The Truth About Paul McCartney's Relationship With John Lennon

Ойын-сауық

Considered one of the most influential bands of all time, The Beatles completely altered the music landscape in the ‘60s and ‘70s. Hits like “Hey Jude,” “A Hard Day’s Night,” and “Let It Be” dominated the charts, while the band’s extreme popularity in the States ushered in the British Invasion, opening the door for other U.K. groups, including the Kinks and the Rolling Stones.
Behind the Beatles’ success, there was John Lennon and Paul McCartney, the band’s principal songwriters. Theirs is a story of extreme ups and downs: this is the truth about Paul McCartney's relationship with John Lennon.

I think you are correct - I also think the song "Your Mother Should Know" off Magical Mystery Tour. and I think that on Sgt. Pepper - "She's Leaving Home" (is either his mom's youth regarding falling in love with Paul's dad - or - it is about one of her sisters.") I've never seen an interview where Paul proclaimed such - but once when asked - he sort of shrugged his shoulders and blew the interviewer off - in one of his rare aloof moments - and needed to keep moving through the airport. And in Paul's solo career - I think there may be other impressions of his mom - but can't say that with certainty. But he was very shaken by her death - to boot at the time his mother was the breadwinner - and he was only 14 years old (so his trama must have had a double edge to it) - and it would not be long after her passing that Paul at 15 or 16 wrote: "When I'm Sixty-four." That also made Sgt. Pepper - Now the song does not reference his mom - but you can tell that her passing had him thinking of the time - and life - and being fed - and all the mothering tones within the lyrics.

@Ross Smith Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein were fine composers and wrote many great Broadway plays and musicals. They entertained millions of people but no way shape or form did they have the impact of the Beatles. The music of Lennon and McCartney influenced western culture. They changed the way we look and the way we think. The decade we know as the 60s effectively began on February 9, 1964 when the Beatles appeared on the Ed Sullivan show. The 50s had affectively ended with the assassination of John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963. The Beatles rekindled rock ‘n’ roll which had.died when Elvis Presley went into the army in 1958. Lennon and McCartney songs were covered by more artists then any other duo in history. The proof is in the history books my friend. Now you can offer me some proof that Rodgers and Hammerstein were the greatest song writing duo of the 20th century.

The Lennon/McCartney relationship also suffered of Brian Epstein's death. The guy was the leader in terms of what the band should do commercially speaking (what projects do they do, when do they release what, how do they dress, etc.) When such an important part of your project is gone, you need someone to step up, but by doing so you change the band's dynamic and it is likely to lead to conflicts.

I'd found a couple of old Capitol albums, was watching reruns of the Beatles cartoon series and hearing songs I hadn't heard before (we didn't have ALL the albums when we were growing up, but I soon remedied that). I'd also bought "Rarities", and was lucky enough to watch "Magical Mystery Tour" on a local station for the first time ever. Paul died in late 1966 and was replaced by Billy, who has been impersonating him for decades. The apathy of most people when told this truth is astonishing. Its like pauls personhood has been erased. Killed, replaced and erased. Someone else took his name. For money, a successful career and fame. And most people still oblivious.

This is not true. John and Paul decided to share authorship years before Brain came on the along. One idea was the person who came up with the idea for the song, their name would come first, but later decided that Lennon and McCartney would be what they'd use all the time. Why ? Alphabetical, it's that simple.

Only McCartney 1970 LP can be compared to the Beatles' records. It's serious, it's atmospheric, it has great songs. Wings albums are easy listening music even if it makes sense. Paul wrote all his great songs in the 60s. And in John's albums after 1972 there is a lack of ideas. As if he was forcing himself to be silent. To sum up, Paul's music after his departure from the Beatles became similar to many other things. John's music remained Beatle-like, but triviality and even borrowings appeared in it (Starting Over).

John always showed his chops by being the band spokesman. Had something smart, pithy, often sarcastic to say. Paul was a sweeter personality. Not as contrary as John. But just as smart, and taking notes. It's nice that Paul is the voice commenting on the history of the Beatles for the last 20 years. Paul's sensibility is romantic. But when he talks, he is sensible, measured. He's now the Chief Historian, and he conveys the facts so we all better understand the epic era of the Beatles.
