THE TRUTH! My Real Thoughts about the Mustang Dark Horse

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Over 7,000 miles into my ownership of the Ford Mustang Dark Horse, let's talk about the pros and cons, while at the track for the first time! I'm at Apex Motor Club in Arizona to talk about what I like, what could be improved, and some further thoughts. All meanwhile, with the V8 roaring!
I collected the S650 7th gen Mustang back in October, and the last 4 months have flown by since leaving Pat Milliken Ford, and shipping the car off to Ceramic Pro Chicago for the PPF installation. In the time since we set off on a massive tour down to Florida, and then across the country to Las Vegas to attend SEMA. Since then, it's had some good runs around the West Coast including up to visit ‪@TheStradman‬ and then over to Velocity Invitational. Along the way it has had a few sets of tyres after I shredded the original Trofeo RS at ‪@HennesseyPerformanceF5‬ and replaced them with some Michelin Cup 2 tyres, that I then had to change again after one had a full puncture.
For the spec of the American Shmeemobile, I went for the Dark Horse Handling Package to give it the upgraded suspension setup, wider wheels and tyres, and more aggressive aero, along with the 6 speed Tremec manual gearbox. Therefore, we've got a perfect spec machine for a track day outing, which brings us to where we are today.
Join me therefore at Apex Motor Club, a private member's facility south of Phoenix, Arizona, and a track where there are member's garages and a fully inclusive service to enhance the experience. With phase 1 in operation, the track is fully up and running, with even more to come in the future including a new clubhouse. A special thanks to my friend Kent, and the full team at Apex Motor Club for the opportunity to join and drive for the day.
There is no doubt that getting the beast out onto track makes for a seriously fun day, and something I've been looking forward to for sure. It's also been overdue to give some feedback and review thoughts on the car that I've now drive for many, many miles.
Thanks for watching, Tim

Knowing what I know now and if given the chance to travel back in time to my graduating year of high school (2001) when we’re supposed to pick our career paths, it’s no Elon Musk, Bezos or Zuckerberg for me. I’d pick your line of work every time. You’re living the epitome of what it means to be a petrol head and that’s where my passion lies above all else. Cars. And you are humble enough to know how special a job it is to do what you do while making a fine living along with it. A serious congratulations for all your hard work! Your seat problem is easily solved Tim. Since its got manual adjust seats, you can quickly & simply slide the seat back when getting in or out, then slide it forward when ready to drive. I do it each time I get in or out of my MX-5. Quickly fixed that issue.

Hey Shmee I live In Vancouver Canada. We get a lot of rain this time of year. Picked my Dark Horse on Jan 12. Two days later took off the Trefao RS put on some Pilot sport at4 to drive in the rainy days. I will then put them back on in summer. Also, I'm 6'2" 260 lbs I have the Recaros when I get in I just do what girls do with miniskirts. I sit in it then bring my legs over the sill and into the car. As for the dash just get a dash pad like you would do if you lived in Florida or anywhere it's sunny most of the year. But I have to say I love my Shadow black Dark Horse premium with the handling package and the Tremec and I bloody love it.

The Dodge Challenger lineup is available with a NA V8 and a 6 speed manual also. I have a 2023 Dodge Challenger 392 T/A 6 speed manual with the R/T, Scat Pack, Widebody, and T/A packages on it. It's awesome. The manual on the Scat Pack gives you 3 more HP and 10 more ft-lbs of torque, for a total of 488 HP and 485 lb-ft of torque. Autos have 485 HP/475 TQ. The manual also has a 3.90 rear gear vs the 3.27 in the auto. I installed a Hurst Pistol Grip shifter too, which made a huge difference in the shifting quality. I love the car!

It's the last year for the cars you're talking about. That's why Stellantis skipped the Chicago auto show because they have only one new product released the past decade. The Alfa Romero Tonale, I mean Dodge Hornet. Nothing new to show. Mark Ups on the final editions are crazy with DC area dealers selling Demon 170s for $230,000 to over $300,000. If the only feature owning a Hemi Dodge or even a Hemi Chrysler is driving a dated interior car in a straight lines. That's what it's made for. That's why you don't see Challenger in the IMSA GTD Pro series. I'm finding the selections are currently good at your local Dodge dealers. I own a 2018 chrysler 300C Hemi purchased new in 2018. The only areas Stellantis is doing well at is destroying both the Dodge and Chrysler brands while focusing on Europe. From reviews and test drives. The Mustang lineup like the Dark Horse and GT with even the Refreshed 2025 Explorer ST are fresh, tech filled and not one trick ponies 😮😮handling both straight lines and road course performance. Stellantis is destroying both the Dodge and Chrysler brands. I will never purchase another Stellantis brand vehicle especially after test driving a Dark Horse with a handling package

Here's some fuel usage info for the Dodge Charger Hellcat Redeye. *According to J.D Power, the Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye can drain its entire gas tank in just 11 minutes. That's thanks to dual-stage fuel pumps that help its 6.2-liter Hemi V8 gulp down dinosaur juice at a rate of 1.43 gallons (5.4 liters) per minute*.

I absolutely love the Mustangs, but your Gt500 is still my favorite. (The new ford GT is one of my dream cars) To me a Camaro 1Le and especially a ZL1 1LE is a far easier car to drive at the limit hands down and more worth the $ spent to me personally. I truly appreciate your ford collection Tim so I understand why you buy them, I’m really hoping you add a Yellow with black stripes 05 or so Ford GT, and possibly an older fastback vintage model, it would really complete your collection. I’d keep the Gt500 and get rid of the Dark Horse in the future. Always appreciate your content Schmee, all the best in 2024!

Regarding your infotainment system. Visit a Ford dealership or even contact Ford Customer care to discuss your issues. Like my other brands issues. An upgrade repaired my issues at my dealership. Regarding adding more horsepower. Whipple has a supercharger available that will push your horsepower to 750 horsepower at the rear wheels. Contact Ken at Palm Beach Dyno (Florida). Tell him your story. He's one of the best tuning and creating horsepower in Ford Mustangs. I also believe Hennessy has an HP850 Dark Horse package.

23:55 I have the same issue getting in and out of my GT350R. I literally can't get in the car with the seat at my driving position. The remedy is to always slide the seat back and/or put the steering wheel in its highest position when you get out of the car. That way you don't have to worry about unnecessary and premature wear on the seat and steering wheel.

It would be a quite welcome addition to track day videos if you could superimpose or briefly show a track map so we know what the layout is like without requiring outside research.

Great Video, I own a 2023 S550 Mach 1 with the Handling Package. Lots of similarities and with my prior 2019 GT PP1 I also had the same issue with the Recaro seats. This is why the Mach 1 has the , how I call it, " american seats" :)

I have the same issue with the seats in my GT350, have to move the seat forward and back to make enough space otherwise it wears the bolster away. I definitely think it's because of needing to be closer for the clutch pedal. Small price to pay for all the noise and 3 pedals!

I think as you own this car that more power is a great thing. You could take it to shelby in Vegas and it modified. Just a suggestion Your videos are excellent

Tim, love the mustang content. Curious to hear your thoughts on Dark Horse vs GT350. Both MT but the gt350 engine is something special. Maybe I’m biased, but I think you’d really enjoy the 350.

I don't necessarily think you're wrong. I had this exact discussion the evening of this track day with a GT350 owner.

I ordered this exact spec dark horse for germany (US military civ) and I did not win the lottery (they told me at the point of decline that they were only shipping 2 US spec dark horses to Europe). So I got another C6Z. I am not disappointed...

Why not do a nearly clear tint on the windshield? Like with your side windows, its basically undetectable. Will make a huge difference and won't heat up the dash and screen as much.

The windshield chip could be fixed with a mobile truck. They come to you and do it. Insurance usually covers it.
