The Ultimate Bowhunting Challenge- African Elephant with Bow & Arrow

Ойын-сауық

The African bull elephant is the 2nd largest mammal on the planet. Only the whale is larger. This video will likely stir emotions in many.. yet like all animals, Elephants must be managed. I did my hunt in 2007, a PAC hunt. PAC is Problem Animal Control, and in my instance, I was granted a permit to hunt an area when elephants were raiding crops and terrorizing villagers. You must understand that in Africa, one elephant can destroy all the gardens in a village in one night. This elephant had been raiding a banana plantation- pulling out the trees with his trunk and eating like a stalk of celery.
An adult elephant can eat 300 pounds of vegetation a day. As human populations in Africa expand, more wild habitat is lost to farming and more interactions between locals and elephants end in tragedy. It's a story not talked about. I was blessed to get to hunt a PAC elephant with a bow as most damage elephant are shot in the head with a high powered rifle.
This elephant was aged to be over 50 years old. I used a 100# Mathews Black MaX bow (set at 94#) and 1200 grain arrows with 180 grain German Kinetics broad heads. The bull was slightly quartered in on the shot, but the arrow placement was perfect. All of the meat, hide and tusk were utilized. I kept nothing from the hunt. The villagers kept the entire animal. I had a reproduction mount made to display the elephant in my game room. This video is longer than most of my vids- but the story is interesting and needs told. It's worth the watch....
If you don't agree with elephant hunting.. fine. Just click away from my bowhunting page. My page is about ethical, responsible bowhunting and conservation.

Absolutely love these older videos. TM did this with rather dated equipment too. I watched many of his hunts and that guy can flat out shoot under pressure like no one I know. At distance no less. He must have some trophy room too.

People are arguing on other videos that Humans can't kill a Elephant, not with a 9mm or something around that. But what they forget is that a hunter knows where to hit a animal, and even a Spear/Bow or Poisoned Dart is already enough to bring down a big animal for a Human. Some may argue but the average Human won't be able to do that, right but even when we had no firearms 6000 years ago everyone was a hunter and not just Some people in our society, so knowing how to bring such a animal down, with which tools and where to hit it was common knowledge. Just regarding that "Humans will always loose a fight against a Elephant/Grizzly/Whatever". If the Human has the plan to kill it, he will kill it, different when he has no plan to kill it and did not expect this animal to show up, but this is also debatable becaues if you live in territory where those animals exist everyone and their grandma will have constant weapons/plans for the case they get charged by such a creature.

@@TamNguyen-sz8tz It seems you haven't heard of nature. Animals kill other animals, do they not? These people manage elephant populations and they will gradually increase, but while making sure their numbers stay within the carrying capacity of the environment. A really old bull does not contribute to his herd as well, and allowing a new, younger one to take over can help herd genetics. Lastly, what part of 8:52 didn't you see?

THey're over populated. Just because they're endangered, doesnt mean they're endangered in every country. Also it helps to lower the black market demand on ivory, fund wild life preservations, and probably taste pretty good with bbq sauce.
