You are correct, it is a turnover not a Johnny Blocker. A Johnny Blocker the tip is down on the left shoulder.

Are you rolling your wrist in your delivery?

The break over action comes from the contrast between the swing and the release in the delivery. The swing is vertical, and the release snaps down which makes the bottom string kick over and complete the loop. Using some wrist action will help you, and too much of that will make the loop turn over too fast. I’m short, there needs to be some wrist action but with lots of practice, you’ll find the sweet spot between too much and not enough.
