can learn to like editing a little more over time, but I agree-I’d rather be writing too!

I recently found Prowriting aid and love it more than Grammarly. I still have Grammarly for several months and thought I'd cancel it and stick with Prowriting aid. However, I'm editing currently and ran the same chapter through both and you're right, they both found different items to call to my attention! (Which then caused a lot of wasted internet searching to try and determine if one or the other editing software wasn't so great). My conclusion has been that I should keep both, at least for now, until I am feeling more confident with what I am doing. Having you say you use both helps me feel a little less "crazy" or "over-the-top"!

Hey Micheal, quick question, I'm taking an online course on how to improve my novel with story, character, setting, etc. My book is not entirely complete; should I pause the course, finish the entire first draft and then come back to the course? There are several self-help books I want to read and online classes I'm interested in taking to improve my writing and my novel. When do you suggest I incorporate these tools? I'm starting to read many books of the same genre I'm writing to help me grow as a writer. This is my first novel, and I'm striving to have all my thoughts as straightforward as possible.
