The ULTIMATE Bike Van Conversion?

This VW T6 van conversion is pretty unique. Alan Murchison AKA The Performance Chef gives us a van tour on his new Transporter. He's gone to some pretty extensive lengths to make the ultimate cycle van. As well as being able to make the best coffee in town, he can also keep his bikes secure in the back. This surely is the ultimate bike van conversion!

Alan is a Michelin starred chef with over 25 years of experience in Michelin starred kitchens and has worked in some of the best in the UK. Alan held a Michelin star for over a decade & had 4 AA Rosettes whist executive Chef at L'Ortolan restaurant in Berkshire.
At one point Alan was the first chef outside London to have 3 restaurants all with Michelin star recognition. He spent 5 years working with Raymond Blanc at the world famous Le Manoir aux Quat Saisons and was also Director of The Raymond Blanc Cookery School.
life long endurance athlete and fan, starting life as an international runner and skier, before locking himself up in a kitchen for 25 years. Once he had achieved culinary success he turned his attention back to sport, initially for health and lifestyle reasons before his competitive nature took hold and he trained for performance. As a masters athlete, Alan has won multiple European and World titles in duathlon, represented Scotland in cross country running and earned national cycling time trial titles.

Ultimate bike van conversion? Posers van with a coffee machine more like, the only thing ultimate that springs to mind is an ultimate waste of money I’m afraid
Nah this is on another level. I would just drink coffee all day and not get the bikes dirty, on my drive!

The sink/stove for me is the best feature. You don't always get as much form and function combined like that.

Thanks Alan for the ideas. Instead of a van, I would like to use these ideas for a compact corner of my flat for the bikes I have.

When the coffee machine takes 1/3 of the van you know it is a proper cyclist's van.

I see all these transporters costing mega money i look at them and think they arent in the same league as an autotrail 68 for cost and value. that vw transporter in the video looks nice, but ultimate? i wouldnt step over an autotrail 68 expedition for it

They're nice, it's too big for a lot of the UK though,, there's a lot of lanes in the Lakes or Cornwall for example that a Transporter just about fits down.

Nice van but the coffee machine is a waste I think. Takes up to much room and who really is gonna use the hydraulic lift all the time. So much space wasted in my opinion

I am going to be criticized for this and it's ok, I can take that. For some reason I find people wearing Rapha clothing to be a bit like people driving BMW. And I've seen this so many times! People who can easily afford it, so they buy every single bit of kit head to toe and are proper vegans(dicks) about it. And people who really can't afford it, but want to look like they can, so they save money, take loans - just to get that badge. Both BMW and Rapha make high quality products. But the people who buy them? And watching Alan Murchison with his coffee machine makes me think that he is a perfect example of a BMW Rapha kind of person :)

Fancy posers van. It’s no way near the ultimate van. I have a Sprinter van that you can stand up in with way more room than that tiny cramped over expensive piece of bling.
