This man knows his stuff and has helped me massively with debts just by watching his videos. Set up token payments with creditors of £1 until it’s sold to debt collector, set up £1 payments again. Do this for 1 year and then the debt will be worth much less. At least half LISTEN TO THIS MAN

Another great video Oye. 👊🏾 The debt system in the UK is interesting. There is a conflict of interest. They also tend to ask their clients to pay more to creditors after review, which would invariably increases their share of the payment. Talking vulnerable people down the IVA route when it is unwarranted, is awful.🙄😉

Great video as always Oye, I’m a long time subscriber. I knew before I hit play that Stepchange were not to be trusted. Every time I contacted my creditors to tell them I was struggling they’d say “contact the charity Stepchange, they can help”. You’ve gotta ask yourself what incentive the banks have to introduce you to a “charity” that can “help”. The only “help” here is Stepchange helping themselves to your money.

Basically stepchange are a bunch of salesmen for debt agencies selling you payment plans which they get commission on. Technically isn't the contract invalid as all contracts must have full disclosure & their not exactly disclosing that their being paid by the debt collector when you take out the contract unless it's in small print which is why people need to pay careful attention and read everything before they sign a contract or least overstand how to retain their inalienable rights.

I am with Payplan on a DMP, and every year during my annual review they try to push me into an IVA. As i understand how as stated in this video's how these so called debt charities work, no one can run them for free, so their only source of income is from your payments. This is probably acceptable for a DMP, but with an IVA they make many times more from the high fee's that they charge, leaving only a small amount going to your creditors. At the end of an IVA you will get a shock at the amount you still owe, and if you own your home you will be expected to release any equity to pay off the remaining balance, putting you back into debt. My advice is if you only owe a few thousand to each creditor, contact them and ask them to freeze all charges in return for payments that you can afford. Only use a so called debt charity if you are heavily in debt with multiple creditors. There is no such thing as a free lunch.

StepChange is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and is one of the best free-to-customer advice agencies in the UK. If they weren't industry-funded, then people in debt would have to pay for the service themselves, when they can least afford it. You're a dangerous conspiracy theorist who will harm people in debt. I’ve been suspicious of them for a while. We get clients who have told us step change were pushing them to trust deeds. The worst thing is that they get government funding and take it away from truly independent organisations like citizens advice. The Scottish govt have been giving them a lot of money. They also dont help with income maximisation properly which should also be part of good debt advice , so making sure you get all the benefits and other in work support you might be entitled to. Thank you for highlighting this and please let the Scottish Govt know !

Surely it's the company that you owe money to that is paying for step change, not you, the person who is in debt? For example if you pay off £20 a month, your debt reduces by £20 a month. The company forgoes some of that money to support step change to get that money off you.

Such a misguided video! Should you be giving financial advice? Are you qualified to? If you are you would know Stepchange are doing good. If you want to look into a companies income, check companies house. Not devising ur own thoughts on what u “think” things mean from their website. Your “advice” is going to lead to worse debt problems!
