Here in the west everything has been either industrially packed or canned and with lot’s of additives to make it tasty, so I guess it’s normal to think our food in Kenya is tasteless.

From what I have observed, the video was recorded not later than 2011. He was hosted somewhere in a rural village in kitale and that's Y he has such a narrow perspective of Kenyan culture. Based on his description of food, he was probably hosted by a kikuyu family living in kitale(no shade). Ugali that has been properly cooked is tasty and has an aroma with a 1km reach. Communities with the tastiest/aromatic food hail from swahili coast or luo nyanza. The tastiest meat comes from the maasai community. The freshest vegetables come from the kikuyu lands hence their healthy but tasteless mukimo(no shade). That said; my fellow Kenyans, stay safe.

Most of what you said was spot on, as for ugali being tasteless...I can tell you when I was away from home, the only dish I missed and dreamt of was Ugali. You cannot be a Kenyan and not identify with Ugali and sukuma wiki, it's what makes us who we are. You sound like you stayed in the rural part of Kenya though so you view the country from that perspective only. Imagine a 'mzungu' coming as a tourist and visiting Masaai Mara National park or Diani beach only? They will still experience Kenya but from a totally different perspective. Good review though.

The Maasai aren't the runners, its us the Kalenjin, and most of us have cars, especially if they live outside of Nairobi because the places we live are so large you just need a car to get by. The runners usually put on their Nike and Adidas track suits and go jogging in the mornings.
