Here's what I like living in Singapore: - Public transport is so convenient and I can just get around without owning a car! There's also escalators in all the MRT stations which is so so convenient especially if you are carrying heavy stuffs or when you don't want to use the stairs. - No natural disasters which means I can sleep in peace every night without ever being woke up by earthquakes or typhoons - Safety: Agreed with what you mentioned, I can stay out at night or come back home after midnight without much worries. - Strong currency: Spore's strong currency allows us to spend comfortably most of the time during overseas travel. - Amenities and healthcare convenience: Wet markets, hawker centres, coffeeshops are around to provide affordable alternatives. When sick, can just go to a neighbourhood clinic instead of hospitals unlike other countries. This will also free up resources in hospitals for emergencies. Our healthcare quality and infrastructure is also top notch. We don't have to worry about staying in dirty hospital rooms. - Food! - Being a multi-racial country, there's so much food choices from pratas to mee gorengs to Hokkien mee! Not forgetting other countries' cuisine like Korean, Japanese, Italian etc (authentic or not is another issue). - Environment: Our environment is generally quite clean and you don't see vandalism on the walls on the streets like other European countries (thanks to the strict laws). We ladies can wear heels without much of a problem since the pathways in Singapore are less slopey and surfaces are even (don't have to worry about getting heels stuck or trip over some hole). - Water: Water is clean and we could drink straight right from the tap if we want to and without a worry on the water supply shortage (water conservation is still important). I recalled seeing people in London supermarkets buying gallons of drinking water. So thankful we don't need to do that here. - Weather: Singapore would be almost perfect if she has a cooler average temperature but hey! there's always air-conditioner which will resolve this easily and we can enjoy it in malls, offices and public transports. Anyway, laundry will get to dry up faster (with the sunshine and not mouldy smell) which also saves money without the need to purchase a dryer. And I agree with some comments that there is no need for moisturiser most of the time due to the humidity (skin is less dry compared to when in cold weather countries). Overall, I am fortunate and am grateful to be a Singaporean. =) P.S: I know this is a lengthy comment.

I am 46 now and shifted to singapore 2 years ago. I am in LOVE with this place. The security is the BIGGEST reason Why I love it. My kids come home late sometimes and I don’t worry about their safety. Locals complain SO much about the weather but I LOVE it. This year especially the sea breeze was almost constant and going out for walks has been absolutely wonderful. Humidity has been really good to my skin. I didn’t drive here because I didn’t need to with the awesome transportation system. And I had a transformation with my personal growth here. I want to live here forever ❣️❣️

why? For westerners like yourselves, it is easier to gain respect and to get high pay while working in SG and you will blend in just fine. But for those who come from 3rd world countries to make money like me, I dont feel like getting blending in. The food is different, the culture is also different, the houses are so expensive, you pay so much just to have a tiny little space. Oh well, maybe some westerners are already sick of their big houses with big garden but we love big houses with big garden by the way. I just earn some money to support my family and some little more extra to start a career back home.

I studied & worked in the Midlands for 7 years in my 20s. Great travel experiences all around the UK & still have many friends there. But, learnt to hold tight to belongings, lock the car doors when driving, avoid certain inner city areas, put home lights + loud music on timer whenever out/away etc. Singapore is not perfect, but it IS very good.

Singapore isn't Singapore without diversity, including our foreign friends staying here. That's the only way the place will grow too. New and diverse perspectives from our foreign friends. Bless u as u move back to the UK next year. Hope to continue seeing ur videos U will make from the UK.

Thank you Georgia for all the great videos you have done, introducing the world to Singapore, and Singaporeans a taste of how foreigners living here view us. You come from the UK, with friends and family there, so realistically there is a always higher chance that you will move back home rather than settling here permanently. I’m sure it’s pretty much the same for any Singaporean living overseas now. So, don’t ever feel apologetic and all of us will wish you all the best when you eventually go back. Most important is the memories you have created and shared with us here. To us, you are pretty much a Singaporean already. Singapore will always welcome you back! We welcome anyone who share our love for this place we call home!

I'm one of those people. 😅After living in the US for a few years I'm so glad for the convenience and safety here! I do prefer the hot/humid weather vs freezing cold winters. I lived in SoCal and the weather was perfect most of the year except in winter when it was 15 deg celcius (yea I'm a wimp when it comes to cold) and I wished for Singapore weather again. Would love to hear your reasons for leaving as well!

Yeap I have a permanent layer of dry skin on my cheeks thanks to being stubborn and not using any form of protection while standing on wave rock in temperatures above 40°C. The thing is we tropical animals somehow do not realise it is that hot, as the air is dryer. When our skin do not perspire as much, we think it is not that hot!

Thank you Georgia for posting this video , agree 100% with you - I was very sad leaving SG 😢... let me share my experience living in SG , I am Canadian Chinese and got my first job with Citibank Sg in the 90’s. Both my kids were born in SG Mt E hospital ( best birthing experience ever !) and fully paid by company ! My favourite memories 1) safety - 100%, I used to tell cab drivers who complain about SG how I needn’t street proof my kids as it’s so safe, I have never been accosted or robbed or burglarized / whereas the first year I moved back to Toronto- my house was broken into and my loss amounted to $50k !!!!

I am an expat kid , I grew up and lived in Singapore from 9 - 21 years of age, barring one year in between. At the end of last year I graduated college and had to go to my home country India, and the Covid crisis began. It has just been such an unexpected turn of events, i however realised I am grateful for both countries, because that has given me one of the most important things ever and that is perspective. I appreciate my life in Sg when I compare and contrast it with my life in India, and I cherish my experiences In India cuz I never got them in SG. Yes the uprooting is REAL. But i have learnt to adapt and gained the confidence that I will thrive no matter where I am planted. Oscillating between these 2 countries is the life I have known and now maybe it’s time for me as the opportunity presents itself to step out and away from these places I call home, and its SCARY for me. I have to remind myself that I am a Daughter of the Earth 🌎 and good experiences, a community and opportunities will find me no matter where I go.

    5) the “convenience” - I lived around tg Rhu and walking distance to the gardens by the bay, Marina Bay Sands, the stadium, the East Coast park etc etc - despite the heat , I loved walking everywhere in SG , I would walk after dinner for 2-3 hours often crossing Benjamin shears bridge ( that was also my route to work - to Millenia tower) and it was so safe. Took my New York friends on such walk after 10 pm across gardens by the bay to Marina Bay Sands and back ax shears bridge and under the bridge - my friends were freaking out afraid of being “jumped by thugs” ... no such thing in SG ! I laughed at my American friends !🤪

I have never been to America but I have heard similar stories from Americans in Singapore. How nobody will go out after certain time, there are certain places to avoid after certain time. How Americans or New Yorkers will not go outside walking for no purposes, how nobody walk on the sideways except joggers. Everyone sit in their cars only. I didn't comment then to them, but it sounds to be like a very sad life where you have to actively plan with a purpose whenever you leave your house and you can't even explore your neighbourhood on feet.
