New monochrome BB41 for the win! The would-be sleeper instantly became the standout for most Tudor fans (including myself 👌).

Now that they have made this movement, I really want Tudor to make a Pelagos 39 GMT with a 60 minute dive bezel

The bb58 GMT is looking really good but like you the intensity of the gilt bezel is off putting im really hoping that it'll be on the lighter side in most lights. The bb41 monochrome is refreshingly the opposite!

It all comes down to how it looks in person and im crossing my fingers so intensely lol! The gilt intensity is worrying me a bit so I can't wait to see it in the wrist. And I can't waiting to see the monochrome BB41 as well so the competition between it and the BB58 GMT is heading up

I miss the snowflake second hand. Tudor did away with it since the BB54 came out. I wish they’d just offer a bunch of colours (blue, black, green, red/black, grey etc.) in each of the black bay sizes (37mm, 39mm and 41mm).

A great objective review of the new releases TWI. To be honest I'd almost given up on a new thinner GMT movement given the development costs of a new movement and that they released the opaline dial GMT last year. But I'm more than happy to admit that I was wrong in my thoughts. The BB58 GMT certainly does not talk to me (it has started whispering though) as I've not seen one. I would love to see this movement in a Pelagos though. The new BB41 monochrome certainly looks great but I'll wait until I see one in the flesh ideally against my Pelagos 39 (I just love the dial) that is one of my many go to watches when I get to prize a Casio off my wrist when at work. Many thanks for sharing.

You hit the nail right on the head. You and I both thought that Tudor would come up with a thinner GMT movement much sooner. Wow, it took awhile, right? But now it's here! So why did Tudor not give us a 12.8 mm thickness 39 mm Black Bay GMT Pro, and why not give us a second colorway option at this release date? I wouldn't buy the 39mm BB Pro at this point in time. No way! I'm happy with the color scheme that they gave us with this new BB 58 GMT but others may not be that excited about it. I get it. And yes this new MESA certified Monochrome Black Bay from Tudor is is by far the sleeper buy of Watches and Wonders!

I recently picked up a San Martin SN0116 GMT with an NH34 and a thickness of 12.2mm, still pulling 100m WR. I know it's a caller, but this movement doesn't have a reputation for being particularly thin. What am I missing here? How are SM doing this and meanwhile everyone's hailing the BB58 GMT thickness as the second coming? I have watches that exceed $10k but this San Martin has really blown me away and rocked my world, so to speak. The dimensions are perfect and the thinness alone, given it's a GMT, gives it a genuinely luxurious profile. I'm not off expensive watches, but it's 100% made me reconsider certain purchases and kind of given me a new bar for what I expect at the price. Nomos, for example, is totally on my radar. Movement aside, basically everything about this SN0116 holds up or exceeds when I compare it to my more expensive divers/GMTs. It's getting tougher to commit to brand heritage alone when options like this exist.

I am excited for these! To be honest, I didn't think they would do a 58 GMT so soon (the previous movement isn't that old).

Yeah they've done well with these releases! And yeah it hasn't been very long all things considered since the original GMT movement but I think they must have really felt the pressure to make a thinner GMT from low sales of the BB41 GMT, their customers in general, and from the competition. I'm excited to see it in person and im excited to see what else they do with this fantastic movement!

Have gou noticed the lume plots on thE BB58 GMT are smaller when compared to the normal version. It gives the dial a little more breathing space while giving it more of a 4/5 digit reference feel. I approve and hope it comes to the standard 58 line up. The perfect watch would be the new black 41 but in the 39mm size, the dial layout of the BB 58 GMT and then lose the faux rivets 👌

I tried the bb41 on at my AD Today and it wears like a dream.. it’s the Tudor sub I’ve been waiting for and the 5 link bracelet is so well made with the t fit clasp too.. I know have to decide wether I stick with my OG black pelagos or it makes way for the bb41 black with metas certification…

I'm waiting for future BB58 based GMT models with more appealing colors and bracelet options. And, whatever they've been doing to update the BB 41mm to trickle down to the BB58 line as well. I guess next year, maybe. The new Tudor BB58 GMT is a step in right direction. But, it really should have been what they started with at the very beginning. So, this is more a course correction than an exciting improvement, for me. It's finally where it should have been long ago... At least in the case thickness. I would like Tudor to bring back a revised BB Steel .. and add it to the BB58 line up with all the expected improvements and bracelet options.

Now a bb54 gmt will be a instant buy

That would be fantastic hopefully they do that to make the most use of the movement. That and an updated BB Pro, which at this point should be a guarantee

Hope they update the Pro into a slimmer case. Also not sure how I feel about the gilt on the BB58 GMT. Not particularly keen on it for now.

I have my reservations about it as well. After seeing some videos of people actually holding it, I think it looks better than the press photos but I’m going to wait until I actually see it on my wrist at an AD.

Yeah the BB pro in a thinner case would be killer! Yeah the gilt is worrying me and actually for the first time the got in the press photos and tenders look lighter and better than the real life photos which I wasn't expecting lol. Tissue usually had awful press photos and renders lol. Fingers crossed that it's ok on the wrist but in the meantime the BB41 monochrome is continuing to tempt me intensely

I wish they made the coke bezel in the regular size with the new movement. Total miss for me. I’m tired of small size watches. Also can we just be done with faux rivet bracelets.

I love it and can’t wait to get one.

There can never be too many GMTs!!

I really like the Coke 58 GMT. The monochrome 41 seems to be a lower-entry cost (but also much lower retained value) alternative to a 124060, but I much prefer the 58 and 54 cases to the 41. If Tudor puts the monochrome BB into a 58 or 54 case, it's game over!

The lugs look awful fat on the BB41, much like the Rolex Maxi-Case Subs. Yuck.

I love the monochrome! It's the watch I'm gonna try to get for sure, I don't care what strap I get as long as I can get one! Some folks hate the aluminum bezel, it doesn't bother me. What do you think about the bezel?

Yesssss cherry coke is spot on, the red matches cherries well. Tudor added a bit too much brown sugar tho for my liking lol!

The BB58 GMT needed a more red bezel over burgundy and white numerals in my opinion. They gave faults to what should have been an out of the park home run by going to warm and yellow with it. I saw this and found myself willing to go for the Diet Pepsi instead even if its thickness is an issue. The new 41mm black is just money somehow.

The P39 is not shiny 😅 seriously. I have mixed feelings about the Tudor new releases, I don't really like the vintage vibe (rivets, gilt, ...)

For me at least compared to the matte look of my P42 it's a bit too shiny but the P39 wears fantastically and now with the new GMT movement I'm sensing a P39 pelagos which would be super tempting! And there would no vintage vibes to speak of so all the better lol!

BB58 GMT missed the mark for me with the gilt and no 5 link bracelet option. Hopefully next year. And also a BB58 black/white next year too.

Not a gilt guy, but often it’s much softer and subtle in person so will reserve judgement until I see one in person

Yeah I'm not sure why they haven't put it on a jubilee yet given they put the BB41 on it but yeah less gilt especially on the bezel would be better. Normally I would have said that a black/white BB58 would step on the toes of the submariner but here we are with a black/white BB that has the same case size as the sub so anything can happen at this point and I'd be all for it!

Tudor should have switched the black bay 58 GMT colors to monochrome to match the Rolex GMT because the gilt dial doesn't seem to go well with the watch in pictures

Why is the gmt bezel not lumed if it's homaging bakelite. Would be a great mod if anybody makes it

To do that they'd have to go for a ceramic or sapphire/acrylic bezel insert to have it fully lumed which I would be all for it would look super cool! Hopefully someone makes one and in the meantime it'll get rid of the gilt numerals as well

Black Bay black looks nice but I still find them to be too fat for a basic no date diver. Nice looking watch though.

Yeah there's no reason why it couldn't have been in the 12mm range but in the wrist it feels much better than the 13.6mm thickness would suggest tho thankfully. I'm glad they put it such a clean variant tho!

@@thewatchidiot yeh I was eyeing off the heritage one at one stage and it does appear to wear a lot better. Definite improvement and for sure a great addition to the line up.

VAER Watch Co. about a year ahead on all this. They came out with a 39mm, 200 m WR, SS, true-GMT last year. Less than $1,000. Also, VAER’s DS-4 Solar diver is a 38mm, solar-powered, SS, quartz (highly accurate) “Submariner”. You can wear a cheaper watch with confidence, without guilt, and without fear. I don’t work for VAER. I’m just a watch fanatic. I own Rolex GMT II’s, a Rolex Sea-Dweller, a Rolex Sky-Dweller, a Rolex Explorer I and a II, an Omega Speedmaster, a Grand Seiko, etc., etc. I started buying nice watches in 1995; each time convincing (fooling) myself that this purchase was “the one” 🙄. For me, I have decided that I get more enjoyment out of less expensive, but still tough watches. So, my advice to my fellow watch-addicts: look around; I would bet that you can find a pretty damn nice watch that meets your standards for less than $1,500.

I bought this popular video watch from nkuwan , which was originally priced at a few thousand dollars, but now it's only $380! It's really suitable to pick up feces!

It’s subjective but the GMT is simply ugly in my opinion. It’s the Watch equivalent to a relic’d Fender guitar.
