I bought this 42 inch antenna after watching this video for my UV5R. It works great! I hooked up a 25 foot SMA male to female cable outside and can now reach repeaters 75km (45 miles) away.

The ABBREE Antenna. I have two, the 18.8 version and the 42.2 version. Both are very useful antenna's. I never attach the 42.2 inch one onto my radio. Put too much stress on the SAM connector on the radio. I attach the antenna, to my pack. Then run a short cable from the antenna to the radio. Works great.

I first did a research on this tactical antennas and found out with another uploader who did a test on them and showed that the 72cm variant showed the same results as the longest one. So I bought the 72cm Abbree and I'm happy with it. Using my vintage Icom IC-02AT, at around 200ft above sea level, I made a contact 75km away on simplex running 4 watts. It's a great antenna especially for emergency situations.
