More info on Voodoo:
Louisiana Voodoo, also known as New Orleans Voodoo, describes a set of spiritual folkways developed from the traditions of the African diaspora. It is a cultural form of the Afro-American religions developed by enslaved West and Central Africans populations of the U.S. state of Louisiana. Voodoo is one of many incarnations of African-based spiritual folkways rooted in West African Dahomeyan Vodun. Its liturgical language is Louisiana Creole French, the language of the Louisiana Creole people.
Voodoo became syncretized with the Catholic and Francophone culture of New Orleans as a result of the African cultural oppression in the region resulting from the Atlantic slave trade. Louisiana Voodoo is often confused with-but is not completely separable from-Haitian Vodoo and Deep Southern Hoodoo. It differs from Haitian Vodoo in its emphasis upon gris-gris, Voodoo queens, use of Hoodoo paraphernalia, and Li Grand Zombi. It was through Louisiana Voodoo that such terms as gris-gris (a Wolof term) and "Voodoo dolls"' were introduced into the American lexicon. -Wikipedia

Sista I was born into African Tradition. I can 100% assure you that NO African deity nor ANY African Ancestor is ANYWHERE around this vampire. This is simply another case of them exploiting us for profit. Globally, we are STILL dealing with unprovoked violence/racial animus, injustice and oppression from them, which is irrefutable proof that even after centuries of stealing ppls cultures, invading our spiritual centers and worming and begging their way into our sacred ille’s and traditions to “heal” and find themselves they Still have NOT cultivated even a pin drop of humanity. So you can rest assured our Deities and Egungun donot acknowledge or communicate with them.

STOP with the cultural appropriation bullshit. EVERY single culture in the world and EVERY single religion has taken aspects of other cultures, religions, etc and adopted them within their own practice. If we look at Voodoo practitioners who use poppets, THIS was taken from European Witchcraft. Does this mean voodoo practitioners should not be using poppets. Essential Oils did not come out of Africa nor did coloured candles, so does this mean every voodoo practitioner should stop using essential oils and coloured candles in their practices.

He don't even sound like he is from New Orleans. I bet he doesn't know much Creole either. I am a white guy (not that it should matter but it does). I think Vodou is a mysterious and amazing religion. It doesn't just end with religion but as sacred art. I don't think you choose the path of Vodou, Vodou is brought to you by the ancestors. Light path or dark path I believe you have to be called or chosen. I also think it would be very hard if not impossible for any white man to progress in Voodoo. The act would be as vane as a table with no legs. Anyone can claim Vodou priest, but not every priest can have power. The power comes from the ancestors whom amplify / work with the divine. Not by any means as a race debate but by a simple question of asking him "where does your power come from"? "How many ancestors who suffered, who practiced, can you call upon"? "How many gods can you actually commune with"? I have no doubt any would manifest to the call of any white man. Baron Samedi especially. I can hear him laughing and cursing now. This "Voodoo priest's" 23 and Me result describing 0.02 percent Sub Saharan African also doesn't count, just to be clear. Look, I don't bar anyone from transitioning religions but I don't condone profiting off of one you weren't born into or have no natural tie to, especially this organic of a cultural religion. This guy is meely running a shop off the main drag to net tourists. As much as I admire Voodoo I could never take of it. I have no ancestors to get me there into that realm. Besides, in the old days other than MAYBE the shirts on their backs, this art and religion is probably all the ancestors had. They suffered and when you suffer it brings you closer to god (or in this case gods). I could not bare to insult the people behind this religion, past or present. Voodoo is no place for a white man. Let it be I say. Let it stay with the ancestors and their true descendants. Voodoo and New Orleans will always have a friend and admirer in me though.
