It's amazing how he never suffered any serious injuries essentially fighing the way he did, while so many of our stars today seem to have perpetual glass ankles and paper thin hamstrings just from making contested jumpshots.

I'm actually curious about that. We claim sports medicine is better but it seems players get injured way more now than the past. In the past the rules were more looser, physical and agressive in all sports compared today. Even in boxing. The refs will never let a fight like Arturo gatti vs Micky ward go as many rounds as it did in the day. But yet athletes are injured WAY more today than the past.
@megavolt67

@@BountyRogueCinemax I think that, connecting to what Josh Connor said, it might be because today's athletes are more focused on branding, social media, and enjoying their money (and they do make much more money than athletes of the past). Perhaps they don't train as hard or as consistently and so their bodies aren't as ready when they do compete.

Anyone who loves hockey should love Rodman. He's a hockey player in a basketball sized body. For those who don't watch, hockey is mostly a struggle for possession its back and forth until one team controls the puck long enough to run set plays or get a goal on a fastbreak so hockey players spend most of their time trying to get the puck. That is exactly how Rodman played basketball. He couldn't score very well but damned if that mattered at all he just wanted the ball whether it was a missed shot, a casual dribble, loose ball or shot block Rodman went for it every time. 6'7" and had back to back years with 18 rpg and 7 straight rebounding titles. Easily a top 5 defensive player of all time.

This is the kind of basketball that I love. Guys who hustle & play with heart! You don't need to always score to be a good player and to be valuable for your team. Knowing how to disrupt the defense and fight for every possession of the ball matters way more than most fans (and even many players) realize. And its something that doesn't always show up on the stat sheet so in some ways it almost feels like a lost art these days... Nobody did it better than Rodman in my opinion.
