There is an interview of Väinö in a finnish disc golf paper where Väinö said this leaving was his choise and he has been working on this since December with Prodigy so I doubt Väinö's deperarure was due to money reasons for atleast for the most part.

I would also like to speculate on the impact of social media presence. Does it have any bearing on contracts? Väinö Mäkelä was by far the most popular social media character of the brand, but the problem is that the presence is only in Finland.

Never been a prodigy fan but I really like the NHL stamped discs and pulled the trigger on a distortion.

Vaino surprised me more. I never viewed them as paying him to perform on the pro tour, I thought he was more for being an ambassador over in Europe and growing the sport while representing their brand. Which as far as I know he's doing. I'm not following the EU scene closely but seems like he's really involved over there within the community. Not to be mean but I don't view Vaino as a top level player, I view him much more as an ambassador and someone who is really going to help grow the euro scene. He's a great dude, I bought the prodigy bag with his logo on it so I do support the guy. That being said if they had signed him based on performance I can understand their reasoning.

Okay, so I don't know if this is relevant, but I had reached out to Prodigy in 2021 or 2022 about procuring baskets for a course I designed, and I had a great interaction with them, but ultimately decided to go with a different basket. Fast forward to TODAY, and I get an email from them, basically asking if I need anything. Call me what you want, but it's kind of suspicious timing that really makes me feel as if Prodigy is really strapped for cash.

i have been in multiple brick and mortar stores that have altogether stopped selling prodigy discs. The gannon thing, saying they were probably in the right doesnt really work in sports contracts. If you have a player vastly outperform their contract you either pay him or he goes somewhere that will or he sits out historically, the only time the team makes out to be the good guys is if they pay him.
