Sarr fans who’ve watched 0 minutes of anyone in this draft. Seriously, Hawks got a No1 pick for the first time in decades. There was no consensus star and many analysts had ZR as the 1. Hawks needed two things: more shooting and DEFENSE. ZR gives them exactly this. Jalen Johnson and ZR front court looks exciting.

Something else that NBA fans don't seem to realy know about him: he's the son of a famous French basketball player, Stéphane, who had a long and fruitful career including winning a silver medal in the Olympics in Sydney 2000, playing 34 minutes out of 40 (the most out of any player) in a close loss to the USA. Zaccharie has got some of his father's basketball IQ and is FOR SURE well-rounded and well-grounded. He's been in a profesionnal basketball environment literally his entire life! I agree that he seems to lack the "killer instinct" that makes the franchise players but he will be a great all-around player, give him time to develop.

I think the self creation concerns are really all secondary. The real question to ask is that, is the shooting overrated? Last season was the only season he shot over 35% from 3, and that's after blistering start where he shot almost 45% for 3 month. His freethrow percentage, both for his career and last season were in the less than impressive low 70% range. It is entirely fair to be a little nervous if his greatest strength on offense don't end up being a strength right away. Without the great shooting as foundation, a lot of the theoretical auxiliary upside for creation kind of crumbles

Clingon and Sheppard were the only other 2 options I saw thrown around by critics. Sheppard doesn't work, because then they're just drafting, at best, another Trae. Clingon fell pretty far, and still wouldn't fit. Risascher is the only player in the draft that I think the Hawks could have reasonably taken at the time who fits with the current roster. Good video.

The problem with Risacher is his shooting. He didn't finish his season on just a slump, he had a bad fall on the head, and got his muscle memory messed up by it. It's a thing. It could take years before he can shoot like the beginning of this past season. Ask Jordan Poole.

my issue is not with the player its the fit. The hawks are supposedly are in win now mode. We are insanely small, with a aging center who is a shell of a defender that he used to be. We NEED BIGS! and have no cap sopace for free agents. I wish we would have flipped this pick for multiple game changing defender ( We could have got Clingon, Holland and possible Ryan Dunn ) that could help immediatly. Yea sure down the road he might be solid. But he does nothing to make us better now, and we have no assits or cap space to build only the trade market. This was a chance for us to get two solid holes filled and instead hes in na crowded front court fighting for minutes.

Seems like John Collins, but a slightly better shooter. I will start watching the hawks if they pick up a big body 7 ft guy. Capela can hold his own but I want someone who can punch back in the paint. I would trade trey young for a big center and a good passing point guard who isn't necessary as good at creating. Trey's style will not win a title IMO

Oh yeah, and he’s 7’1. He’s already going to have a super high floor just from his defensive abilities alone

No one said he would be a bust. It’s the fit. Atlanta’s not a bad team, they could win now the right player. Their weakness was at the center position. They drafted a player that may be good, but only a slight improvement on what they have. They have decent wing defenders but Capela is too small and getting old and no one on the team is a starting caliber big. And the thing about someone playing in a “pro league” over seas has little relevance to the NBA. Lots of foreign league stars have come here and failed. He’s still young and inexperienced and will take a few years to adapt to the game.

@@radimov79 I wouldn’t say “perfect” when he plays the same position as Jalen Johnson. They’re gonna put him at SF because he’s skinny and his potential shooting ability. Quinn doesn’t really play young players so he’ll be in the G league like all the other young players for the Hawks.

Addressed the defensive issues further by bring in Dyson Daniel’s and Larry Nance and hawks fans are mad at that also. They wanted all star talent for Murray, but these new additions are here to add bench depth and perimeter defense. I like Bogi and Matthews as shooters, but they are trash defensively. Plus they get 2 future 1st rounders and I’m sure they’re far from done tweaking the roster. Hawks went to the 2021 ECF without Murray and their bench play was crucial during that run🤷🏽‍♂️.

To me this draft really doesn't have a player who is going to be a first option on a team, but a lot of possible second, third, fourth or even one hell of a sixth man (Rob Dillingham ), I admit I thought of the possibility of Atlanta taking Clingan, I'm think Risacher is what I'm thinking Hawks fan are wishing this is who they wished De'Andre Hunter was going to be . I think it's possible that Risacher will make an all star team at least once or twice.

The NBA draft is absolute garbage. Nearly every player drafted these days in the lottery would have been a 2nd round project in the 80s and 90s. None of these players are worthy of being lottery picks. Even the ones that are decent are going to be in year 3 or 4 before they become reliable players on an NBA roster. 90% of the time you are signing up for a few wasted seasons developing players that couldn't even consistently produce in the G League. I think the only solution is to eliminate the draft entirely. Its completely unnecessary and stupid. Just make everyone that declares for the NBA a Free Agent and the teams with cap room can sign the players they can afford. The rest can sign for the minimum on teams that have roster spots available or prove themselves worthy in Summer League. Then players will be forced to sink or swim. It will improve the NBA overnight. The NBA won't do this bc they like being in control of which teams get better and when.
