With Christmas nearly upon us, the UK has just released another incredible Snowman 50p coin. So I thought I'd head down to Brighton to discover some of the landmarks from the story and build a snowman of my own...

I’ve never read The Snowman, but I’m now determined to buy it and read it! I’m also fascinated by how many fun coin designs you have in the UK!
My family has a tradition of watching The Muppet Christmas Carol every year. (mainly because I find the grown-up version too scary, even today!) It's a nice way to remember the story that essentially brought back Christmas. The Snowman is one of my all-time favourite Christmas movies (and books); I'm glad we both share the same view.

Aw... I love the snowman book! One of my fond memories of it was the irn bru commercial. As an american, I am really sad that I can’t buy irn bru at any store near me, so watching the commercial not only rings in the Christmas spirit but reminds me of my time in Scotland!

The instant I see Chris uploads I get so happy, this channel just radiates so much happiness to me. The postcard he sent to me aswell made me so happy, This man has so much talent and makes such great videos. If you're not subscribed, please do. You won't regret it.
Ok, I'm not even a coin collector, but I love the fact that not only is Change Checker a fabulous mobile database, but that they even have the options to add things to your collection, so you know what you have. As a collector of several other things--action figures, comic books, serial novels, CDs and DVDS--I can tell you that having that kind of list really helps to reduce the possibility of redundancies. So it's awesome that there is an app that specializes in what you collect, Chris, and helps to keep your collection organized. I wish there were more apps like that one to help other collectors.
Snowed on Christmas? Lucky, I've never experienced a White Christmas and I'm in NY. Olaf and Frosty are great snowmen
The snowman book was my faveorite childhood book. Just got it out of my bookshelf and remembered it because of this video. Thank you sooo much!
The snowman means family, warmth and chocolate oranges. Now that I live outside uk it makes me super nostalgic. Loving your videos.
I do love the way you put a positive, interesting spin on numismatics. Videos like this are the kind to get people looking at their change and talking about coin designs! (And hopefully getting new people interested in the hobby!) Cheers from Canada.
Was in brighton just last week with my mom, for a ska-punk show, I fell in love with the town. But I had no idea the snowman was set in brighton. I'm from sweden, where I've only ever seen it be shown on tv once or twice, but I still really remember it from being a kid.
The snowman you made was very beautiful at the end :)
In Quebec, each family has different traditions, but one of my favourite is the famili dinner before opening gifts, it teaches patience to the kids who eats fast
Thank you Half-Melted Snowman for this coin review!
The Raymond Briggs stories are so likeable. My favourite is grumpy Father Christmas and When the Wind Blows. I've heard about The Snowman but never read it. Time to do that now. ;)
Reggie ❤️ I grew up in the snow belt. We would play outside for hours on end. To this day I do not understand how we did it??? I’ve built so many snow men, ate so much snow, had so many ice sickle sword fights. Too many to count too much fun to remember. But the best year was the blizzard of 1978 I believe it was. Are yard was enclosed by a 4 foot high stockade fence in the back. The snow was higher than that fence. We dug a entire city of caverns all throughout the back yard. It lasted for months!!!!! Unforgettable.
If you like the animation style of a the Snowman, then there’s a film called When The Wind Blows which is made by the same people, but I have to warn you, it’s very sad. :)

Is this the film about the elderly couple in preparing for nuclear war?
I love that cartoon! I remember it from when I was little, they showed it on PBS here in the US. 😄 So beautiful! It's cool that they made it a coin. Also, great video. Subscribed.
The snowman is seriously one of my favorite Christmas books, and Brighton is also my favorite city in the entire uk! I absolutely love this video and I think it really shows what it means living in the uk
our biggest tradition is bundling into my parents room with my siblings, sitting on their bed and opening up our stockings while in our pjs. its not much but it warms my heart everytime i think about it.
I remember reading The Snowmen when I was little, possibly in Reception or Grade 1 or maybe Grade 2 or 3? I´m not sure, but it was a long time ago. I love that story
That snowman looks as wholesome as Chris is!

I remember watching the snowman on vhs while visiting family in rural Canada during the Christmas holidays! Growing up in Toronto we didn’t get much snow (I even have a picture of my sister and I with our snowman which is was very small and very discoloured with dirt 😭) I would always be amazed by the amount of snow the countryside could get and see my grandfather rev up his snow plow ahaha Chris your videos are always so genuine and heartfelt (especially seeing lil Reggie at the halfway point) Happy (early) Holidays!!!
Fatastic Video!!! Absolutely love the snowman and a Christmas Carol two of my favorite novels to read over the festive season. 🎅🏻🎄

When I was in elementary, grammar school we used to have Book Fairs; Scholastic Book Fairs to be more accurate. I remember my teacher wanting us to be able to watch the movie. Then, like now, school teachers were living off buttons, and candy wrappers. So I remember asking my gran for the money for the movie. I got it, and I let my teacher know she could borrow it to use in class. She was really gobsmacked that I did that. I'll always have the memory of that simple childhood time, and the movie.
It snowed early this fall everywhere except for my home in Seattle
One of my Christmas traditions is that we watch elf every year just because it’s a funny film

I just went to Brighton last October.....so many memories
I’ve only seen the film version last year and I have to say I’ll be watching it again this Christmas.
I’ve been watching for about 2 months, and that snowman convinced me to subscribe
I love Brighton so much, it makes me so happy to see it featured in one of your amazing videos!
The Royal Pavilion, I live at the seaside (france) and there is something quite special about the beach in winter. Oh yes that's it, it's cold ha ha. Smashing video as usual, well done Chris.
4:53 the tapia is in the coin area
The snowman has my favorite Christmas movie and book as a kid
Thank you very much for these wonderful images of Brighton: it brought me back to my joyous two-months stay, back in '98. And speaking of joyous, thanks for the hilarity caused by your hoping at 6:00!!! Warm hugs from the snowy Province or Québec, Canada!
Man, I've always wanted to do that for Christmas. Sadness of living in Houston, TX, Abu Dhabi, UAE! And Calcutta, India. We once got snow in 7 years time (Houston) , but there was a spelling bee that day, and when it was done, all the snow had melted. I hope I get to do that some day or the other, but anyways, Merry Christmas, and Happy Thanksgiving!
Oh my God! I absolutely loved the book, totally forgot about it. Thanks for creating this video
While on the search for a snowman coin you wore a snowman sweater. Such a great creature.
ah that is so sweet
My favourite animated film. Every note of music is magical too :)
I hope Ralph and Tom Hanks have a great Christmas!!!
I have personally sung the song 'walking in the air' from the snowman approximately 50 times in the numerous choirs I have been in
Wow thanks for making this video. I never would have guessed that the building was in brighton. I always thought it was suppose to be india. That the snowman was flying around the world.
Its snowing where i live 🙂❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️🌨🌨
back when I lived with my parents, we had a tradition of setting up a live Christmas tree. A Church service as well, of course
Where I live, they sow Snowman and the sequel on Christmas (eve) morning and it's must see every year.
my family and i would always watch this short movie before we go to christmas sauna :)
China has a Christmas tradition as well, although you might not expect there to be one. Everyone will eat apples on Christmas Eve. In Chinese, Christmas Eve is called 平安夜(ping an ye) or “night of peace”. Apple is called 苹果(ping guo), and if you add 安 (an) into the word Apple, it sounds like it is called “fruit of peace” 平安果. It is a modern tradition but the reason behind it is just like reasonings to allo the classic Chinese traditions from hundreds of years ago.
wow UK makes alot of new 50p coins its like they want you to collect coins,it would be fun...
Chris: "When I was 2, it was snowing(…)" Me: Aw come on, I haven't saw snow since I was born.

In Christmas, my family drinks a beverage called " Ponche de Frutas" which is a Mexican drink made from black tea, fruits like apple, jicama, tangerine, and tejocote, and it's sweetened with piloncillo (or at least that's how my family makes it) and all the family gathers on the house of one of my uncles so we can spend time together.
We sang " walking in the air" from the snowman movie at my skool concert

My brother was in a snow man musical when he was 10 or 11 and after the play we had ice cream and went into a gift shop to see . . . . . a snow man cup! that was also around the time i found two one penny coins from 1937 that i traded for a bag of like 100 quarters at school, i was amazed at the currency americans use (im australian btw) i eventually traded the quarters for about 1000 rupee!
