    Thanks for sharing. Couple of questions: 1) not very clear when it woeks well and when it doesn't, specially in light of the issues your mentioned at rhe end. 2) Did you find a better alternative and affordable lens? ($100-250) range.

    @om80sman You're welcome! Thank you for watching! Well to answer your question, is it works when you don't have a lot of light near you at night. Unfortunately any kind of light source that is bright is going to give you the ghosting at night and give you lens flare during the day. I found that using an extended lens hood helps during the day but you may need to hold up your hand to try to block the flare. At night its a lot harder to use this lens. I have discovered though that when you use this lens on a full frame camera the lens flare/ghosting isn't as bad as it can be on a crop sensor camera like the D7000. I haven't given up on this lens completely though, it has tac sharp optics and is a nice light lens. I was looking into the Nikkor 28mm to see if I could find anything about that lens, and from what I can see it produces some very sharp images. It is also a fast lens, which is a plus. I do own a 28-105 macro f/3.5-5.6 lens though and I would say that is one of my favorite lenses the only problem with that lens is that it is slower. Hope this helps. Kris

Me gusta mucho tu canal. Saludos desde Queretaro, Mexico.

    @fernieto84 Hi Fernando, I love your comment about this lens. I defiantly agree, now that I have had this lens for a bit now, I have come to realize that you are right, the imperfections defiantly give the photographs produced with this lens character. You are not the only one who was eager to get this lens after watching my video. I had a wedding photographer who was using the newer version of this lens and did not like the quality that is was producing and wanted to buy the older version because of its unique characteristics. He then told me that the images that he had gotten were exactly what he was looking for. And said sometimes lenses can be too sharp and the glass in this particular lens is just perfect especially since it was created during the early film days. I am so grateful my review has helped you as well in making a decision in buying this lens. Thank you so much for watching! I really appreciate it! I am really happy you like my channel. @@Kris_World It's going on my Nikon F5. I photograph weddings almost entirely on film. ^-^ So I picked it up a couple weeks ago, the 24mm 2.8 D, and I was blown away by the gorgeous images it took with my D700. So it's a keeper for sure. Glad I picked it and it's a perfect replacement for the 'newer' 1.8 G version.

    @thedrunkweddingphotographer Oh that's a really nice film camera. Its nice to hear that there are still photographers with creative talents such as yourself that still use the film medium as their main type of camera. I'm so happy you were able to get a good copy of the lens. I now finally own a Nikon D700 and I agree the results are pretty amazing on this full frame camera. Thank you again for watching my video and may this lens give you some great experiences. Take care! Kris

    Doesn’t sound like it would work great with a Nikon D 3400 because it doesn’t have a built-in motor in the camera body. Which probably would render it manual focus?

  • @Kris_World

    @Kris_World

    @pjcardone164 Yes since the Nikon D3400 doesn't have a motor drive, the lens would have to be manually focused.

    how is it in comparison to Nikon 24mm f/2.8 AI-s

  • @Kris_World

    @Kris_World

    10 ай бұрын

    @myblueandme Hi, unfortunately I do not own the AI-s version, but it would be a nice lens to acquire to check this out someday. What I can tell you is the build quality is much different than its newer version. The old version is all metal and the newer version has a lot of plastic. It is a heavier lens than my 50mm 1.8 though. I would say that the the built quality of the AF version feels very solid. It does have a metal lens mount which is good but as far as optics go I would imagine them to be pretty close to being the same. One is AF/MF and the AI-s version is only a manual focus lens. Hope this helps. Kris

    from what I've read/seen, Nikon DID NOT change the optical formula from the 2.8 AIS to the AF 24 2.8 and finally the AF 24 2.8 D versions. So in theory, all three versions should give you the results seen in this video.

  • @Kris_World

    @Kris_World

    10 ай бұрын

    @davidhunt3161 When using the 24mm 2.8d on it, the camera unfortunately doesn't perform as well as I would like it to. I believe the crop factor of the sensor makes the lens give off a ghosting effect at night and during the day there is a lot of lens flare. I have tested it on my d700 and it does not perform the same way at all. In fact the flare and ghosting effect of this lens when used with the d700 is barely noticeable. I love my d7000. It's a fantastic camera. I just don't believe the 24mm 2.8d lens is necessarily a good fit for it. I hope that helps. Kris

    Crop sensors with wide angle Fx lenses seems to be less usefull/meaningfull compared to the use of a narrow angle Fx lenses i.e 50mm or more. Moreover a 24mm fx lenses with crop sensors does not have the same characteristic as a 35mm Fx lenses using full frame sensors and the discrepancies are even more prominent for wide angle lenses.

    @richardpetrovic8941 I agree with you the light was too harsh when I took some of these photos and the camera didn't know how to use the optics properly because of it being a crop sensor. Later that year I got a full frame camera and tested this lens and had much better results. So after playing around with it I have come to the conclusion that the lens doesn't work as well as it could with crop sensor cameras. Thank you for watching! Kris
