    @@MetalHeart8787I assume so. Sometimes artists do things like that to kind of preserve or give an extra-vibe to a project or album, and saying a story like that, that they paid a random guy from the street to do real punches for the cover kind of enhances the idea or the album’s vibe. Idk if you get what I mean lmao. Because certainly I like the idea that the album cover was made with Vinnie and Rex’s story because it makes it seem cooler.

    according to metallum Sean Cross is the man on the cover shown being punched. Contrary to popular rumors, Cross was never actually punched according to Brad Guice who took the image. The myth that he was a fan of the band and was paid 10 dollars for each punch to the face to be caught on camera was dispelled by Guice as he explained in an interview that the dynamic effect to make it look like a real punch was all just clever photography and editing

    Classic rock music lore. I remember hearing the story that the guy on the cover went around on the street paying people to punch him as a sociological experiment. Imagine taking 30+ knuckle sandwiches to the face. You are either stupid or in need of help if you do that voluntarily. One or two maybe, but 32 will have you spitting teeth and give you facial fractures.

    Bruce Lee. It's a vertical fist and you can get a longer reach than a horizontal. It's in his Bruce Lee's Complete Fighting Method book that he had his close friends photograph him doing all the things he wanted to show and teach. This is one of the things he learned from his foundational art Wing Chun. And he never changed it unlike most of what he learned from Wing Chun. It's not for everyone but it is an effective punch. Focus on the bottom 3 knuckles making an impact. Also Bruce says it's a better punch than a horizontal bc you don't have to use any more energy or another step such as twisting your forearm when going to deliver a horizontal punch. So the vertical would be faster bc most people hands are vertical when at the on gaurd stance not horizontal. Shoot your hand out in the same position as you are holding it. Bruce looked for the most simple, effective, motion of economy and fastest way to take someone out.

    @@joelsbowlsarejoelsgoals9636 not keeping your wrist straight is a bad idea. You also need to transfer energy on your lower arm whi h weakens the punch from your shoulder.

  • @joelsbowlsarejoelsgoals9636

    @joelsbowlsarejoelsgoals9636

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@tiborosz1825 the power should come from a sudden twist of the hips and waist not from your shoulder. Your arm is the bearer of the power not the one making the force. Its the track that the power from your whole body runs through. You extend your arm with the shoulder muscle to straighten it and the twist from your waist is what forms the power and your arm and fist stay loose and relaxed. Right before your fist hits the target you squeeze your fist and forearm (this is why bruces arms were small but his forearms are twice the size of his biceps) The bicep only pulls your forearm towards you, it doesn't add any strength to your punch. Your tricep is meant to extend your arm away from you but doesn't actually push or add any power to the punch so it's useless unless you're trying to do a hammer fist. The front deltoid lifts your arm up and if you use only that muscle your arm will extend while the bicep, tricep and forearm is relaxed loose and not using any uneeded energy. This isnt for everyone but I'm telling you what Bruce said and even though people like to downplay Bruce, it's hard to disprove his ability to use his body in minimal effort to gain great power and strength.

    @@tiborosz1825 I agree in the picture on the album the dudes fist wasn't complete straight but tilted up more. It's bc he said he was pushing not actually punching. But yes even with a vertical fist it should be as straight as can be. The clenching of the fist and forearm right before impact will make that fist become hard and immovable.

I suppose my comment was not quite on topic, but I did think it was a very good example of how legends and mythology are developed. Those few guys at the beginning suggested and confirmed that it was some random guy really getting punched. Had no one dug any further, we would all have believed that. And yet, here is the guy that actually shot the photo explaining exactly how it came about. As for religion, well, I have heard the reasoning many times "why would the writers of the bible lie?" And while i think they may have believed what they were writing, none of them were there. Just as the band members believed the story but were not there when it took place. And usually the truth is quite mundane. Did you really think that my comment was on troll level? I am honestly surprised.

    Proof that sometimes Artists will spread total bullshit to create a public image. They knew the label hired a professional model to do the picture. But they knew that would hurt the image of the band so they made up a lie to generate buzz that fed into the image of the band. Now that the lie has been exposed it's just embarrassing for everyone involved. The reason the band went with a lower quality black & white version of the picture is because it made the punch look more real. The color version looks very good. However you can tell that the punch is fake because the quality is too good.
