It is the most flickable and versatile piece of engineering I have ever owned, finesse and beauty with a reserve for those unbelievable moments.

I love mine. Bought an Arrow exhaust, and that was such an improvement. Looks and sounds great. Everytime I ride it I'm happy. What every bike should do.

I’ve got the 2021 model, don’t think there is much difference. I’ve done over 16.000 miles in about 18 months and I’ve had no issues with it. Absolutely love my bike and it does everything I ask of it From pottering down the road , mile crunching on motorways, ripping up the twisties and touring abroad. I’ve no intentions of changing her for quite some time.

I've had mine for just a couple of weeks. Had the GSA in the past. Both great bikes. KTM very easy to ride, great power, quick shifter is excellent even at low speeds and in low gears. I agree with some comments about the headlight but other than that I think it's a great looking bike. Will change exhaust when I can afford it but purely for looks and sound. Tyres seem ok to me and not sure just how much difference a premium set will make. Overall, a cracking bike that ticks the majority of the boxes. Really glad I bought it.

Well put such a cracking bike and to be honest it was tough to give it back, if I go back to an adv bike this will be my first stop

So... i have owned both the GSA and the Adventure s, both great bikes for very different reasons and we alm have different requirements from a bike. What i would say from my experience is that if anything goes wrong with the Adventure s ,KTM won't want to know you, i found that once they have had your money ,thats it.

Is always fun trying new bikes 🙂 The radar cruise control is something I really like the idea of, am already a fan of conventional cruise control on bikes. You get used to using the rear brake feel and position when standing, but it can feel weied, especially if in road boots.

The radar cruise is such a great feature which I would have thought to be a gimmick, but actually I can see how it could become a great tool for long hauls. Because I hadn't tried other adv bikes other than the gs I owned I wasn't sure about the rear brake feel and if it would be the same on other bikes

put it in rally mode, traction control off, abs off and let it rip, you will be pulling wheelies up to 4th girl. and yes, better tira make a huge difference.

If you like the seat height, get it. I'm not an adventure style rider, more the touring style. Currently a Honda CTX1300 and I pull a trailer. The 1290's power would be nice for pulling a trailer and taking some of those dirt roads I can't do on my CTX, but I'm not a fan of the high seat.

If I'm being honest with myself I'm not the biggest adventure fan but I would put my self more toward sport tourers But no doubt this is an incredible machine well worth trying one

Good man, sounds like you liked it. That little hatch is for your keys and not your phone from what I understand. I think the exhaust changes the whole experience for me. I think it ticks the all rounder box quite well, you can tour on it but also take it for a more spirited ride

I test rode one, Loved it Thrilling and comfortable. However I could not look back at it and think "You beauty" I know that styling and looks are subjective but there is a reason not many (over 25s) go for an Orange Motor Vehicle.

Yeah it really is lacking the beauty but the performance I found outweighed the ugly duckling features 😆

I put a 20mm lowering base plate in the bottom of the spring off eBay ..used a press mechine , lowers the front in the triple as well 20mm ... perfect now for a 5,9 guy short leg .. I normally ride with the settings in luggage for the perfect setting now and now on the balls of my feet ... as apose to tippy toes with the comfort seat

Great Video, Thanks for taking us along for the Ride. The KTM 1290 looks impressive. Seems like it really Accelerated nicely also. The only thing that bothers me is the looks. I’m not really crazy about the front Headlight, and the kinda Boxy Body Panels.

It's not a looker is it really? But I suppose the way it performs trumps the aesthetics..... bit of an ugly duckling

1st gear is only to move from stand still. Never go down to 1 while the bike is moving.

im 27, currently have a 2019 GSA, i agree they are a boring bike. Comfort is it's game. once my 1 year ownership comes up in July. I will sell it and then pcp a new bike rather than through 12k cash into a bike like the GSA. only thing that worries with KTM, is the horror reliability you hear.

I think I'm always in two minds when I say the GS range is boring, because it does everything so well and I'm sure that's why I feel it is And as for the KTMs reliability I have unfortunately been bitten by just that very recent which i discuss in my latest video but boring is not a word I would use to describe a ktm

I have heard a lot about KTM reliability and hope I don't get any problems. What you don't hear so much about is the electric problems on the BMW. On 2 separate group tours around Europe I've been on there was a GSA that died due to an electrical fault and had to be recovered back to the UK. Plus the cost of BMW servicing which from my experience has felt a lot higher than other brands. I suppose you pay your money and take your chance. Love the 2023 1290 SAS but the BMW is a great bike.

@cornishrider576 I paid £800 for the service pack which covers 3 services. After riding yesterday, for what I use the big bike for, which is a ouple of tours each year and running it all round to commute, I'll be getting a Suzuki 1050XT. For the 2020 they're around 7.5k, that around 3k less than the 1200GSA.
