Something else that NBA fans don't seem to realy know about him: he's the son of a famous French basketball player, Stéphane, who had a long and fruitful career including winning a silver medal in the Olympics in Sydney 2000, playing 34 minutes out of 40 (the most out of any player) in a close loss to the USA. Zaccharie has got some of his father's basketball IQ and is FOR SURE well-rounded and well-grounded. He's been in a profesionnal basketball environment literally his entire life! I agree that he seems to lack the "killer instinct" that makes the franchise players but he will be a great all-around player, give him time to develop.

I think the self creation concerns are really all secondary. The real question to ask is that, is the shooting overrated? Last season was the only season he shot over 35% from 3, and that's after blistering start where he shot almost 45% for 3 month. His freethrow percentage, both for his career and last season were in the less than impressive low 70% range. It is entirely fair to be a little nervous if his greatest strength on offense don't end up being a strength right away. Without the great shooting as foundation, a lot of the theoretical auxiliary upside for creation kind of crumbles

He was the only pick for the Hawks. The Hawks have bigs, and Sarr even said he didn't wan to come to Atlanta, so I don't think he was the guy. Clingon and Sheppard were the only other 2 options I saw thrown around by critics. Sheppard doesn't work, because then they're just drafting, at best, another Trae. Clingon fell pretty far, and still wouldn't fit. Risascher is the only player in the draft that I think the Hawks could have reasonably taken at the time who fits with the current roster. Good video.

The problem with Risacher is his shooting. He didn't finish his season on just a slump, he had a bad fall on the head, and got his muscle memory messed up by it. It's a thing. It could take years before he can shoot like the beginning of this past season. Ask Jordan Poole.

I wish we would have flipped this pick for multiple game changing defender ( We could have got Clingon, Holland and possible Ryan Dunn ) that could help immediatly. Yea sure down the road he might be solid. But he does nothing to make us better now, and we have no assits or cap space to build only the trade market. No one said he would be a bust. It’s the fit. Atlanta’s not a bad team, they could win now the right player. Their weakness was at the center position. They drafted a player that may be good, but only a slight improvement on what they have. They have decent wing defenders but Capela is too small and getting old and no one on the team is a starting caliber big. And the thing about someone playing in a “pro league” over seas has little relevance to the NBA. Lots of foreign league stars have come here and failed. The NBA draft is absolute garbage. Nearly every player drafted these days in the lottery would have been a 2nd round project in the 80s and 90s. None of these players are worthy of being lottery picks. Even the ones that are decent are going to be in year 3 or 4 before they become reliable players on an NBA roster. 90% of the time you are signing up for a few wasted seasons developing players that couldn't even consistently produce in the G League. I think the only solution is to eliminate the draft entirely. Its completely unnecessary and stupid. Just make everyone that declares for the NBA a Free Agent and the teams with cap room can sign the players they can afford. The rest can sign for the minimum on teams that have roster spots available or prove themselves worthy in Summer League. Then players will be forced to sink or swim. It will improve the NBA overnight. The NBA won't do this bc they like being in control of which teams get better and when.

This video makes me feel so much better about my Hawk’s pick!!!

I cannot understand the people that want to draft a guy that barely played in the NBL vs a guy that played well in the Euroleague and French NLB league. Australian NBL league guys all struggle hard in the NBA. Taking Risacher over Sarr anyday.
the only thing that concerns me is the fact neither DJ or Trae shouted out the new draftees like they usually do, if the hawks get rid of both Trae and DJ and go into full-rebuild idk what to say...
The draft was just weak, it is what it is. He’ll still be a solid player with a pretty high floor. Don’t think he’ll be a straight up bust at all, just somewhat limited upside for a first overall pick. A good piece if you’re building around Jalen Johnson, who is going to be one of the top 20 guys in the league very soon.
me who was waiting for a tingus pingus reference the entire time talking about what people thought was bad picks
As a hawks fan this is the right pick for sure
The draft is weak this year. No generational talents, but a group of talented players that have the potential to be solid NBA role players. With that being said, nobody wants their first #1 pick in 50 years when there is no stand out option lol. I can understand the frustration.
Biggest problem for Hawks during "Trae Young era" is Trae Young.
People just like to criticize. Human nature for some reason is we have to say something negative before being positive. Success to you ZR10

as a french who watch French prospect he's like a Franz wagner he's NBA ready a solid 3andD his best potential it's a Klay Thompson Wing
He's for sure the second best player in the draft it makes sense why they took him. What I'm expecting is that Zaccharie will end up being a better offensive player next year than sarr. But sarr will be better defensively.
My concern is that my Hawks have two perimeter guards that likes to dominate the ball which limits opportunities and stunts development of the younger players.

According to reports, Dejounte Murray or Trae young might be traded. Infact, Murray has an higher trade value than Trae. Therefore, Murray might be most likely traded
Bad pick, not because he’s not talented….bad pick because he’s not what the hawks needed.
A team who traded away all of there future pics has to take a big swing at potential superstar with Sarr. You may miss but picking Zacc with a obvious ceiling doesn’t move the team forward because hawks have no way of getting elite unicorns outside the draft
bro got the MP 2k23 experience
Generational Hybrid Player Wemby in a SF form basically 6’10 elite defense first elite fastbreak skills kind of excited him and Johnson plus Trae
Y’all remember when the Knicks drafted Porzingas?
my issue is not with the player its the fit. The hawks are supposedly are in win now mode. We are insanely small, with a aging center who is a shell of a defender that he used to be. We NEED BIGS! and have no cap sopace for free agents. This was a chance for us to get two solid holes filled and instead hes in na crowded front court fighting for minutes.
I think he'll be good. The NBA has zer0 defense, I think that's what the Atlanta Hawks are seeing the potential in this guy
For a long time, one thing we Hawks fans have been wishing for is a star wing. Let’s be thankful.
good to have him in Atl
Seems like John Collins, but a slightly better shooter. I will start watching the hawks if they pick up a big body 7 ft guy. Capela can hold his own but I want someone who can punch back in the paint. I would trade trey young for a big center and a good passing point guard who isn't necessary as good at creating. Trey's style will not win a title IMO
People acting like the Hawks are putting the ball in his hands for 48 minutes a night. Nah, be a defensive guy and move off ball on offence snd Trae will find you
If Frank Mason is the player that I know him to be and ZR , at age 18 was able to play in the same league as a 29YO Mason that’s potential I don’t mind betting on .
Thank you Hawks fans for not taking Sarr. I’m excited for my Wizards to work with him on his 3 point game, which he already has a good stroke for. Going to be a killer on both ends at that point. Oh yeah, and he’s 7’1. He’s already going to have a super high floor just from his defensive abilities alone

thanks as a Hawks fan you got me hype. Might actually be nice for him to hear he's the worst #1 pick cuz there's zero expectations to live up to. Just go out and ball and it will be easy to beat Anthony Bennet.
The Hawks and the Falcons both hit on their first rounds picks doubters just don’t know sports fr, both will go down as legends
Have you seen the Atlanta Hawks draft history? Fans have every right to be mad for that sole reason lol
zacc is not wemby, blanchero, or ants caliber , at least yet, but this year the draft level is lower by far i think, but still zacc a reallllly good player he will help atl a lot
He’s still young and inexperienced and will take a few years to adapt to the game.

Addressed the defensive issues further by bring in Dyson Daniel’s and Larry Nance and hawks fans are mad at that also. I think it's possible that Risacher will make an all star team at least once or twice.
