*it sounds like someone may have a favorite bike!* The best thing about this video is that you've been test riding so many other bikes, and while you obviously dig a lot of them, you still love this bike. That means it's special! Your culmination of the review videos should possibly be you giving this bike a ring.

I am late to the game and have only ridden since about 1984. But my current R1200GS remains my favorite. It's getting a bit long in the tooth and I am thinking of upgrading but I can't get excited about anything else. So I've kept my 1200 and will probably hold on to it till I move. My review - it doesn't do anything exceptionally well, but it does everything well enough. Case in point, I took a trip up recently that took me into the twisties and into the mountains. The bike was great on the highway cruising to get there, but not as comfy as some cruisers or touring bikes. In the twisties is was a lot of fun and pulled up those hills and curves with gusto. But not a good a sport bike or Sport Touring bike. I took a wrong turn and ended up on a dirt/gravel road. At first it wasn't too bad, I kept going thinking it'll end soon. It didn't, and it got steeper and the rocks got to be baseball size, with deep ruts. I was in trouble but the bike wasn't. I may have doubted my off-road skills but the BMW chugged up that hill no sweat. Not as good as a dual-sport, but good enough to get me to the top without dumping it or getting stuck. I am sold for life.

I bought a 2023 GS Trophy. Not one moment's worth of "buyer's remorse". The "tele-lever" front suspension is a game changer. All U.S. models come with the "premium" package and the 7 ride modes.

Fantastic Video and you perfectly describes the GS. I had several race bikes and been on the track, so I enjoy the adrenaline rush of fast bikes. I decided to give the GS a try and purchased a used 2015 r 1200 GS just like the one MotoJitsu purchased. My wife and I did a weekend ride, and we were on and off the bike for 9 hours. I was blown away how much fun we had. I purchased the bike used because I was not sure I was going to like it. I sold the 2015 GS after 3 months and purchased a new 2022 R1250GS 40th Anniversary. AMAZING BIKE!!!!!

I did a test ride with one recently, and I can agree, it is in fact a very enjoyable motorcycle. But since I never ever ride off-road I was more then happy to get back on my R1200RT because I personally prefer the better wind protection and comfortable quiet bubble it offers.

I must concur with the statement, I own the R1250GS exclusive and it is amazing. I have been looking at smaller bikes because it’s a heavy bike and I’m not getting any younger. I must say all the smaller Adventure bikes I have tried are so top heavy that I almost dropped 2 of them. That’s one thing you didn’t mention is the low down centre of gravity and superb balance of the GS. It makes it easier to handle at low speeds than smaller other bikes I have owned. I.E Ducati Multistrada 950S and the Kawasaki Versys. I also found out that no other smaller bike has all the features of the GS. Best bike I have owned by a mile

I have a '22 R1250GSA and I am ruined for other bikes. I test rode a Tiger 1200 & a Scrambler 1200xe at a recent demo day. They are nice bikes, really loved being a bit of a hooligan on the Scrambler in fact. But my GS is still my favorite place to be when I'm on the road. It just does anything ridiculously well. My first bike was a Honda CB350 40 years ago, nothing I've owned or ridden since is as good as a GS. Get training, the bike is so much more capable than the average rider it's silly. I have *never* regretted the money spent on improving my skills.

All of the bells & whistles you mentioned are on my 2015 1200gs TE which is why every time I consider changing it (because I’m now 72yo and it’s a bit heavy for the minute or two manoeuvring it in & out of my garage) I think what the hell am I going to swap it for apart from a newer version of the GS, I should be riding something lighter and slower but it’s just so addictive, love it.

I have owned a BMW F750 GS for the last 4+ years and love it. I would love to trade up to the 1250 but not sure how well it would filter through the insane traffic here in Melbourne Au. The 750 is so much more nimble and slimmer than the 1250, I may have to test one out in traffic first. The shaft drive is a big + for me, chains are a pain in the proverbial… Great review though Greg.

I find it a little boring haha ! I am use to a small displacement motor which have all analog. No fancy electronics. Don’t get me wrong all the stuffs on the 1250 are amazing. I just prefer riding old with no tech with a funky gasoline smell and lots of vibrations. More power to you.

I’ve owned a lot of different bikes over the years, from standards to sport bikes to cruisers and currently have 5 bikes in the garage. Along the way I’ve had 3 GSs (two boxers & one of the early 650 thumpers). My current 2012 GSA I’ve had since new & while it’s not the fastest bike in the stable nor the most classically beautiful, when I’m unsure of what kind of ride I want, it’s what I pick. It’s the bike I discover new roads on (both paved and dirt), since I never have to worry I’ll end up somewhere the bike shouldn’t be. It can tour, it’s fun in the twisties & it doesn’t mind being covered in mud. I will always have a GS in the garage, it is the do anything, go anywhere bike. If I had to pare down my fleet to a single bike… it’d be the GSA. It is the ultimate “only” bike.

But I am very happy with them...so it's fine 😄 The GS is the jack of all trades, down side would be weight and cost. If you can accept that you will not regret it.

Thanks for your great videos 😃👍. I see you recently did a test of the R1250R, 2023 model I think, and you really liked that. I'm looking at getting a low chassis GS as I'm 5' 7" tall or maybe an R1250R to include long distance work, but can't make up my mind. Road riding is my prime interest, although who knows, if I got a GS? I want to test ride them back to back when the dealer has both in stock, but I'm wondering what your thoughts are regarding each of those models and any pros and cons or noticeable differences with regard to the other, that you might draw my attention to. They both seem amazing and I've had a 2007 GS and a BMW Rockster back in the day, so I've had a bit of a taste, even though both have moved on a lot in that time! I'm wondering what you think. Any thoughts would be most welcome. 😃👍🤗

I own three motorcycles: R1250 GS, S 1000 R, & the KTM 500 Exc-F. These three cover all the bases. If I could only have one it would be the R1250GS. Best all rounder!

Curious if you feel like the lack of front-end loading while braking reduces your trail-braking feel and/or effectiveness?

I enjoyed the video very much. It obvious you love your bike. Which is very important. I love all motorcycles and I am currently looking for a classic to add to the garage. I rode in high school, dirt bikes , then street bikes , then marriage and kids. About 4 years ago I wanted get back into motorcycles. I bought an adventure bike and couldn’t believe the difference. I had that bike for two years. The bike will remain unnamed because I never crack on another man’s ride. Just me. There were several things I couldn’t live with so I started looking for another bike. Dealerships are a major concern for me. How far are they away? Do you get along with the folks there? Is the service department good? Luckily a BMW dealership is about 15 minutes away. I traded for a ‘22 GS. The dealership is awesome. The drawbacks to the GS are small. They are expensive, no doubt. And that’s about it. Everything else is perfect , for me. It always puts a smile on my face. Zero engine heat. And all the things you mentioned. They also hold their value incredibly well. Best!

Best. Bike. Ever. I love mine. Yes, it handles great but the heated grips, heated seat and cruise control make it a dream, dream machine.

My GSA is the best bike I have owned. By far! Still have my ninja 1k for all out fun and wee blasts. But even then the GS is still close to it in terms of how much fun it is in the twisties.... Which is insane for what is a big rhino of a thing.

Rebound damping must be improved, along with the quickshifter. More damper settings is also needed, not just Road and Dynamic. Earlier models had 3 different settings, i found that to be better. My Multi V4 has 5 different settings, with the front and rear adjustable separately. Also, in addition to the min / max / auto setting, preload can be set to 24 different settings. Bmw must step it up for the next GS. And yes, i've had 5 of them, so i know where i'm coming from. 🙂

My 21st bike and it is insane. Expensive but completely worth it. 12K miles in 8 months on my ‘22 if that tells you anything. And PS - you’re never in a traffic jam on a GS 😂

How do you. think adaptive cruise control will work on a motorcycle. Love it in a car. So the dilemma is: to buy GS now or to wait for a TracerGT+ or 1300 that may have it next year
