Each of them have assumptions about the other based on things they've seen or heard, but when they get to know each other and realize they have more in common than they thought, romance ensues. Or, one of my favorites, is the competitive nature turned to love. Two people always trying to outdo the other in competition and that turns into a rivalry, then respect, then love.

I wonder if the hero is usually white because they are written by white authors and for them to write a POC it would be taboo. Almost be like they’re profiting on another race.

Eugene's the guy who doesn't care about anyone and anything. Throughout the story he is just about survival. And then he meets these three guys he need to pair with to survive. And as story goes, even after constantly keeping himself apart and try not to get attached, he starts to care about them and as the time comes to end the suffering at last through a final sacrifice he jumps in and does it, not giving the others any choice. To save this family he has found. 😭😭😭 you can't tell me Eugene isn't the best character for the sacrifice arc.

Redemption arcs CAN happen to good characters! Aang from Avatar the Last Airbender went through one. He wasn’t evil, but made a wrong choice in a moment of weakness and ran away from his responsability to save the world, leaving his home to suffer 100 years of war. And he grows to assume said responsability through personal growth 🤗 But obviously, a redemption has a bigger impact when it’s a villain-ish character growing and getting better (ZUKO).

It's kind of like a redemption arc mixed with a Choosen One trope, because, yes, he made the wrong choice, but he was like, 10! He had to go on a journey, but a large part of that journey was to fix his mistake and beat the Fire Nation. It's not totally his fault in my opinion because they expected a literal child to protect them, but I do get your point.

I love how deeply they go into all of this. Like some people would answer and then just move on, but they fully discussed each one and what their role was in each situation.

My version of an YA with them: - Zach, a servant that is know as a waste of space; - is mistreated by the noble Ned until he finds out he's a prodigy with magic, something that commoners weren't supposed to; - he have a tense relationship with Ned while friends with Keith on the Mage school and have a problem with the equally talented (and from a shady and powerful family) Eugene; - Students start to vanish and both Zach and Keith start to suspect Eugene; - but turns out Keith was the evil one all this time (twist of the 1st volume) and Eugene eventually pull a Zuko and joins Zach and Ned to stop Keith before he destroy everything but he scapes; - while getting stronger to face Keith, he and Ned eventually fall in love, not knowing Eugene likes Zach as well; - to save them, Ned sacrifices himself in the end of book 2 and Keith take control; - with no hope, book 3 is around Zach and Eugene searching from an ancient form a magic classified as extinct to defeat Keith; - they win the final battle and end up together - flashfoward a few years and they adopt a son naming him in homage to Ned.

same sis. I nearly exploded into glitter when i saw the notification and started watching it.

They are close to right in the family roles. Keith is the totally exasperated mum. A little bit dramatic, fun, with a good heart. Ned has to be the dad but he is super over enthusiastic and wild. He is a whirlwind. Zach is the uncle who practically lives with you. Kind of eccentric but super cool and introduces you to the best music. Eugene is the slightly distant and way too cool but ultimately best older brother ever. At the end he says something really insightful and caring that fixes your emotional arc. The main character is the younger sister author stand in of whoever writes this book.

Eugene: "...and because I have very little regard for my own wellbeing" Other Try guys: mmm mhmm *protective mode engaged*

I wrote this before finishing the video and looking at the other comments. I'm glad to see I accurately judged these guys based on the 4 videos I've seen of them XD

Eugene is definitely a rEpReseNtAtiON character. Like everyone in the book is white and straight and writer's like oh shit I should put some representation in this and they add one gay or of color character and squish them somewhere in the story.

Eugene might be the only sparkly vampire I'd accept.

This is basically TGGT, New York Edition 🤣 Half way through the audio book and I'm loving it!

For the "My Crazy Monster Family" each chapter needs to be written from the perspective from one of the family members and maybe the "Try Wives" write the 3rd person narratives in between! I'd read it!

It's funny how they were all agreeing with enemies to lovers being Ned and Zach when in the friendship DNA test, they were the most compatible

Watched the “kissss meeeee” part ten times. That was so perfect cuz it actually happened!

The person that would be the villian without realizing it would Soooo be Ned. It was not hard for me at all to think about that. The actual question though I think would be Zach or Keith. I love you guys! Keep trying
