    I don’t know where your $500.00 was spent but the powertrain has a 100k warranty. I bought extended warranty for my 2022 for the rest of the truck, up to 6yrs 60k. The warranty paper work clearly excludes any emissions related items. From the turbo back nothing is covered. But the federal government force’s all auto makers to warranty emission components up to 80,000 miles or 10 years regardless of who owns the vehicle. You may get your $500.00 back.

    The engine placement in the 2019+ trucks even with a v8 is strange, pushed under the firewall. The radiator is also mounted back farther in the engine bay. To do repairs on any 2019+ silverado no matter the engine one needs to remove the wheel well liners. The 3L duramax and 2.7l gas turbo engine are much easier to work on than the V8 trucks. The cost of ownership is really what I look at. Fuel cost is significantly higher with the 5.3l V8 when looking at 100k miles. Just based on the EPA combined rating, you save 1705 gallons with the 3L duramax vs the 5.3L. That's $8525 saved over 100k miles, more than covers the extra cost engine option and maintenance.

    Agreed but I'd rather not have any maintenance that can't be done without removing the transmission regardless of the 200k interval. (I don't trust it) The engineers could have made better choices and only God and hairdressers know why they did the oil pump this way. I'm not there with this engine as excited as I was about it, neither do I trust the V8 options at the moment due to the seemingly unsolved lifter problems. The 2.7T 4 cylinder on the other hand is intriguing and after some wheel time in one, I'd consider it for lighter hauling duties. Aside from that, GM needs to get their priorities in order...they can do better, especially with the margins they are chasing.

    I can get 38 mpg on my lm2.....I'll pass on the afm 5.3....this is from experience....I deleted afm on a 2013 and it costs just as much as lm2 maintenance. You get that many miles your lifers won't return to their natural state and your eating fuel for no reason. I done away with it and my fuel mileage went back to decent.

  • @8020Media

    Yeah I usually just recommend the OBD afm delete devices cause actually deleting all of the components is a bit more expensive. But yes, big difference in mileage between the two engines for sure

    This video is false. An oil change is actually cheaper then the v8. Fuel filter is cheap also and easy to do. And about 20k miles intervals.

  • @8020Media

    @8020Media

    Jason - don't think I mentioned that oil changes and fuel filters were more expensive, but saving $20 on that stuff vs the V8 engines isn't really a big deal. My general point was that the timing chain and oil pump belt make this a tough engine to work on and the maintenance intervals for the two result in a lot of added costs. I hope the 20k interval you're mentioning is for the fuel filter and not the oil change too.

    I have a 2022 3.0 Duramax, three trips to dealership in first 30 days of ownership. I’d say it’s a terrible engine, too many unsolved issue from the factory. Don’t buy into the hype, wait for gen 3 version of the engine imo. Avoid LM2 at all cost!!!

    So buy a 5.3 v8 and deal with a lifter failure or the DFM... see what your cost of ownership is then... Cost of ownership is never just about oil changes and gas... however people just constantly think that is it... smh

    So your bummed out at a check engine light and ready to go back to Ford? At best it is inconvenient and that’s all. On my new 2021 I got a light on the first day. Took the truck back and they kept it for 3 days. They needed to source a part. For my inconvenience GM gave me $1000 GM accessory card to spend. Never another issue with the truck.

    It’s a new truck and some trucks will have some issues and not all trucks are perfect. I love my 2020 3.0 and only have over 28000 mile on it. I took a trip twice to Texas from Michigan and only took me two full tanks to get there. The best engine GM has mad so far and thinking about getting the new 3.0 with 305 hp and 495 pounds of torque. If can get a good deal on one I’ll pull the trigger but will see. Theses prices are just ridiculous. Good luck on your new truck.
