Man the difference in recovery among people is insane. I recently had this surgery. I’m in my 20s and have played sports my entire life. I was miserable for DAYS I mean this was the worse pain/ recovery I’ve ever had. I have broken a lot of bones, torn muscles, fingers etc but this was another level of pain. I have watched videos of people who were legit fine the next day. I couldn’t get out of bed for 3-4 days.

2 weeks since my turbinate reduction + septoplasty. Mild congestion but no pain post-op. The only side effects I've experienced so far were sensitivity when taking deep breaths and soreness when trying to wash my nasal area with facial cleanser. Other than that, I felt that the surgery was a massive success and has definitely improved my quality of life thus far. I honestly believe that the side effects really depends on how good the surgeon is.

I am 3 weeks post op from a turbinate reduction and debulking of a neurofibroma. I actually feel fine. One of the best I've felt from any post op. The first week or so, my lips were super chapped. My saline rinse would sometimes burn, but that's just about it. Outside of the pressure in my face, I didn't really have a lot of pain. I did use the nasal cones recommended by my surgeon the day after my operation so maybe that helped a bit. I mainly just used the Flonase and nasal rinse spray they sent me home with. I only took tramadol a couple of times to deal with the slight discomfort. As of today, I feel great.

I am scheduled to have this surgery 12-1-23. I was in the DR office today and he made me feel amazingly positive and upbeat for this procedure. He said "You're young and its a quality of life thing to fix it" unfortunately i feel as sunce ive watched tons of patients who had the surgery im hearing more risk then reward. Some people having constant nasal drip, crusty/dryness, and even ENS. I guess im going to have to live with my nose like the way it is seems better then nasal drip, dryness, ens, etc. Right now i have blockage which is annoying but no pain associated with this

First off -- @lakemaker nice video. I'm subscribed after watching it just to see what else you've got going on. My situation is that I found it very hard to breathe through my nose for as long as I can remember - decades at least. This is because I had a deviated septum, obstructive inferior turbinates and a rather large nasal polyp. I had the surgery to fix this stuff last Friday (12-15-23) so I'm transitioning from that surgical recovery pain and discomfort (hopefully). No seriously I do feel better, and can breathe better. A lot better. And even though I struggled to manage the pain after surgery because opioids make me too nauseous, I found it to be tolerable with just ibuprofen. The constant spraying saline solution, and now since my stints are out the nasal rinse, and drugs and ointments are a hassle, but generally make my nose feel better. Having a humidifier close by and running all the time is helpful as well to keep the pain down. I feel like I'm kind of high maintenance... haha higher than usual. But given how different my breathing is when things are clean, I am feeling that this is a very positive change for me.

Eating dinner was difficult but I honestly feel like I can breath better than I did before the surgery. I didn't have any splints put in, I just have the gauze across my nose. Currently in bed watching your video trying to fall asleep but sadly I'm a stomach sleeper myself so I'm not comfortable laying on my back. After I ate I did feel like my nose bled alot more than it had the entire evening so my nose is a lil backed up but I'm hoping for a better day 2. My experience has been the full negative experience of sleep apnea just wreck havoc on my life and the family, I just wake up every hour and it has been miserable during the whole day. The worst part has been the stuffiness and cleaning up the discharge.(like you have with a sinus infection) I have the splints in, no discomfort or pain..Today I feel fine, still dripping a little.. For the best success and lowest risk of ENS/exterior membrane damage to the Turbinates have the microdebrider procedure done, the cauterize/radiowave methods have a history of issues (have a complete understanding of each method)...I don't regret having it done..Do your research on the Surgeon and the way they reduce the Turbinates and you'll have success ..:)

I had nasal surgery, and they took out nasal Polyps and fixed a deviated septum, but my breathing has been worse ever since even with countless medication and nasal rinses. My nose also becomes inflamed with the slightest amount of mold, pollen, fragrances and things of that nature. I had no splints or nasal bandages after my surgery, I was given stitches that would fall out over time, and I think that was a huge factor in why my nose is worse off. I've been to 5 different ENTs, and they don't know if I have ENS or what the problem could be, but they want to shrink my turbinate's and if I don't have ENS, I probably will after. It's been a struggle for the last years and has only gotten worse.

I just had it Friday, I was bad lol I was bending, cleaning(lighthouse work), and watching Netflix with a friend all weekend. So did I have a little nose bleeds in the beginning? Yes. But it wasn’t painful, I was still mobile to do whatever I wanted. I am taking it easy since yesterday. I cleaned out my nose with saline a few times& noticed a huge difference. It stopped bleeding where I don’t need the nose diaper, and I just spit out the drippage. The only thing it’s really uncomfortable to sleep with the mouth open I didn’t have the teeth issues or sensitivity issues with cold and hot. I made sure to take my vitamins & drink tea. Also, I used arnica gel on top of nose and take these dry mouth mints.

Well, thank God one person isn't in horrid pain. I think I am watching too many videos. I have a severe deviated septum, with hypertrophic turbinate. Cause, at 5 stuck a crayon up there. Doc thought he shoved it down my esophagus. Nope. It was way up there in my sinus until I was 25, 20 years while I matured to adulthood. I cannot smell even as one side is clogged completely. Waiting on surgery date. Please tell me of others that were not in horrid pain. And did anyone else lose there sense of smell prior? (No, I have never had Covid.)

So, for my growing years it was way up in my sinus. Now, at 67, I am having sinus issues along with lack of smell. CT scan showed I am packed and septum is deviated with hypertrophic turbinates. @@inotherwords14 Don't know your situation and I'm not qualified to answer either way, but I can only speak to my bad experiences, and I have a lot of them with surgery. Every surgery I've had left me in chronic pain. Maybe that just means there's something unusual about my body. I had a technically complicated frontal sinus surgery, done by one of the best surgeons at Loma Linda. I was Infected by some nasty bacteria, contributing to horrible lung issues... I was suffering immensely ,so I felt I had no choice. But if you can manage your problems on your own I would go that route every time ! No matter how inconvenient, because the routines I have now to cope are worse than anything I had to do before. So if you haven't already, dedicate yourself to a strict daily routine, Neal Med sinus rinse, xylitol, techniques like the Buteyko method. Decongestants nasal sprays. I like "Xlear rescue". Best of luck 🙏

@@inotherwords14 bro I just had turbinates reduction and septoplasty. Day 5, first day was hard because of the congestions, day 2 a littler better, and since then every day is getting better. Right now I have only a splint in my left nostril, there I cannot breath, while the right one is quite open, still a little bit congested. But NO SIDE EFFECTS WHATEVER, just some pain the first days but that's normal considering is a surgical procedure. Just be confident, do the rinses with saline (no plain water) and I applied a hydrocortisone cream with an antibiotic directly in the nostril, kept the inflammation low and the risk of infection away!
