It's even more fucked up when you realize it's vaguely rooted in pedophilia too. There's more plastic to make the head wider for a larger area and so is the handle for better control as you're shaving larger areas and not just the face. Ahrgug no one is tearing down men here but other men. Toxic masculinity is about men pressuring and degrading other men for not living up to the lofty standard of what they think "manly" is. Often using women and gay men as an insult. Saying things like "What? You cried at the end of that movie? Are you f***ing gay lol pussy". Toxic masculinity is also pressuring women to conform to an ideal standard for both appearance and behavior for them. Such as expecting them to have shaved legs and to want marriage and motherhood. This is what toxic masculinity is, it's not hating men for enjoying cars, sports and women who choose to be more feminine, it's calling out the jerks who berate other men and women for not living up to these stupid standards from 100+ years ago.

Anyways none of this should matter to me I don't shave anyways it's just *minorly infuriating*

SOLVED: Zack cut himself because he's the skinniest. His bones stick out creating a really uneven (and firmer surface because he's a guy) so the razor can't flatten that surface but ends up cutting into it. The front of your shin is the hardest part of the leg that isn't covered by fat and isn't pliable so that's where one is most likely to cut themselves. It's also different from shaving your face because that area is softer and the skin there is more elastic and can be pulled straight to avoid cuts.

*PSA: Zach is getting cuts on his legs because the razor is clogged.* Hair is caught in certain areas of the razor, meaning the blades are no longer straight and even. He has to press harder to get the blade close enough to his skin to shave more hair, but the uneven surface of the blade is just making him cut himself on the areas where the blade is clean. SO. If your shave suddenly starts becoming uneven, check your razor. If your razor is clogged, either clean it, or discard for a new razor. Otherwise you’ll get cuts like Zach.

And I showed them my leg hair which was a little grown out and I said “see, I have hair on my legs and your dad still loves me” and we talked about how it’s important not to be with someone because of what they look like but for the kind of person they are. It’s weird how many female gender norms include pain: pierced ears, shaving/waxing, plucking, high heels, underwire push-up bras/corsets, burning your hair, poke your eye with pencils, curl your eyelashes, etc. Historically the list is even more horrifying, like foot binding. Heck biologically we even get pain monthly! And though I haven’t tried foot binding, I have suffered all the rest yet I am ALWAYS surprised by how bad plucking my eyebrows hurts! Why? Why does it never get easier?!?!

Well, not all girls get painful periods (at least not all of my female classmates do), piercings and high heels are more of an individual style choice - they're not the norm and not every girl will get pierced or wear high heels 3 inches stack. And there are guys who get pierced as well, the pain is the same for guys just as it is for girls. As a guy in middle school, I had to put on eyeliner and lipstick to go onstage on a regular basis, I've worn skirts and tights and even fit a 3/4-cup bra as part of my mandatory co-curricular activity.

@@SpecJack15 and I think that’s awesome! I was speaking more as a woman who grew up in suburbia in the 90’s where there was an alarming amount of...not pressure I guess, more unspoken unarguable expectation. As a young girl there was never a question of IF I would get my ears pierced, just when because y’know, how else could people know my privates were innies rather than outies?!? It’s stupid. Even worse, when I finally did to my ears pierced I traumatically discovered I have calcium deposits in my earlobes...it hurt sooooo much, and made an auditory crunch noise, like breaking through a tiny bone. So I decided not to do the other ear cuz one was enough! Which led to years of people assuming I was a lesbian because I only had one ear pierced...Again, moronic. Sexuality and earlobes have nothing to do with each other. (And if there’s a fetish out there proving me wrong about that statement please don’t tell me I don’t want to know about it lol!) But if nothing else, I so incredibly proud and thankful for younger people like you nowadays blurring those lines, having autonomy over their body and decisions, with no stupid definitions and much less sexist expectations. These things SHOULD be optional so anyone who wants to can, and people who don’t want to never have to start, and it means nothing more than that. Because I can understand pain secondary to as beauty, or for fashion, for personal interest, like getting a tattoo, piercing, wearing stilettos or a corset; but that pain is a choice every and any one should get to make for themselves. It’s when people become pressured by society to do it even if they don’t want to that is horrendous, especially because it’s presented as “normal” so there’s not even room for argument. I remember vividly the day I was 14 in gym class and another girl went, “OMG you don’t shave your legs yet?! EW.” And thinking even then that this was not a person I wanted having regular access to a razor lol. It was like a modern day Sweeney Todd moment (referenced for you young theatrite!) when a razor for shaving was suddenly presented to me as this normal thing and that I was somehow less than for having not used it yet. Because somehow being a woman is dependent on absolutely no hair follicles showing except the ones we deem attractive! Like wtf? It’s hair. History shows many cultures have tattoos, piercings, and accoutrements, along with their own specific meaning and rites of passage. I’m just glad that now more than ever before, people are afforded their right to choose which are for them, instead of the other way around. Rock on and keep acting!

I don’t normally shave my legs, I just let it grow! So…here is a tip. Since most women shaving their legs only have stubble, a razor is fine. But if you are a guy shaving your legs for the first time (or someone who rarely shaves like me), use a trimmer first to get the hair short. That way you don’t have a bunch of long hair clogging up your razor.
