@@mattv5281 I have no experience with this product, so I myself cannot recommend it, but many forums I've visited have had users suggest Orcon F, from Pro Clima. Looking at the product page, it seems to be a comparable product, but is not a straight rebrand the way Loctite and LePage are, so it's not exactly the same.

That ‘aisle of intimidation’ is SO real. This video upload is unbelievably ironic timing! I had my phone on my ladder in the hallway, listening to music through my phone as I’m working- I get a notification bell of an upload & I look at it, click on it. As I’m literally on my floor caulking finishing construction/baseboards, etc. (using Alex Plus, thank God) but I clicked on the video, waiting nervously hoping I didn’t just f-up...🤣 phew 👍 but I originally used your Amazon recommendations so I felt confident I was on the right path. Also: learned a lot along the way: one of THE BEST reference videos. Thanks a ton, Jeff. I’d be in a nightmare shack without this channel. I recommend you to literally everyone. My friend Kerry aka ‘The Nosy Hausfrau’ she has her own KZread channel & I just adore her - anyway we both bonded over our roofing woes, but she’s one of your newest fans/subscribers. 😊🙏☮️👩🏼‍🔧Thanks for everything! 👍

Hi @HomeRenoVisionDIY ! If I can just add something to your great video, LePage Quad Max is a non-solvent base sealant (polymere) that is built for outdoor AND indoor applications. I'm referring to minute 18 to 19 of your video. It should be written Exterior/Interior on the left of the tube, right next to where it states compatible materials.

As a professional painter I'd suggest a dripless caulking gun, the cradle type.yes that was one but you have to hit the thing at the end.. dripless guns stop automatically.. don't use the cutter if it has one, use a utility knife to get a good, clean 45 angle. especially applies when you're trying to do a bead, as he mentioned at the end,on an exterior project such as caulking siding.. if you're applying mastic adhesives it really doesn't matter then.. I love the idea of the removable nozzles.. the GE silicones you see in the big box stores don't have the removable nozzles anymore

I am glad to see training like that. Getting 6 tubes of the same caulk and getting used to one's preferred is necessary as the crap is frustrating! 😅 Just gluing old boards together to see how well different ones stick. I use 3 foot 2x4s on 3 foot 2x8s. Test them for grip after 48 hours in dark dry climate. Good practice and gives appreciation for adhesive properties. Everytime I can caulk at home it's midnight. I always have fun even though I can't see as well as I'd like! So far I like Lexel clear or white. It's a polymer rubber. I tried 5 to 7 other brands beforehand. This stuff stretches, goes on cold and damp. What's your favorite clear amd white brand? If the crack is big because of various reasons, I like to shove plummers puddy into the crack as a type of backer. Or the thick quality white electrical tape. Or even scrap foam. Depends on crack size.

most if not all of the lepage products can be purchased in the US but they are sold under the brand "loctite". Same parent company "Henkel" but sold under different names. Also, Loctite's single component canned spray foam "Titefoam" I have found to be superior to great stuff. It seems far more dense and stiff when cured. Unfortunately I don't think the titefoam can be used with that spray foam gun you love so much.

Good stuff! I've bought a few tubes of the stuff recently. In Australia, Selley's is the go-to brand. There's about 10 variants of Selleys Liquid nails and 10 variants of 3-in-1 gap filler. 9:20 What a master. Next try juggling some tubes. 9:35 I missed what you did to stop the tube from leaking. I had a big problem with the stuff just oozing out when i put the gun down. I thought my gun was the issue.

It may be a bit niche but Vulkem 116 deserves a mention for being the best dang waterproofing exterior caulking I've ever come across. Messy as hell though. Maybe more of an RV thing though, where the demands of flexibility and durability are far greater. Anyway, loved the video!

  • @davidscbirdsall

Vulkem 116 wasn't mentioned in this video is because polyurethane doesn't last very long outdoors or in extreme conditions. More importantly, polyurethane becomes very brittle in the cold where Jeff Thorman and Home Renovations film. Silicone remains pliable, mold resistant, and UV resistant in temperature extremes both in the cold of Canada and in the heat here in the southern US. Otherwise, polyurethane is much cheaper, dries hard, and is great for sealing wood, masonry, and vinyl as well as adhering them to each other. Polyurethane is also a natural organic compound while silicone is a synthetic inorganic polymer.

hey, heard of siliconized acrylic caulk ? im thinking of using it to seal up areas around the kitchen cabinets and the corners of the bathroom tiles, its black. so i was going to use to act as teh sealant for the ccorners and a stark accent . its paintable. it says indoor outdoor , water clean up. siding trim doors, windows, 5 bucks a tube.
